I'm being forced to play poker I've never played it before I've benn drinking need help

Oh yes! I'd love to help. Mostly because I'd be in Northern Ireland then. And drunk. Oh well.

Should I play for you? You can even choose: should I win or get you out of it as quickly as possible (minor financial loss possible)?

That's my theory.  This is the second time Inky holds the Orb.  It could be that the power in it went to join the rest.  It's why it broke so easily and why it can't be repaired.

I think that even after being depleted sealing the Breach, it could have been powered up again filling it with enough raw magic power. What I have an issue with is that such a powerful artifact is rendered useless simply by being broken. Couldn't it be repaired with a special tool, such as the one Merrill requests from Marethari? (I can't remember its name) I get that it was necessary due to plot issues, but it seems a bit weird.

Perhaps the means to repair it no longer exist, or would take a very long time with current resources.

When I first saw that scene I was like, "let's just...find some glue." :P

But if it's just a change in appearance, then it would be an illusion, and the way it works in DAO, it doesn't look like an illusion. The mage actually transforms their body into those of other creatures'. They maintain their consciousness of course, but their bodies become completely different, and how do you take on a blighted creature's form without also taking in the blight? And it's only masters who can take on blighted forms, so while it's OP, only a handful of mages get to reach that rank.

Edit: I may be sleep-deprived at the moment. I do apologize if I'm being dense or not making sense

I'm a bit late to the party, but doesn't Morrigan have a dialogue with Shale where Shale keeps pestering her about shapeshifting, and Morrigan lets slip that you have to study the soul of a creature to transform into it?

Darkspawn don't have souls, but I guess bear ghouls do?

I'd love it if it was Mythal's orb. The idea of Solas having another friend that isn't a spirit (or at least wasn't before she was betrayed), and one that lasted through all that time to the point of Mythal willingly allowing herself to be absorbed or whatever it was that happened makes me feel better for the egghead. ^_^

I like that idea too.  Especially since we've now discovered that Fen'Harel isn't exactly the figure we've been told he is after two games.  Although I admit we don't know all sides of him yet, we were given a good indication that the Dalish stories are very wrong.  It's sad that until Inquisition his only friends were spirits.  I am really hoping that we get more insight into the time of Arlathan and the Elven Pantheon.  The Arbor Wilds and the revelations that came as a result of it have shifted things so much, for me.

I know some folks have been wanting the game to go back to being darker.  And I am saying this as someone who wasn't exactly a big Dalish fan.  I enjoyed their lore and what not, but I never felt the pull to them like a lot of the Solas fans do.  I really loved the shift in the second half of the game, the Temple of Mythal was such a highlight for me.  If they don't give us more via DLC or the next game then I am really hoping for a book or two or something.

Solas, oh Solas.  Forgetting the romance for a moment... I don't think I have rooted for a DA character to have some good come their way as much as I do for Solas.  To be so misunderstood by your entire people for so long.  Nevermind whatever it was he had to do to the Creators.  I can empathize a bit, because one thing that truly bothers me is when someone has the wrong impression of me, or thinks I am something I am not.  I hope BioWare doesn't squander the potential they have for some great stories in the DA universe with what they've set in motion, and Solas.

I also keep the Vallaslin. For basically what the in-game line says: "Whatever they meant in the past, they're important to me now."

(or... something close to that)

"Whatever they meant in the past, the Dalish have reclaimed them. They mark me as one of them." :D

If Solas presses, I love choosing "No, they're important to me." Lavellans says out loud, "Even if what you say is true, I don't think I can just let you erase them."

When it's crunch time and you have to make a choice, I love what they both say when she chooses to keep them.

Lavellan: I know you told me because you wanted to help, but [the vallaslin] is part of who I am. If you could only see past...

Solas: Please stop. *smiles* You are perfect exactly as you are.

