I would guess that the panel is over... I had the sinking feeling we weren't going to get any new romance news.  Looks as if I was right.  Alas... I really want to know, so I can media blackout and avoid knowing everything.  The only thing I want to know is:  Will my Dalish Inquisitor have to be celibate?  Other than that, I will let the game events mostly shape her personality, other than she's going to be inclined to favor mages and elves (city as well as Dalish).  So, I don't need or want to know every event in-game, especially not the bigger spoilers.

Yeah, I agree, and it isn't fair to those of us who don't want the entire game spoiled, and just want to know who the last LIs are... especially when we've been waiting around for so long in the fan threads, and gone through so many ups and downs.

 

I mean, it's not the end of the world if we don't know, but, come on, you told the other fans... we want to know too.  Even if it's bad news for this thread, it's good news for someone.

Completely random, but Solas related, so here goes. My friend, who knows nothing about Solas, when I mentioned his name, said 'he sounds like he should be bald, because Solas sounds like Solar Panels' It made me giggle, so I thought I'd share

so talked with some of the design guys after the panel today, and off the top of his head (i think it was Nick) said that they were looking at all sorts of bones, but he thought they settled on Solas' necklace being a wolf jaw bone.

I think it's pretty much a given that Solas will be a LI. I wasn't sure at first, but then when I found out that the last two romances will be race-restricted, it dawned on me pretty clearly who they'd likely be. They would have to be two out of these four:

 

1. Solas

2. Varric

3. Blackwall

4. Vivienne

 

Blackwall is pretty much out as he'd have to be restricted to humans, and that's just very implausible given his background (the Grey Wardens recruit from every race but Blackwall will only romance humans? - highly unlikely!). Varric is an option, but also an unlikely choice given his role in the previous game - he's the eternal sidekick, the storyteller, the one who observes what's going on from the sidelines. Even then, that wouldn't totally rule Varric out if not for Solas being a much likelier choice than him, and they can't have the last two romances both be male or there'd be a gender imbalance. So, that leaves Solas and Vivienne, both of whom have very good reasons to be race-restricted romances. Solas is an elf, a hedge mage, probably an eternal outsider who lives on the outskirts of society - it makes sense why he'd stick to his own kind. Vivienne has even better reasons for only sticking to humans given her position - no romancing of dwarves, Qunari, or elves for someone so keen on political maneuvering and ascending to the top. I predict she'll be the Morrigan of this Dragon Age game, one with her own less than selfless agenda who may eventually end up breaking the hero's heart.

 

So, there you have it...the final two romances in DAI: Solas and Vivienne! I'm almost willing to bet that I'll prove correct.

I wonder if it has greater significance like Cat Lance says. Relating to Fen'Harel... WELL, in any event, I can't say much since I haven't read the books so... yeeeeeep!

I don't think we actually know it's the last two that will be restricted. I don't recall them saying one way or the other if it was. People have been assuming so, though I am not sure why. Cullen is just as likely to be restricted if he's got a problem against Qunari after Kirkwall, for example.

Soooo, no new news AT ALL? 

 

I can't even have a sense of humour about this anymore.  I'm starting to think they're either holding out on the last two LIs because something's gone wrong with their development of them, or they're so spoilerific that we're not going to find out till we play the game.  I know Gaider said otherwise, but jfc...

 

This is going to sound so whiny and entitled, but it sucks that everyone else has been able to celebrate and anticipate playing through their chosen LIs, apart from the Solas/Varric/BW/Viv fans.  I mean, the Varricmancers have been waiting YEARS to find out, and there's a 50/50 chance they're going to be told straight up 'no' after a wall of silence on the subject.  It's bad enough being a Solas fan and trying to get by on crumbs, but then the Blackwall fans don't even know his VA.

 

Just...what gives? If they weren't going to say anything at CC, couldn't they have TOLD US BEFOREHAND? All they seemed to be able to do was talk about That Chair and YET MORE Iron Bull 

 

I'm a total spoiler-w***, so the leak doesn't bother me, but there are loads of people who would prefer to avoid finding stuff out and go on a blackout now things are being leaked, but don't want to until they find out the last LIs.  I know that's their prerogative, but again it sucks that (for example) IB and Sera fans are able to move back from the forums if they wish and avoid spoilers, but those of us in the picked-last-for-the-team camp have to stick around

...one thing I find a little strange about Blackwall...is his real name Blackwall? it sound more like a surname or a nikname than a real name  maybe his name is a big spoiler? (no. is not because I'm reading the Calling and I have some illogical hope...  not at all)

Oh? Everything I've read online seemed to indicate to me that the last two are race-gated. For example, it emerged that Iron Bull is open to all races and genders - I assumed we would have discovered whether any of the other revealed romances were race-gated, too, since we've certainly found out that some are gender-restricted (Sera and Dorian) or bi (Josephine). I suppose you could be right, though, and you have a very good point about Cullen.

 

However, even disregarding the race restrictions, the last two will have to be from the four I mentioned: Vivienne is in since she's the only female left, so that leaves us with the last three guys. I think Varric is out because of the reasons I gave earlier, and I guess if race restrictions don't apply, it'd be pretty much a toss up between Solas and Blackwall. I'm still slightly inclined to favour Solas, though, given the backgrounds of the two and the likelihood of race restriction.

 

I suppose they could also go with Blackwall as a 'hardened Alistair'-type romance, too. Either way, it's just so much fun speculating and this is the first time in my life that I can't wait for November to come!
