Not to mention, just how many mary sue badasses can we possibly have in this timeframe. They're going to have to stop eventually, unless they shoot a good chunk of time ahead like in the Elder Scrolls.

UGHHHHHHHH JEALOUS x1 million

Sorry? I could invite you over, with all the people in this thread, for a sobbing party in beautiful places!

I didn't pay much attention to Abelas in my first pt, tbh. I just thought "Now, that's a rude guy" until they very end of the Temple when he seemed a bit nicer. And to be even more honest, I think I like the Abelas in people's fanart much better than the one in the game

I kinda have a mini-crush on Loranil; I even headcanon my Lavellan seeking Dalish elven glory with him if Solas doesn't show up again.

Oh my, My Lavellan found both Loranil and Lysas to be cute

I liked a lot of the NPC elves in this game, but Abelas didn't catch my eye at first either. Though I must confess Liz has made...an excellent case for him to say the least.

I rather like http://dragonage.wik...i/Delrin_Barris myself.

Love Barris!

It's a shame his war table quests don't trigger if you conscript the templars I would have loved to see his promotion scene with my Trevalyn.

IMO the Inquisition can be relevant if it becomes a magical police force with a more hands off approach than the templars/Chantry or it becomes the first bank of southern Thedas.

I want the inquisitor back, so I can romance Cullen again.

I want another protagonist, so I don't have to romance Cullen again.

I don't know. I want both.

I want a new protagonist and romance Cullen again...? Hm.. that's kind of odd. No, I don't want that.

I want new protagonist who resembles sarcastic Hawke. .. ?

But the inquisition is not "useless" once Corypheus is defeated. And the epilogue strongly suggests that, too.

Wasn't Lysas the guy that was crying about growing crops in Redcliffe? How does he remind you of Christian Bale???? WHAT???

Not sure about the growing crops thing.

Lysas was one of the rebel mages that took refuge in Redcliffe and was worried about the whole Tevinter indenture thing. he was a very minor NPC you could have a bit of dialogue with. Later, if you follow through and do "In Hushed Whispers" instead of "Champions of the Just", you see Future Lysas in that very first jail cell area where you and Dorian are, singing to himself and raddled with red lyrium.

I literally have no reason at all to be drawn to him other than he seems nice, he's cute, and I really like the fur pauldron mage look. Probably half the reason why I liked Anders in DA2 as well.

I'm a bit torn on carrying the Inquisitor over to DA4 or having a new protagonist (I already have a concept in mind for a Tevinter based character, ha). However, if we only get a paltry resolution to the Solas/Elven gods plotline in dlc, I definitely vote to keep the Inquisitor for one more game at least. I'd love it if they did a Baldur's Gate type transition where you end up in a new setting with some old friends, but with your former status gone. The only thing I see as being a challenge is juggling all the love interests . . . especially Cassandra, who may be Divine.

Is that the case? I conscripted the templars on my first Inquisitor and still got the option to promote him, if I remember correctly. There was one heck of a bug where I couldn't sit on the throne to do so for some time, however. I ended up having to wait until I judged Servis much later. Who is also very attractive. The Tevine are all quite attractive.

Aww butts.  Is that intended behavior, or is it a bug?  I conscripted the templars, and I didn't know he had war table missions until my friend who recruited him mentioned it.

A friend of mine and I have this joke that DA4 is going to be about a guy named Cliff. He leads a sad boring life and eventually gets laid off and has to move back in with his parents. Dragon Age: Cliff the Disgruntled Worker, it's gonna be a great game.

We don't have to play a demigod every time. New problems, new hero. But I recognize this is a matter of taste and some will say "do want." I just vote "don't want." To me the Inquisition is a limited time only proposition and even Lavellan has better things to do than be tool of Orlesians, Chantry folk, or whoever will try to use it after the world is saved. And I like Lavellan, but she belongs to this game, not DA4, IMO.

That's... me, basically.

I want a new Cullen. Different name, different face (sure as hell different hair), a bit more funny, but apart from that my same old cliche knight in shining armor.

