Like the Dohvankiin in Skyrim, the Inquisitor is KIND OF a big deal.  Hawke was fantastic, the Warden too, but I can't see them dismissing the role of the Quizzy so readily.  The mark, in my mind, makes them far more unique than the others, add to that being leader of the new-world-order, I see there being a lot more important work to be done.  Plus, I NEED TO SPEND ALL THIS POWER ON SOMETHING.   <_<

YES! THIS! Please Bioware let me get rid out of the freakin' power points!!! Let me trade them for curtains or something!!

Ahem, I'll be calm now.

At the end of DAI, the Inquisition is pretty much the only big power standing in Orlais and Ferelden and its decisions had determined the world state after Corypheus is defeated and the breach sealed for good. They could move further up north or ahead in time for the next game, but I'd rather see the Inquisition develop and play a part in the upcoming events (which will be world-shaking) It will have to be disbanded at some point, but I don't see it happening in the near future.

Hahaha.  I want to say so bad that Dorian would totally stick around as much as possible, but a part of me feels that he'd flee at the last second.

Ok, so what if you could play some sort of fabulouslessly dressed Tevinter magister?????  Magical monkey friend included -

Fabulouslessly what? Ahhh, no :P

I'd rather be an AVVAR!

Whatever, that's his problem for ditching Lavellan in a setting with so many hot elven men

Somehow I imagine the scene at the well going something like:

Solas: "There is a place you can go..."

Lavellan behind Solas displaying a big sign: "MY BED"

I disagree. If focused, the Inquisition could yet accomplish many things. It could be used for rebuilding, for maintaining peace, to research the orb and it's power...the list continues. It both could and should find purpose. There's basically no way to dismantle the inquisition anyway, not without putting a ton of people out of jobs.

They can go rebuild under their rightful governments once order is restored. The nobility funding the Inquisition isn't going to just keep doing that once the major threat of the Breach is resolved- not without believing they're going to get something out of it. And that inevitable diversion is something I'm not going to let happen, especially since the Inquisition only derives its authority from the Chantry. I won't be tool of the new Divine, no matter who that is.

It could, but I think it would drag on as far as the story is concerned. I wouldn't mind the next game having the inquisition dismantle with its job done and our character keeping inquisitor as a title of his/her own in their new plot. Like how Shepard always is the commander.

But I definitely want to play as my inquisitor again, but if not, I already know how his story ends for me so it doesn't matter at this point one way or another.

I hope they don't do it. To each game its own story and own hero. The Inquisition has no purpose after Corypheus is dead, so if it sticks around, there should be negative consequences to having an army that has no allegiance and no purpose other than to perpetuate itself.

God, I don't even want to contemplate if they'd forced us to play Hawke again. I'm pretty sure I'd have skipped the game entirely.

My issue with a new protagonist for DA4 would be that it feels like DAI's story has only just begun. Sure, we gained power, got strong, defeated the big bad by the end of the game... but it didn't feel like a satisfying end to where I can say that yes, I believe my Inquisitor's journey is done. I hope there will be serious story DLC to wrap that all up if we won't be the Inquisitor in the next game.

And as someone else said, there is a good reason for the Inquisition to hang around for a bit. They are a serious power and stabilizing force in an otherwise torn-up and uncertain world, and if they were to lay their swords down a few months after endgame then it's likely all the hard work they had done to build peace and security for the people would have been for nothing. They would need to remain in power at least as long as it takes for Orlais and Ferelden to be strong on their feet again. That would certainly take a few years, and then the Inquisition can slowly withdraw and let the world go on as before. Still gives plenty of time to explore the story and ongoing events as the Inquisitor.

Hmm...

Now I'm imagining an alternate Inquisition where instead of necromancy, Dorian commands Fade!monkeys. And that is his pet skill. That's all.

But Magic Monkey! Crazed, high fashion Tevinter goddess!  Navigating her way through Tevinter politics with blood magic, shade, and savoir faire!

BUT...I also want to be an Avvar. My Lavellan had a great deal of love for the Avvar chieftain.

Yes! One of the travesties of this game.  Where is Sandal? Where is Wade/Herren(or why aren't they at Skyhold)?  Where is Dorian's battle monkey????

