People hoping Solas will come back and we can complete our Solavellan romance for real.
We are going to be Beloved and Precious, dammit. ![]()
Maybe you should take a page out of Ghandi's book and be the change you want to see. If people lurking want to see more chatter about Solas, than maybe they should start posting more stuff about Solas to jump start the conversation that they obviously want to be having.
Also, insinuating that this place isn't nice is an incredibly rude thing to do. This thread is full of some of the most gifted and completely and totally 100% sweetest people that I've had the pleasure of meeting on the internet.
Just not completely tragic will do. At least, a choice for a not completely tragic ending.
I think Bioware secretly hates the PCs because the Warden either dies killing the Archdemon/has to deal with the Calling and Hawke comes back to be potentially ditched in the Fade. We're all doomed guise.
Team Optimism are the people keeping hopes up for a good ending. Maybe even a happy one.
Team Optimism is we who are desperately staving off the feels hellspiral and angst, and clinging to the hope of a happy ending.
Team Optimism is this:-

And what others have mentioned
People hoping Solas will come back and we can complete our Solavellan romance for real.
Yeah, well, ok, I can roll with that.
To be honest, I'm not entirely sure I want the Solavellan romance to HAVE an ending, than I want Solas to forgive himself and start being happy. With or without Lavellan. And also acknowledge the fact that even if 95% of the time he is the most clever sh*t in the universe, the last 5% makes him f*ck everything up if he's all alone and making decisions on his own. Boy needs perspective. And he also needs to stop patronizing my Lavellan, but that's another thing. (Yeah, I have strong feelings about him making decisions for my Lavellan without telling her why he does them, ugh).
That been said, I'll be frigging happy to have such happy ending for sure, but somehow it feels to me that it's way more convenient for Bioware to make him become the big villain. Sigh. Not sure I can allow myself to cling onto such foolish hope, tbh.

This is weird but something on this page 3051 is lagging up my browser and ONLY this page.
Actually, that just made me wonder.... what do you think is he now? We know that Mythal did not simply coexist with Flemeth, they kind of merged. Mythal influenced Flemeths thoughts and feelings, and the other way round.
Now Mythal had to leave Flemeth's body and is in Solas. Do they merge, too? Do we have an altered Solas now? Considering Mythal's and Flemeth's romantic back stories it should add quite another awkward side to his inherent hesitation.
(I still think he might just be a temporary host for her, trying to save her because Flemeth's body was failing, but just out of curiosity...)
Oh yeah. I agree. He will do whatever he needs to do to further his goals but he does value learning for the sake of it - he says that to Cassandra. Those things are not mutually exclusive. He likes when you tell him you are learning your mage specialization to just learn. And he's like 'oh..how wonderful' and nerds out a bit. I think that love is geniune and pretty innocent.
We don't really know what Morrigan's goals are. I've never felt her to be anything other than sort of a more crazed Indiana Jones thus her shanking of Abelas(gives side-eye to people who did that). Again, her desire to collect ALL THE INFORMATION may be leading to something totally terrible but I never got that sense from her. I do have a massive soft sport for her as a character though.
I think for both Solas/Morrigan - the ends justify the means. Though I will give Solas more credit, he is much more thoughtful and does seem to try to avoid violence/killing if he can. So in conclusion, I think we agree with eachother???
I think we do agree!
I see Solas as further along the path than Morrigan. He has all the knowledge that Morrigan once, and the benefits of experience and maturity but they have basically the same sort of philosophy. They value knowledge, they value magic, and they want to restore or at least preserve what was lost. The biggest difference now is that Morrigan doesn't seem to value life for the sake of it, and has a very "survival of the fittest" mentality, but I think that has softened a bit with Kieran and may change as she matures.
Her only goal that we know of is holding onto the old magic. I think her larger purpose in the plot will end up being related to Mythal. She might be some sort of unwitting pawn - groomed by her mother for a specific purpose completely different from what Morrigan originally thought she was being groomed for.
But yeah... basically what I was saying before is that I don't think either Solas or Morrigan are bad, and neither is really worse morally than the other.
Yeah, well, ok, I can roll with that.

I still maintain that the redemption arc is the stronger one. Seriously, the guy can only go through so much crap when it's just ridiculous. Sort of like Cullen, solas just needs a happy ending(romance or no). Though...come to think of it a redemption arc may include self-sacrifice at the end. So...you know.

This. More than anything, more than he and my Lavellan getting their happily-ever-after ending, I just want Solas to be ok. Patrick Weekes said that he made the romance specifically to showcase Solas' tragedy, and it worked. My Lavellan is young and spirited. She's not the type of girl to sink down into death because a man leaves her. She'll be ok. I'm not entirely sure Solas will be ok...

So much this. This is the reason why my Lavellan is going to be furious at him when/if they meet up again. She doesn't care about him being the Dread Wolf. She doesn't even care that much about him giving the orb to Coryflora. Everyone makes mistakes, she's pretty forgiving by nature, and at this point she's stopped assuming she knows anything about gods or magic or whatever.
But that whole "I know better than anyone else" attitude? That is going to enrage her. Between Solas and Flemythal and Coryflora, the next person who tells her "You couldn't possibly understand" is angling for an arrow to the knee. She's a smart cookie, she'll understand if one of you creepy ancient beings would deign to get off the f***ing high horse and explain for a change.

Solas suddenly decides he likes tea and occasionally smiles.
But on the downside, he has now reached incoherent levels of vague speak.

If Flemeth intended for the godhood to pass on to Morrigan, I don't see Solas merging with Mythal's essence except maybe temporarily. The way I understand it is he took on her power, not Mythal herself.
I do wonder what it means for Flemeth though... did her feelings and personality merge with the essence of Mythal, or is she now gone forever? Or maybe she'll pop up out of an amulet one day in the future. ![]()
FOUND THE POST!
Makes a lot of sense... especially with all life seeming to be tied or related to a single origin, including their gods, which are rehashed but follow similar patterns, just like the tat markings.
The Qun itself even seems remnant of a slave culture. They're bred like animals and almost have an animalistic simplicity in how they obey. Which was probably ingrained into them since long ago until it was part of their nature, the way we breed dogs for jobs, except these are sentient beings. Or at least they are now.
Actually, they probably were already and only made more beastlike with dragonblood like Bull suggested. Actually, they were probably elves before.... the ears are somewhat similar.
They'd be very fitting slaves for the gods with them taking the form of dragons. I could see Flemeth with an entourage of similarly horned body guards around her as "honor guards". That'd be awesome.
Okay who hacked the thread
I thought it was just me lagging. Super weird.

Ohh, all the "you wouldn't understand" talk. I love you, Solas, but you stop that right now or I'm taking your ball away.

That's how I saw it too. I think Flemythal was already merged, Mythal can't merge with anyone else. I'd venture Flemeth is gone or going to pop out of another amulet somewhere down the road. I wonder how her death factors into her plans though.

I have a theory that Flemeth might end up living by stealing the old god soul. Because that sounds like the sort of troll she would manage to pull off.
[Although she'd be dead for good if you didn't do the dark ritual.]
