Lyrium is indeed a bridge. When you drink it, it restores your connection with the fade, increasing mana pools. Red lyrium (and regular) grows, as if to seek something, and is believed to have formed when the world separated from the fade.
 
When you enchant a weapon with the runes, it draws energy from the fade into it. So the idea of lyrium and connecting things is there.

But if that were the case they wouldn'the have Tranquil making enchantments out of lyrium, would they. It seems like it can't be a direct connection (lyrium = Fade) unless the Rite involves something to stop lyrium from making that link as well. It could, of course. We don'the know much about the Rite of Tranquility, after all.

If I absolutely have to be beaten to a pulp in a dark alley, I'd want it to be Batman doing the honors.

Tranquil lost their connection, so maybe something about being a mage interferes with the connection of lyrium and the object its imbedded to and the fade.

 

And I do think that lyrium's effect can be altered, same as how a signal can be used to jam another signal. That's how templar abilities work.

In other news, broke down and got the Lavellan print. Here's hoping they release the hierophant to pair with it!

Yeah that's one thing from DA:O and DA2 that I wish carried over into DAI.  It's a pain not knowing exactly where you sit on the approval meter.  

 

Hopefully someone else can confirm what I said, or tell me I was wrong.  I know there are videos of it floating around out there.  But that doesn't show what those players did prior to the conversation, so it's only a slight help.

 

In this thread MostlyAutumn (post#574) offers a script which among other things also reads the approval meter.

Solas' tragic mistake. I have no doubt the world he sees is flawed and the world he wants to recover has aspects worth saving, but... he spends so much time admiring the beauty of the Fade and the past, he doesn't see the beauty in the physical world, in the present. He spends so much time focusing on what the People aren't that he doesn't see what they are. And he'll probably pay a terrible price for it.