Magical monkeys are a force to be reckoned with.  Now I want Dorian and Sun Wukong the Monkey King to team up and bring glory and fabulousness to all of Thedas.  By their egos combined, we shall all be saved!

IMO this should be resolved in DLC, not in a new game. I want to move on, not drag all the same issues into DA4.

For now, the Inquisition is wanted by both Ferelden and Orlais because the world was about to end and neither country had the solution for it. but how long do you think Celene/Gaspard and Anora/Allistair will allow what is after all a huge army and political power with no allegiance to either of them to stay within their border? Once the rifts are close and order restored, I don't see them allowing it anymore. The inquisition will become a threat to their rulership at this point. It WILL have to either disband or change in significant ways if it is to survive. The UN only works because it doesn't ACUTALLY have that much power. It has no army and is only as strong as the sum of its parts (the different countries that forms it). Maybe the Inquisition could become this. Maybe. But as the Behemoth it is by the end of DAI, I don't see it as being permanent. Not unless it wants war with its neighbors.

If Solas is going to be a big player in the story, I'd rather not have to keep interacting with him through some other random losers. No thanks.

On a (mostly) unrelated note, I'm trying to write Solas/Lavellan, and BFF Dorian keeps popping up and stealing the spotlight.  I may have to give him his own chapter.

Could've been the new "Go for the eyes, Boo!"

On a completely unrelated note, seeing the Abelas thing pop up again coinciding with me starting "In Hushed Whispers" again on yet another playthrough made me curious. A lot of Solamancers seem to have a thing for Abelas (I have not caught that fever). Are there any Solasmancers who kinda thought Lysas was a cute little fella?

I kinda do.

I expect Solas to be involved in at least one post-game DLC, and Solavellan to have some resolution through that. Afterwards I don't care if we see Solas in the future using a new protagonist, if there's a reason to see him. You'd get used to a new "loser" the same way you got used to this one.

I didn't pay much attention to Abelas in my first pt, tbh. I just thought "Now, that's a rude guy" until they very end of the Temple when he seemed a bit nicer. And to be even more honest, I think I like the Abelas in people's fanart much better than the one in the game

I kinda have a mini-crush on Loranil; I even headcanon my Lavellan seeking Dalish elven glory with him if Solas doesn't show up again.

I don't necessarily disagree, but it's hard to imagine what can be done with only a couple of 4-5 hour DLC. I want a satisfying journey and resolution, not rushed answers and revelations sprinkled through huge maps in which we need to pick up notes and kill random mobs. And I will be really irritated if the only time we ever see Solas again is as a new PC. Maybe his part of the story with the Inquisition is done, but at this point I'd be really sour about that. I don't expect that is really the case, or else why take the time to humanize Solas as much as possible for us as the Inquisitor? A new PC won't know him and wouldn't be able to get to know Solas. It would be annoying at best.

It's been said time and again that an expansion won't be happening, but was there not supposed to have been an expansion for DA2? If they were willing to do one for that, maybe it's possible we can have one for DAI?

I don't want to though, we've already had three characters in the same series. It's getting old, all the switching.

I liked a lot of the NPC elves in this game, but Abelas didn't catch my eye at first either. Though I must confess Liz has made...an excellent case for him to say the least.

They can go rebuild under their rightful governments once order is restored. And that inevitable diversion is something I'm not going to let happen, especially since the Inquisition only derives its authority from the Chantry. I won't be tool of the new Divine, no matter who that is.

The Inquisition wasn't even founded on true Chantry authority. The Chantry openly declared the Inquisition heretics. It was founded on the authority of Divine dead and gone. Chantry "authority" is tenuous at best.  It grew both without support or authority of -any- government or faction. The new divine gives it's support to the Inquisition because she was a member of that Inquisition. She couldn't stop it even if she wanted to. Withdrawing Chantry support would change little, depending on how the Divine in question uses her authority. Always someone willing to fund the opposition.

As for the funding to continue to pour in, well that depends on what the inquisition will shift their focus to. I believe as long as Orlais can make use of their arrangement of mutual support the nobles will fund whatever is in vogue to fund.

I guess my point is that the Chantry and the Inquisition are no longer one in the same. Spun the right way you might even say the Inquisition controls the Chantry, not the other way around.

I realize this is some pages back now and probably way off topic, sorry lol. I get distracted by this work thing while I'm at work.
