Same here. Though I didn't have you on ignore, lol, but you know what I mean.
I think alive he would have so much guilt still. He's let it make up so much of who he is. Built his entire self around it. I think his death would be a relief for him.
He's not getting any relief in my game if I can help it
Perhaps some of my fondness for poetic justice is showing here; after all, I let Anders live partially so he'd have to endure the war he helped start. Solas's situation is obviously different, but IMO he doesn't get to just check out no matter how bad he feels. Whatever his intentions were, he helped make Thedas what it is today. He has to live in it.
And I don't think he's incapable of change or growth as a character. Half of it seems to be a mental block on his part, a tendency to cling to the past because it's all he feels he has left.
And with that, I'll take your advice and migrate south for the winter to the Abelas thread where I belong.
Liz don't go! ;-;
I am delirious with sickness right now but hopefully this makes sense - *wheezing* - we are all coping with Solas depression in any way we can, and I don't think anyone has the right to tell another person how to cope. Whether it is creative expression, losing ourselves in the lore or working off that tension with the next good-looking guy that comes along. There is no right or wrong, these things are all human reactions, as in real life. Maybe Babelas turns out to be the one Lavellan was meant for, maybe not. But he'll be a nice distraction for a while either way!
Personally I keep occupying myself with theory/studies and avoiding talking too much about Solas and any music/movies that might make me sad because I am afraid that if I stop I might break (yes this may be real life issues too, but still applies). Currently attempting to use functionalism to explain spirits(?) not sure if it's working, expect future tin-foil hat!
Anyway, I don't want to get involved in any "thresholds" or "majorities" or "us vs them" arguments. What I mean to say is, the act of entering a thread and telling someone who has been aching as much as anyone about Solas and chooses to self-medicate by fantasising about Abelas instead? It is that action which is not cool.
(Sorry if this sounds like a rant, it isn't meant to be!)
Justice and Anders were mostly the same person but occasionally Justice would be more prevalent or take over entirely (such as in the Fade).
What? Anders was a totally different person in DA2. I had a major crush on him in Awakening. He was witty, sarcastic, nice, caring, and coward in a cute way. In DA2 all what was left was a constantly whining passive-aggressive hermit. I could barely stand him in DA2. Don't say he stayed mostly the same....
I guess I was one of the only ones in this thread that knew Killabee's sense of humor. I remember when people were accusing him of trolling a few weeks back. I was so bummed, I mean he introduced us to the DENNIS system!
I am hoping no one actually leaves the thread. You are all wonderful people! An argument or two is not going to change that.
Like I said earlier, I think there's merit to keeping Abelas's thread active so that bioware goes: 'Huh, they really like that there Abelas fellow, don't they?' What that doesn't need to translate into is some sort of gang war where you are either in Solas thread or Abelas thread.
Because then we'd have to get sweet tattoos and leather jackets, and practice knife fighting. And I'm awful at knife fighting.
If people are feeling intimidated by fast posts, or off topic content- feel free to post a speculation of your own! Or ask people to talk about their Lavellans. People always want to talk about their headcanons or crazy theories. Don't be nervous about speaking up or rambling.
We are the Jets~ I feel dragon age version would fit this if it weren't for solas/abelas too-many-syllables name. HM!
I am never getting off the disastrous apostate train, even if it's on fire and exploding
I love my apostates who make the worst life decisions.

Hehehe, that's the one
He seemed like a pushover from what I remember of that show... saw it a loong time ago. No offense, but it was mainly because it was the only decent thing on early in the morning, and I'm always an early riser ![]()
snip
Cass... go Cass. One because Solas respects her more than Dorian
two because your quizzy looks young and a young man with an older woman is hot-t-t.
Go easy on 'em Cass, he's new. Lol.

