Does anyone else really dislike the Keeper robes on Solas? I'm just not that into their design in general, and I much prefer his hobo robes (battlemage mail!).

I feel like I'm admitting to heresy.

I much prefer him in battlemage gear as opposed to anything else, so you are not alone. The keeper one is okay, but I do not prefer it.

Nope. I think they look horrible on him. Sort of like he's some futuristic sci-fi space magician pulling bunnies from a hat at a kid's birthday party. Also might be my imagination, but it tends to give him the too-scrawny starving male elf looking shoulders. Nothanks.

 

I go all battlemage mail, all the time. Now THAT looks good on him...

I don't like them but only because every time I see them all I can think is 'WHHY? WHY DOES HE GET SUCH AMAZING ROBES AND WHEN I WEAR THEM I'M IN MERRILL'S TERRIBLE POST ROMANCE ARMOUR?'  (before I learnt about mods the thing that stopped me from romancing Merrill was that ugly armour she got).

 

I kind of want to kick the Dalish woman wandering the gardens out of Skyhold for daring to wear a female version of the male High Keeper Robe.  IT'S IN THE GAME, BIOWARE.  WHY DON'T YOU LET ME WEAR IT?

I managed to get the schematic off a dragon drop, I think, and messed around with them a fair bit in crafting, but just couldn't get them to look right. The pattern makes me think of an epileptic zebra or something. But yeah, the armour that dropped for me at some point had that pastel lavender colour, and even though they're statistically better for dear Solas, I can't help keeping him in his pretty wolf pelt hobo suit.

 

Solas just runs off with whatever armor you have him in anyway. At the end, I dressed him to be pretty rather for stats. I couldn't stop him from leaving but I could stop him from taking my tier 4 mats with him.

Yeah, that's one of my bigger issues with them, too. They make him look kinda noodly, in comparison to the battlemage mail that totally emphasizes his shoulders. (Fashionquisition.)

That's one of my favourite mods!  Although I do tend to keep him as close to vanilla as possible, so no high keeper robes for me.

Actually, scratch that, I want Abelas armor for my Inquisitor first.

More often than not, on the battlements near Cullen, there's this NPC wearing it, and I'm like "WHERE YOU FOUND IT, GIB TO QUIZZIE I COMMAND YOUUU".

Haven't worked so far.

Mine was bright orange, so it was kinda meeeeeeeh. He looked too classy and fabulous, even Dorian was rather bland next to him.

But I can't deny I've been seriously wanting to see Solas in Temple of Mythal's elves armor, Abelas-style. Like, REALLY wanting it.

 

Ha! Solas looks so unhappy. "... I cannot hear myself over my outfit." I am so on board with needing to see Solas in some ancient elf armour. Like, just for one private evening. A little ancient-elf-guardian-has-a-passionate-and-forbidden-tryst-with-the-secretly-remarkable-dalish-huntress, perhaps.

I actually really like the Dalish hunter armour. I would wear that for real, if I could get away with it. With some slight modifications, like no chain mail bodysuit underneath, and stuff. But I agree: female keeper robes are much nicer!

I know, what a jerk. I think I might throw him into the ugliest keeper robes I can craft for the final fight. That'll teach him.

 

OHBUTWAIT. What if when we next see him he's in whatever he was equipped with last? That is a backfire I cannot risk.

Do you mean the female version of the male high keeper robes? (that is a very odd sentence to type).  Because I hate the one that the Inquisitor and Mhiris wear.  I'd much rather have the Dalish hunter armour as the mage armour, or a female version of the male robes (which exists in the game, the player just can't wear it!).

 

There's a mod for DA2 which switches the chainmail and cloth parts of Merrill's first armour around.  It looks much more comfortable to wear.

I'm trying to find a pic, but failing! I meant the female elf in the garden at Skyhold's outfit, unless I'm remembering what she's wearing incorrectly. Is that the one you mean? I don't know that I've even seen the Inquisitor keeper robes (I play rogues too much), and I can't remember who Mhiris is. Hahaha. I think I need to boot the game.

 

OH! Found a screen of Mhiris. I remember her now. Yeah, not those ones. Though they are still better than the male keeper robes, IMO.

 

Edit: P.S. - Switching the cloth and chainmail in the hunter armour makes a lot more sense. Seriously, that chainmail bodysuit would be AWFUL at conserving heat. And not comfortable at all. But I still think it's pretty.

It's fine, but I do like them, though I wish they were green and gold instead of the orange. Nobody looks good in orange.

I've never gotten that battlemage mail schematic once, and I refuse to farm. The battlemaster set gives him the plastered arms in most cutscenes. So, keeper robes it mostly is.

I think I've lucked out; each PT I've found at least one set of the battlemage mail without any kind of farming. I'd like the schematic, though. For optimal pretty.

Has anyone else seen this guy up on the battlements? Pretty curious. Especially considering this is fairly early on in my game. I hadn't been at Skyhold for too long. Had only just talked to Hawke for the first time. This is right after talking to Cullen about how he quit lyrium. I walked out of his office using the right side door and walked right into these guys... One of them is apparently an ancient elf.

It's obviously not a compliment.

 

And the first words out of his mouth when he saw Solas during the prologue were "big eared bastard." How do I stop the weird jealousy, guys. How. (Obv. me not obsessing over Solas is not an option ^__^). Despite this, he's been taking Solas everywhere on his play through, so I KNOW HE LIKES HIS CHARACTER TOO so there.
