This fits my theory of everything is the fault of Mythal, and she totally caused the blight with her whisperings cause reasons.
I think passionate response in some circles means: "Oh you dislike Anders?? DRINK BLEACH!!!!" That's the one the I see with the most outrageously "passionate" fans.
The fandom is ridiculously over-protective of these characters. For me, at the end of the day, they are just pixels. I will mock each and every one of them.
I love *and* hate Anders, in about equal measure. It almost makes me want to bait some of the ridiculous people, just to watch their brains spin like tops 
They are just pixels, and I will happily make fun of them including my favorites. But IMO the characters are the really strong point of connection in BioWare's games. The only one where the central plot knocked my socks off was Jade Empire, ironically also the game with IMO the weakest companion characters except Zu and Wild Flower. For the rest of BioWare's games, it was the characters that pulled me in. It's the characters that keep me playing, even when I find the main plot weak (DA2, ME3).

Legion and Mordin's deaths killed me. My boyfriend was watching me play the finale of Tuchanka, and he only knows ME from watching me play parts of it. We were both in tears.

It's a case of simply having favors owed/granted and secrets don't just disappear - as the Inquisition, you're in a position to repay the favors you owed over the course of the game and there are a number of noble houses across Thedas who have effectively tied their welfare with the power of the Inquisition. The secrets you've collected and carry which allowed you to move some of the most powerful people in Thedas don't suddenly stop being something you or your agents know simply because the Inquisition stops existing. It's a kind of soft power that's difficult to disperse because it's the power that simultaneously forms and is tied to the Inquisition. The Inquisition wasn't really ... granted power by the recognition of the Chantry/Orlais/Ferelden, what those powers did was more along the lines of recognize the power that the Inquisition had already accumulated through diplomacy/espionage/influence which does increase the Inquisition's credibility, but isn't the true foundation of its power. At this point, those three powers don't even have the option to stop recognizing the Inquisition without that choice being political self-harm.