I think the point was more that Anders+Justice's spirit situation was different from, say, Flemeth and Mythal or Kieran and Urthemiel. DA2 Anders+Justice effectively acted as one person, except a few instances in the Fade and on the rivalry path.
The Master - not even the scariest villain on the show
Spoiler
It's Missy now
"Hey missy you're so fine you're so fine you blow my mind ..."
I even had Siha on ignore.
But I decided enough was enough. The pettiness had to stop! I was wrong to be so judgemental! I promised myself to be a better person! Turns out Siha is even more awesome than you are.
Easy easy, lets not go THAT far....
Seriously, she is tho

I agree there are some great people here but i can kinda understand the newbie angsnt. This thread is run by the popular posters, sorta like a click. Person X posts, 10 people want to respond, newbie post get forgotten except for the ones that annoy that click. Boom drama.
I know. The self-sacrifce is the one that's on heaviest rotation in "Solas' Most Tragic Hits"(it's my way of inuring myself to potential heartache). I have this image that you're just standing there, tears streaming down your face telling him 'no, it doesn't have to be this way' but knowing it does. He's all like 'Hush, vhenan' as he wipes tears from your cheeks. He tells you that his time with you was the most at peace and the happiest he's been in his long life. He kisses you one final time...
*shoves you all back into the hellspiral*
... Why would you do this, you cruel soul? I could see it as an ending, though I hope we don't.
Rather, I'd be okay with it as one of several possibilities, but would hope there is at least one option for Solas to not die tragically, even if you have to do some crazy re-gaming backpedaling and picking of really obscure dialogue choices that you didn't initially think meant anything, but oh wait, they did (HI ALISTAIR) to accomplish it. If there is an impending "end" to Solas' character--and I personally suspect there will be, though I'm unsure of how soon it will occur or what it will entail (though I guess all things have an end, so moot point?)--anything where he doesn't die and arrives at some sort of peace is a happy ending, in my books. Even if that option has to be without Lavellan.
Because, y'know. What they had was real.
;_; I'm gonna lie down now.

If he does that - it would be like Mordin. There was no other way to stop xyz catastrophe. Not like him just straight up offing himself. I need my terrible headcanon - it's the worst one so far. So unless BW can top it, I think I'll be good for whatever.

That wasn't what I was trying to say. What I meant was that in DA2 Anders and Justice were inseparable - i.e. the same person - with a few exceptions. If you bring Anders along in the Fade, Justice takes over. He also pops up whenever Anders gets super-angry. So if I were to put the characters we know of from most to least merged it'd look something like:
Flemeth & Mythal
Wynne & Spirit (forget which one)
Cassandra & Faith (I think)
Anders & Justice
Kieran & OGS
On another note, I was wondering about Moses-parallels in Briala? She was, in a sense, "one of the Orlesian nobility" thanks to her position, but then she turns around and decides to be all "let my people go."
No, I don't see the parallel Briala was never one of the "Orelesian nobility" she was Celene's spymaster and secret lover but she never had a public status to renounce and was always expendable.

I personally just got bullied and harassed out of another website that I frequented to get my Disney discussion fix, the same way I come here to get my DAI/Solas discussion fix. I'm kind of afraid to post since everyone kept jumping on everything I said over there, but this place is still much better than most other places on the internet. I hope it stays that way.
EDIT: Team Optimism. Still hope Solas gets a shot at a happy ending.

Can't we love and enjoy both? I mean, I'm clearly hooked on Solas, but Abelas, despite the very short 10 minutes cameo, seems like a very interesting character.
Not fangirling over him, because I need way more than cute thighs and a classy armor to fall in love with a character, but definitely hope to see more of him, for sure.
That means that I have finished my canon Nightmare play through. I've completed all of the achievements! Hooray!
I don't know about anyone else, but my Lavellan was not smiling in that final scene at the end of the game. (I've seen it mentioned that she was smiling and really shouldn't be because Solas effed off in to the sunset) She looks rather angry if you ask me!
Ahah, Inquisitor trophy is the only one left for me. I'll leave it to my boyfriend to get it, with his second playthrough.
And yeah, My inquisitor looked sad while winning the battle with Corypheus, she looked sad while going into her quarters after the party, but on the balcony, she looked pissed as well for weird reasons. Somehow didn't fit for me, but why not.
Well he did open by calling women mean names. I don't think I would have started there myself lol
Lol I was just calling people who had the opinion that Solas wasn't tapping Lavellan naive... that wasn't specific to women ![]()
I still think it's naive, but that's just me. People can have their little headcanons, but in a public forum, one's going to be questioned on it.

Good times, good times.
