So weird enough, I listened to "The Boys are Back" from HSM 3 the entire time I painted this...you know since the Griffons are back...^{I need sleep...}

Thanks, lol. I thought of it at work today and thought I would put into picture form because I enjoy reaping all of the likes. When I decide to be less lazy, I might just put the cover on an in-game picture of Varric holding Swords & Shields so it looks a bit more like a book.

The Kingdom of Orlais, formed by Kordillus Drakon, after he captured the young and innocent King Phillip in the one-sided Battle of Tours. Glory to his name! (And watch out for any Valmonts laying wait in the bushes.  )

Due to how customized kingdoms work, hijacking Aquitaine was the best shot I had. I could go independent, but only get that much according to the rules of war, or I could seize the entire kingdom, but then I wouldn't be able to make it Orlais. (Unless you can customize it, I suppose. But I like the hilarious green color of Aquitaine.  )

But don't worry. France is weak, and Drakon is literally besties with the King of Castille. I just have to wait for the Holy Roman Empire to take a bite out of them, then swoop in. Eventually I should be able to upgrade it to the 'Empire of Orlais'. Hopefully within Drakon's lifetime. It'd be a shame for him to be forever remembered as 'King Kordillus the Hammer of Orlais' instead of his proper title.

It's funny though, how Orlais is a mix of France and Italy to me. I mean, I'm French, I don't recognize myself much in Orlais (even in the horrible frenchy-french accent), because costumes, architecture, boats and all that reminds me mostly of Italy and Venice, but not really France...

Your fine city is indeed the capital of my Orlais.

And I've renamed it Val Royeaux.

Before I head to bed, I'm quickly heading over to an Ireland playthrough. All of the Ferelden teyrnirs.

(The best time for unifying England is during the Vikings Ages. I went through that nightmare with Alfred the Great a month ago. I ain't doing that again. Ireland fits a little bit as well.)