I want a sharp blade and some pretty heavy armor and I want a mabari again.

And a new story and a more fleshed out protagonist with a head of her own.

And I want to go to Par Vollen and Seheron.

The rest I don't care about.

I apologize if this has been mentioned before, but regarding the "expansion" vs "another game/another protagonist" there's one very significant difference between DA:I and the first two games.  DA:I doesn't actually end, it continues after beating Cory.  The other two games were over when they beat the bad guy.  I think Bioware is going to spend a fair bit of time on DA:I before moving on to the next game.

Ok. With the gif. I see it now.  I liked Lysas as well. I felt really bad for him because he was just all "I want to help grow crops not be be an evil blood mage".  That's so reasonable.  The Fem!Inquisitors voice acting when she saw him Redcliffe was pretty ace.  I felt terrible.

There's an easy way to role play this, though.

Don't play your Lavellan in DA4.

There's always an option for those players who choose not to import. If we play "our" inquisitor for a second game, there will certainly be an option to play someone new. You could headcanon your Lavellan retired to the woods, royally annoyed by everyone and everything and so they appointed someone new...or something.

We'll have to agree to disagree about the Inquisition being limited-time though- my Lavellan has no desire to leave. The inquisition is her family, and she'd as soon go back to the woods as she'd like to get mauled by a bear. It's all in your story and how you play and in mine, the inquisition is in a real place of power now to actually help people and to make a difference.

I'm unsure, personally, if I would want to play Lavellan in DA4, but I'm going to wait until after DLC has ended completely before I make my mind up. I need to see how this story resolves itself first before I make any hasty judgments.

Expansions are out so I'm hoping the DLCs will be connected, standalones but also linked by the larger narrative.

Bethesda has open ended games as well and they still have new protagonists every game. I'm pretty sure the open endedness in DAI is for post-game DLC, but we'll see.

In order for there to be a continued hero, there would have to be significant carryover, otherwise why bother?

But, as you say, there's no point in speculation really. Bioware will do whatever it will do.

I can see them using DLC as a way of introducing the other countries from northern Thedas, Tevinter in particular. They sort of did that with DA2 DLC in mark of the assassin by giving us a taste of how OTT Orlesians can be.

I don't want the inquisitor back. She's a doormat to me. I liked my kind diplomatic Hawke best. Much better voice acting too. I was almost shocked how much I prefer femHawke when I saw her again in DAI. Of course she doesn't look anything like she did in DA2, but just that voice... made me all smiles and nostalgic.

Bioware should stick to the formula of introducing a new protagonist each game. Makes sense for Dragon Age. Comes at the expense of character development. But I prefer consistency.

Quite frankly, I don't care about any of the DA protagonists much though. It's the companions that get me emotionally invested.

Here's a question, do you think that Flemeth would have been strong enough to bind corypheus to her in the first place if he had to do it himself? Corypheus is almost on par with the gods himself it seems, and who knows what the blight's effect has on his mind already. Maybe a little tug of war with her and whatever's behind the taint. He is pretty much as strong, if not stronger than an archdemon.

Hmm, and maybe it's a question of Fen'Harel magic not being "compatible" with the Well of Sorrows? Solas cuts off any discussion when you ask him if he would like to drink from the well. Maybe Cory - given that huge part of his power is coming from his orb - cannot/does not want to drink from the well for mirror reasons as Solas (definately not the same, I think in Solas case the reason of not drinking is respect, while in case of Cory it's simply a fear).

It’s difficult to tell what Bioware intend to do with our quizzies. On the one hand it wouldn’t make a great deal of sense to not use them again in the next game given the plots/choices that have been set up, especially the likes of the well of sorrows choice but I can also see why they would want to use a new protagonist, it would make things a fair bit easier for them and allow them a little more freedom with characters. However Bioware have seemingly gone out of their way to not tie up loose ends and at least imply to a degree that the inquisitors story isn’t over and that the inquisition is just going to keep growing in power and influence. I can't see why they would do this if they don't intend to use them again.
