It would almost be Andraste all over again Maker help us D:

Inquizzy changes Solas' mind about the shemlen and he begins to think maybe this world is worth preserving after all, then we go and burn her at the stake as a heretic and he's just like NOPEJKLETTHEWORLDBURN *tears down Veil unleashes the Elven gods* /cue DA4 with Solas as antagonist

Someone needs to write this fic :D

I remember back when I got invited to the first Beta Weekend for SWTOR.  I was sooooo sure I was going to play a Jedi.  I almost always play the "evil" faction (Horde player in WoW) so I was determined not to get suckered into that with SWTOR.  Imperial Agent, on paper, didn't interest me in the slightest, so to not spoil myself on what I assumed was going to be my character when the game released, I played the IA.  As soon as she opened her mouth and I heard Jo Wyatt's voice coming out, all those plans went down the toilet.  I've played every class in the game.  And the IA is still my favorite.  Funny how that turned out.

I love AWR as the Inquisitor.  My love for ME and Traynor makes me a bit biased towards her.  I assume BioWare decided to have some of the dialogue be neutral because of the backlash from people that hated how much personality Hawke had.  I only noticed her sounding like a robot for asking questions about lore stuff.  When it came to having emotion, and reacting to things, she was always amazing, to me at least.  Hawke will always have a special place in my heart.  It's hard for me to choose between Hawke and Inquisitor at this point, as my fave DA protagonist.  I have a hard time feeling as attached to my Warden because she lacked a voice.  I envy folks that can headcanon and build up an entire personality and history.  With the Warden I was more attached to her companions than I was to her.

Yeah Hawke felt a bit off, but I chalked that up to being on the run, and just being worn out.  She's been through a lot.  Plus I can't imagine her being exactly ecstatic that the Tevinter Magister she thought she killed is back and ruining the world.

Oh to make this more on topic!  So I took a break from the game for a few weeks, and did yet another run through of the ME games as kind of like a palette cleanser.  I am finally getting around to finishing my canon Nightmare playthrough.  I did 99.999999% of the side stuff (everything but one bottle and a couple mosiac tiles) so I am starting What Pride Had Wrought.  Not looking forward to what comes right after.  I will probably be back in here with you guys sobbing over Solas ripping out my heart for the second time.  Gah I need to stop typing.  I have to go pick up my niece from school and I am not dressed or anything.

Horde are NOT evil! We're just the underdogs! Misfits, riff raff, loveable rogues... With a warchief like Thrall we could never be evil! (or Vol'jin now too).

On the subject of SWTOR, my first character and only level 50 is a Smuggler, I loved my Smuggler.  On the other side, my favourite was Bounty Hunter.  I do have an agent and she does love Vector, but I rarely play anymore and I never finished her story. Sith, I had a laugh playing a light sided Sith Inquisitor for a short while, never seriously, I just loved being sweet to people as sith. It was a bit like that Qunari baker who puts sugar in the bread... Playing as a Jedi actually made me dislike them...

Regarding the Anchor, my Lavellan was intensely relieved/happy that the Mark didn't come from Andraste. She was annoyed that she wouldn't be able to tell people that, but saw how it was important for her to keep her power and position.

Maybe it's just me being cynical, but I have a nasty feeling that the truth will come out eventually.  The way my Lavellan sees it, it's power on borrowed time, based essentially on a lie.  A weak point in the Inquisition that's all too easy for enemies to exploit.

I prefer Hawke to Warden and Inquisitor to Hawke. But I'm weird and adored DA2. A lot.

My problem with disbanding the Inquisition is...what would our inquisitor do? Go back to being a regular guy? Not ever.

And as far as the inquisition going dark, I think they would only allow that if your inquisitor left or they gave you the option to make it that way by being a dick.

My Lavellan would be doing magical research, so I don't know if that qualifies as regular guy, but not leading armies for sure. And hella sure not involving herself in Orlesian politics any second longer than she has to.

I feel like in these discussions the same way when people said the dovahkiin would have to become emperor, which to me means boring paper-stamper. If I'm going to do anything, it's going to be affecting the metaphysical realm. Other people can have the council meetings and frilly cakes.

