That's what I did with my first character, although my choice of Knight Enchanter was more to do with my disgust that the other two specializations weren't specializations in my eye, just a collection of spells from previous games they couldn't or didn't want to fit into the regular skill trees. But I digress.

KE is an amazing spec though, gives you massive tactical freedom, you can go full on battlemage and get in the thick of things with the warriors or hang back and be a standard spell slinger when it requires it. Also Solas quite approves of Knight Enchanter all in all, and as Lavellan  you can even comment that you think the ancient Arcane Warriors would be glad to see one of their ancestors continuing their discipline, and Solas agrees.

I would be lying if I said I didn't pick Knight Enchanter to gain Solas' approval, but I didn't even get the conversation. T_T Vivianne commented on it, even Sera, but nada from Solas. It is a fun spec though!

How do you get Solas to comment on it? I figured I was just too far in the game, but I only got Vivi and Sera to comment on it.

Ahah, same! Was always closest to him in combats, because same range and all.

The downside being : seeing Solas casting Firestorm on the tiniest enemies that only needed three normal hits to die.

Like, wow, thank you Solas. You tried.

(and of course, he never casts it on big bosses ever, because that'd be too clever!)

Glad to know I'm not the only one experiencing that. xD It's hilarious to see.

At one point my partner thought I hated Solas, because out in the field it's usually "Hooray, King Cole the Dragon Slayer kicking ass again!" or "Cassandra I love you, lovely tank!" and then there's "Solas you useless ****, why didn't you barrier me?!" or "Solas you arsewipe why are you using Firestorm on that?!" Poor healers, always getting the blame. xD

Solas comments on all mage specs. Companion comments on specializations have been pretty buggy. Someone here (jellobell?) figured out that if you do All New, Faded for Her before getting your spec, it messed things up and he wouldn't comment. So try getting your spec before doing All New.

there have been a few bi-romance mods coming out as a retaliation. Good for me, since I will reap the mods.

Just to let you know before trying them out is that these romances are subtitled but not voiced. So if solas dated a male, it will be missing dialogue but it'll still be subtitled. Same with Cassandra dating a female.

*sigh*

So, I began writing down the storyline for my second original book and I'm debating on putting some romance in there...but I can't help but think about my favorite written romances (Solas being one of them) .I don't think I can ever write a romance as good as Patrick Weekes can. He just knows how to stab me in the feels and twist the knife.

I know I shouldn't feel that way. In the end, I will write whatever feels right for the characters and the situation. Still, the idea of never measuring up is there...I don't know. Feel free to ignore this post. :/

*edit* Top?? Uh...This is awkward. Here

Aw damn, I suspected as much. I was actually running around trying to find the ore (I think Veridium?) required for the specialization quest, and close enough to the quest zone for Solas to thank the Inquisitor for bringing him, and I thought, "Aw damn, well I can't not do it now, can I?" xD I'll have to watch a video I guess. Mages are fun but I'm only doing one in Inquisition for Nightmare mode. My Lavellans are always archers.  ^.^

Eh, as neat as it would have been to girl-date Cassandra, it would be way too distracting to see things all broken like that. It's not much of a "victory" when it will be clear that This Was Not Meant To Be by virtue of missing voice and bad animations.

I did see some of the male Trev romancing Solas. It was voiced.  The M!Quizzy's  tremulous excitement after the first kiss is all sorts of adorable.  So are they just not fully voiced?  Or not working well?

From the existing dialogue of male inquisitioner recordings I've seen, it's incomplete. Like it won't have the dialogue for the last romance scene. Which I'm so sad about because that's the most heartbreaking scene and I. want. to. see. hearts. breaking.

It's easy to fall into the pit of not being as good as others, but you do owe it to yourself and your writing to kick your backside out of that feeling. Stuff like that is what prevents books from being written. You can always edit and rewrite and fix what's bad... but you can never fix what isn't written. Go forth and write. Who cares who is better or worse. You can be inspired by others, but all you need to measure up to is you.

I imagine the unracegated Solas romance mod will have a horrific amount of clipping and dialogue that makes no sense.

I really wanted to romance Cass with a female Inquisitor (due to liking her character and preferring to play women) but I'm happy enough to roll a male Inquisitor for her and Dorian.  Anyway, I'd prefer to have a fully voiced romance with proper animations rather than a subtitled that I would always know isn't canon.

