Ah thanks, I panicked for a second! I've been working on the theory of the Fade being a collective "mental" consciousness. If Envy's goal is to take over the material body of the Inquisitor, that would mean hitching a ride on the causality between mental state and physical event (if subscribing to a type of dualism). The experience of conflict with Envy "in the mind" can be seen as Envy seeping into parts of the internal material brain, parts which correlate to physical stimuli and behavioural responses (which behavourists would argue are mental states) but which do not connect with nonphysical cognitive realizations, such as belief - equally functional in regards to causality (think software and hardware).

I like and agree with this theory. All life is connected to the fade besides the dwarves, who I'm sure something happened to, to change that. Dagna's little vision she had seems to have been her taping into some ancient memory through the red lyrium. Sounds like she was seeing memories of colossal giants.
And I think if there was a maker, it consisted of this united mind. The maker is the fade in other words.
People can stay in the Solas thread if they want because the company is awesome, the drinks are free, the art is good, and the entertainment is first rate. The environment is comforting, welcoming, and familiar. We should be accepting of ALL people, no matter if they still want to bang Solas or not.

Maybe I shall give Vivienne another chance then. I'm not used to not play with at least Solas or Cole, hence why it always makes it difficult to add Vivienne in the mix. Hearing her being awful to characters I relate to/get along with the most is entertaining for at best 2 seconds, and surely quickly falls in the irritating category soon enough.
But now that I've had all the Solas/Cole content I could have, it might be fun to try other combinations not including them at all.

I took it that she was viewing herself as the mountain. Dwarves and the stone and all. Though then there's the whole memory of the shaperate which is actually memory runes(which I didnt know about until recently) maybe she wsa just tapping into those. So you assume a shared consciousness. I cannot provide an explanation for that. One might assume a transmission of signals, successful due to an improved level of awareness of the observer. But this would rather mean implication than a shared mind. We could, in theory, share thoughts by sharing brain waves but I don't see how this would be possible without physical contact (and I am l ready assuming "magic" as a variable here). To that end, red lyrium might work as a sort of buffer store, possibly even amplifier, but it is a bit far fetched.

Ooh, looks like the Dragon Age Keep is no longer in beta. We've now got the custom biography feature, too. Nothing on the Inquisition tiles as of yet, but I feel that's likely going to coincide with DLC announcement. Still neat though.

I recommend giving Viv another go. I try to be friends with everybody on my playthroughs and I value Viv's opinion even if I didn't agree with it. She comes to really care for te Quizzy. She's not cruel and I'm lik 'eh they're adults they can take care of themselves' when she's snarking off. Solas gives as good as she does so I loved having her in a party with him.

Being not interested in him for the romance is not the same thing as not being interested in him at all. Anyone that said they're over the romance, still very much enjoy him as a character. It's called the Solas discussion and Fan thread, not the Solas Romance thread

Lyrium is indeed a bridge. When you drink it, it restores your connection with the fade, increasing mana pools. Red lyrium (and regular) grows, as if to seek something, and is believed to have formed when the world separated from the fade.
When you enchant a weapon with the runes, it draws energy from the fade into it. So the idea of lyrium and connecting things is there.