As for Hawke, I hated the lack of agency and the sense you could do basic competent things like even try to stop Anders before the Chantry went boom. Hawke being snarky, which really was the only palatable option, became really unpalatable as she continually just stood by with her thumb up her hoohoo while the city fell apart around her. I didn't really want to play a human becoming a noble, either. Pfeh. At least Hawke is subdued and her failings are acknowledged in DAI. That made me hate the character less.

I know Horde aren't evil!  That's why I used quotations :P.  I do play the "evil' faction in pretty much every MMO though.  Not sure what that says about me.  Cuz I am Paragon F!Shep fo lyfe, and equivalent in DA.  But an MMO?  Nope gimme the dark evil faction!  Sith was waaaaaaaay more fun than Jedi.  I have a DS Jedi Shadow and a LS Sith Assassin.  Heh.  Those were fun.

Omg I am running late I have to go.

Even if people learn the truth I’d like to think our quizzies have done enough to ward off being branded heretics and killed given that without them everyone in Thedas would be dead.

Ugh, SW:TOR.  Some great stories and really interesting concepts buried in a giant steaming bantha turd.  I still played through all of the Bounty Hunter and Sith Inquisitor storylines, though.  I played the bounty hunter with my friend's IA, and the second act of the IA plot was one of my favorite BioWare storylines ever.  At a certain point, though, I stopped being willing to dig through the bantha turd for those little bits of story.

Light-side Sith might be one of my favorite RP experiences ever though.  Whomever voices the Sith Inquisitor is just such a troll.  "I prefer the phrase...differently rational!"  Priceless.

More on-topic: with everything the Inquisition has done for the world (including saving it from Corypheus), I don't think learning how Quizzy got the anchor would make much of a difference. Her/his political enemies would try to take advantage of it, but there are lots of powerful people that owe the Inquisition.

It'll never happen because the Inquisitor is a Player Character but all it would really take for the quizzy to burned at the stake is for someone in the know to reveal the truth about how they got the Anchor and that it was a spirit in the breach not Andraste.

And just when they have tied her to the stake and the templar raises the torch to set fire to the pire.... Guess who drops from the heavens? Chaos and rifts ensue

I think with DA:I they were trying to respond to some of the complaints about Shepard in ME3 and Hawke in DA2.  Quizzy is generally more neutral in tone to prevent situations like, say, the fall of Thessia where Shep always responds really strongly even if the player feels it was out of place.  Of course, like the pre-VA games, that means it's up to the player to read into quizzy's words and fill in the blanks.  Honestly, I'm fine with the DA2 or DA:I approach toward the VAs; they each have strengths and weaknesses.

I'm one of those people who comes up with ridiculous detail for my PCs, though.  And I love all three of my PCs, but quizzy is quickly becoming my favorite.

I'm aware of that. And I'm not happy with that decision at all. Shepard in ME3 was perfect to me. FINALLY showing some human emotion. ME2 zombie Shepard was a disaster in that respect (and others...).

I'll take a predefined character over a generic avatar any day. I get the appeal of roleplaying a character any way you want, but it's just not for me personally. And it's not like you can actually roleplay the inquisitor much since the answers you can pick are variations of diplomatic most of the time. Which makes sense for the story. But I had a hard time injecting some personality into a character that just wasn't very interesting to me from what the game presented. The dead neutral voice acting didn't help at all.

It's great that you guys enjoy your inquisitors. There is plenty for me to enjoy too. It's just not the inquisitor. It's not a big gripe though. I'm slightly more fond of quizzy than the warden...

(And sarcastic Hawke is glorious, yes. A total caricature but a damn funny one. In a Patrick Bateman sort of way.^^)

The Inquisition is all wrapped up in faith and the belief that the Inquisitor is Andraste's herald is a huge part of why people joined the organisation and gave it power. Historically things don't tend to end well for the person at the centre of that.

But as I said nothing too bad will happen because the Inquisitor is the pc and there's no way BW would risk a repeat of the uproar ME3 caused. (I know Shepard's death wasn't the main reason people were upset but I don't think BW are going to do anything that chances that PR disaster again).