No more than usual.

Have you tried? I mean, you obviously can write, it's your second book already. And you surely have experienced romance before. Couldn't you write what you think would appeal to you, at least to get going? Solas' romance is, after all, so successful because it is so close to real life. You feel intrigued by somebody, fall in love, get the feeling he reciprocates, and then he leaves you without a convincing explanation (or none at all) and you are left in a black hole, possibly doubting yourself. It's not like Weeks invented this plot...

I love my Lavellan and Solas both being Rift Mages because I can headcanon them training together and spending hours researching with each other.  Plus, it's handy to have two Rift Mages because, well, you know.

Same here. I initially chose rift mage because I wanted it for the roleplaying experience (my Lavellan wouldn't pass up the opportunity to figure out how to use the weird glowing hand) and because "Your Trainer" amused me. But I fell in love with the spec itself. Pull of the Abyss makes me feel like I'm a Mass Effect Space Wizard again, and I will never get tired of stonefisting enemies off high places (screw you, archers!) It just gives you so much control over the battlefield, so I can sit back and herd unsuspecting enemies into the path of my Warriors, and then keep them in place while Solas and I call down elemental fury upon them. And if anyone even tries going near us I can just keep knocking 'em down.

I was initially excited for KE, but it's so broken that I don't really find it all that fun. If I wanted to tank I would've played a warrior.

Yeah, I managed to get him to comment by finishing up all of the specialization stuff before doing ANFFH. I'd gotten the Fade Kiss and the tea scene, and had accepted the quest, but I just hadn't done it yet. Somehow that made the dialogue trigger properly. I've only tried it as a Rift Mage, though.

Also, I'd recommend doing your spec before ANFFH anyways if you want to become a rift mage. You get a cool extra dialogue choice during the mission if you do. Doesn't affect much other than the health of the pillars you have to destroy, but I really liked that the option to call attention to your rift magery was there.

Yeah, it was on the nexus mod page under videos.  It's just the "i've never done anything like this before, on a number of levels'.  Trevelyan was pretty stoked.  I would assume the major issues would be for just the male PC?  If you used a female Quizzy - no matter the race - would the voice acting still work?  Just the cinematics would be off. In the final scene I'm just imagining Solas giving Adaar a passionate kiss to her breasts.

The voices would work but there would only be dialouge for an elven PC.  I'd assume that that m!Solas romance dialouge is also meant for a Lavellan.

Solas's mind has really gone downhill since leaving Skyhold.

PS: Thank you Kissiebear for the idea / convo.

Well, actually, someone on Tumblr already had done this thing, the SAILORQUISITION.

Solas is Tuxedo-chan in it, so it's not the same (but still pretty damn fun).

I was initially excited for KE, but it's so broken that I don't really find it all that fun. If I wanted to tank I would've played a warrior.

It's not a lot of fun to actually play, but dem passives. I don't think it's broken?? You just can't cast whatever that weaken spell is if you're using Solas, because the two apparently will cancel each other out. Isn't that also the case with two mages casting Pull of the Abyss? When I was playing my Trevelyan rift mage, I used Dorian and Vivienne mostly.

Anyway, the main satisfaction of KE is giving the big middle finger to enemies that try to pull you in, like dragons and revenants. Those are the ones who get hurt the most from Spirit Blade because it knocks out guard and armor. Otherwise I never used it and stuck to elemental spells.

I admit that Pull of the Abyss + Fire Mine was a lot of fun and downright dastardly. I was siding with templars, too, so all those Venatori spellbinders who set their little fire mines... pff, amateurs.

So just keep going. The moral of the story is that we're all frauds. Lying our way to mastery. YOU CAN DO IT.

This is especially true for writers. You make your living by telling lies, but at least the people paying you know what they are getting into. :D

Hey girl, it's okay. I wake up every morning wondering when people will realize that I'm a fraud. That what I do is a joke or that I'm as bad as I fear I am! But that's okay. You know why? Because EVERYONE is afraid they're a fraud making their way through whatever creative endeavor they're involved in!

So just keep going. The moral of the story is that we're all frauds. Lying our way to mastery. YOU CAN DO IT.
