Just read through like 100 pages. Why does this thread move so fast?
This won't be anywhere near on topic, but resurrecting anyway because it got me wondering things.
This makes me wonder what the heck the Anchor really is since it functions like a bridge as well. I mean, even a dwarf Inquisitor gets the Solas dream sequence and dwarves aren't supposed to be able to dream at all.
Also, I really hope there's some future content that makes use of the Inquisitor's ability to dream with such focus. The first thing I wanted to do after Leliana talks about Solas's home village was to travel there and fall asleep to see if there were any memories of his childhood lingering in the fade.
Same thing with the Temple of Mythal, maybe dreaming there would reveal more information about ancient Arlathan or even Mythal's betrayal. It just seems like such a great opportunity to dig deeper into elven history with smaller stories that don't necessarily need to tie into the main campaign.
I want to see this. Whether DLC or fanfic or something. Gimme gimme Solas childhood! (Just give me Wolf Hunt. *weep*)
So...is ordering a steak for lunch wrong? Cuz I just ordered a NY STRIP and it's only 1:30 in the afternoon lol
Is it wrong to have coffee and jalepeno poppers for breakfast? Because it's noonish, and this is what I need in my life right now.
Mmmmm ToP!

It's kinda like the opposite of the tranquil ritual, huh? Instead of cutting you off from the fade, it makes it a thing almost natural for you. My theory is it's a piece of Fen'harel's spiritual energy. Maybe a piece of his essence.
Like how Cassandra's mind was touched by a demon and her mind returned and her connection to the fade was linked again, making her normal, this does the same thing but in opposite. It increases it dramatically. Not put in your skull like the tranquil, but your hand, which is what mages use to draw energy from the fade. Or manipulate it anyway.
it used to be 4 but I never show up on time and nothing really happens until later at night. Also I sometime walk into a chat with everyone's Mic muted.
aww thats too bad well! I gotta stay up for one night completely to talk with you guys!! But maybe I'll do it the next week in the end of the week since I am having holidays ![]()

Of course, it is anything but explained, but there is a good discussion here.
What is Solas's plan?
I think it is simply to eliminate the magisters who trespassed into the golden city and thus save Thedas from future pain. I also believe he thinks he will die in this attempt and therefore he decided to break up with Lavellen in order to protect her and also so that she could continue her work with or without the inquisition.
Happy to discuss.

And if anything, I'm the one hoping for the S&M.
Maybe not their kind of S&M, lol. I think it may end up turning you off from it forever. Not because it's weird since there's a lot out there much weirder as you surely know, but because of how bad that movie likely is. If the rule of the book is always better holds true... then holy crap the movie must be terra-bad. Any time you even think of getting weird, some terrible line from that movie's gonna come up and turn off your lady boner like that. Don't do it, Ave. Don't take the red pill.
Happy to discuss.
I really would want to, but I honestly have no idea even where to begin speculating. All I know is I'm sure it's not tearing down the veil. Yet. Too much missing info to guess what he is trying though, imo.
I think it'd be a little less benign as just killing ancient magisters though. And likely involves the other gods.

I'm really hoping we see more anchor shenanigans. Dragon Age has a lot of fantasy elements, but it tends to be grounded in realism. Which is great, and I wouldn't want that to change. But...once in a while, a good crazy romp into fantasy would be fun. And I think the whole elven/Fen'Harel lore is a good place to make use of it. Something a bit different from the usual fade stories we've gotten.
What if we got to go to some sort of mirror of ancient Arlathan? Or interact with the spirits of the fade? Apparently Solas counts many of them among his friends. Surely they are curious what he's up to?
I'd love to see a really magical DLC. Probably the most nondescript term ever. Something still within grounded in Dragon Age 'lore', but very fantastical.

Like Shivering Isles was for Oblivion. I'd like to explore the void...
o One of the reasons why I knew Bull's romance wouldn't work out for her. She's just too egocentric to ever let someone have that much power over her.
To quote a Cole banter
:
Cole: "You act like you're in charge, the Iron Bull, but it's really him. He decides when, and you measure it carefully, enough to enjoy, to energize, but never to anger. He's tied, teased, tantalized, but it's tempered to what he wants. He submits, but you serve."
Iron Bull: "D'ya mind, kid? If you take away all the mystery, it's not as hot."
Inquisitor: "Bull? Yes it is."
Iron Bull: "Right! My mistake. Carry on, kid."
I think about the vallaslin a lot.
From an anthropology journal, the article is studying the practice of female facial tattooing among the Maisin tribe of Papua New Guinea. The only tribe to still practice this tradition. The argument of the article is that the tradition came to a halt for the other tribes due to colonialism/conversion, etc--but the Maisin tribe recontextualized the practice, i.e. the meaning of the ritual has gathered new significance--one that is markedly different from the original purpose. Thus, they were able to reclaim their tradition and carry it forward given new meaning:
"The study of the techniques, aesthetics, and cultural significance of Maisin tattooing, in our view, cannot be understood without considering the surprising resilience of the practice. Like most coastal Melanesiana the Maisin have long participated in the colonial and post-colonial social order. In the course of becoming Christians, submitting to a Western education system, and entering the cash economy, they have abandoned some customary practices, adopted or fashioned new ones, and tinkered with many others. Our analysis of Maisin tattooing is shaped by an interest in the linkages between changes in the external economic and political conditions of Collingwood Bay communities and modifications of cultural institutions within the society. We will argue that Maisin tattooing needs to be understood historically. As the conditions of their lives have changed, the Maisin have discovered new reasons to tattoo adolescent girls and, in the process of recontextualization, have found new significance in the custom."
In other news, I just can't remove the vallaslin anymore. I did it my first time. I just don't think I can do it anymore. Sorry, Solas.

That's a really interesting article, and explores a lot of what I study in my Judaism or Native American classes. When you're part of a small minority religion/culture that's been overtaken by a larger, more dominant religion/culture, and are being changed and assimilated into it, your people develop a balancing act of adapting and retaining. You don't want all of your culture to be erased, but you can't hold onto it 100% and completely reject/get left out of the modern world either. So, how much do you change and how much do you retain? And often, over the course of retaining, the traditoins you hold onto develop a different meaning from before.
As for vallaslin: Exactly the reason I could never remove them! Welcome to the vallaslin club! ![]()

Yep, I read that, and was like, "this is basically exactly why my Lavellan kept her vallaslin." ![]()