AWWWE! <3

In all seriousness, yeah. It's been thousands of years since Arlathan, and it's implied the Dalish have picked the them up only in the last 700 years. It's inevitable that they would have different meanings now from ancient times. Yeah, their ancient function was slave-markings to honor their master's gods, but now they're willingly taken on by free people to honor their gods. More than that, vallaslin have become ritualistic rites of passage that mark elves as members of the Dalish, and symbolize their dedication to their heritage, tradition, culture, and people. My Lavellan always felt her vallaslin symbolized these things, and felt that discarding them because they used to have a shady meaning would be symbolically discarding everything good about her heritage, culture and people because it used to be bad. And all people's histories and cultures have flaws, so why throw the baby out with the bathwater?

I'm not sure if it's studying the soul exactly, as much as understanding something to the point where the mage can shift into the mindset of the thing...and literally becomes the thing.  At least that's how I've always understood the shapeshifting.

I would love more ancient elf shenanigans. I am really hoping for elf cults. Forgotten Ones, crazy creators. Does not matter! Just give me some crazy elf cultists trying to bring back their respective gods.

Since Flemeth refers to it as "your orb" when speaking to Solas, I'm just assuming it belongs to him.  On-screen evidence weighs heavier for me than file names.

I guess I've always considered the Anchor a separate piece from the orb itself. Kind of like a special item locked way inside a box. Yes, the orb is in Solas's possession at some point, but that doesn't necessarily make the Anchor his as well, if that makes any sense.

Cory uses the orb to enhance his own power even after the Anchor is removed, but he can't step physically through the fade with it. I don't know, they just feel separate to me. Besides, if you had something as powerful as the Anchor and didn't want it to fall into the wrong hands, where would you keep it safe? How about an artifact belonging to an elven god?

Solas has never been physically through the fade right? If the power of the Anchor originally came from him, how can that be? I know he doesn't always tell the whole truth, and some folks touched on his tricky words during Adamant some pages back. But he's just so... filled with geekish delight at being there. That emotion seemed genuine to me.

I was so bummed that we didn't see anything from The Last Court in the game aside from the missions.  Would be cool if it's in a DLC or something.

Okay, I've been spending the passed few weeks trying to draw my girl, and I'm slowly getting there but I would like some opinions, namely colour. Her head is fine, but I'm stuck on her clothes. Ilaria's an archer, so she favors really earthy colours for camouflage, but I'm not too happy with what she has now. Since we have some wonderfully creative people here, I was hoping some of you might lend your creative eyeballs:

Well, symbols do change and will always change and I really hope the Dalish keep the vallaslin even after this revelation.I like that what was once a slave brand, they now wear as a symbol of freedom, that represents their refusal to "bend their knee".Even Solas admits that despite what he said about them he respects their indomitable will.

What I'd love is if Josie asked Inky 'do you know anything about the Marquis of Serault?' and could answer 'I hear she's a famous hunter' or 'I hear he's quite the scholar' and the Marquis is dependent on which you pick (since TLC isn't connected to any worldstate it would be a good way of ensuring you get to meet the proper ruler of Serault).

Hey girl, it's okay. I wake up every morning wondering when people will realize that I'm a fraud. That what I do is a joke or that I'm as bad as I fear I am! But that's okay. You know why? Because EVERYONE is afraid they're a fraud making their way through whatever creative endeavor they're involved in!

So just keep going. The moral of the story is that we're all frauds. Lying our way to mastery. YOU CAN DO IT.

...You broke the Super-Secret-Pinky-Swear-To-Conceal-Our-Fraudulent-Artistic-Endeavors. :(

God I hope I did the spoiler tags right... It's going to be terribly embarrassing if I did not.

Aaaaaaanyway. If I interrupt the theory sharing, I apologize. xD Feel free to ignore me if I'm a nuisance. I just decided to post this while some courage remains within me.

*Cough* I hope I did everything correctly. *Cough*

As I said before, my artwork is, frankly, horrendous. My chibi sketches are some of my better, though. Even so, they're still pretty awful. x3 Sadly. But anyway, here's a chibi Solas. And the link, just in case I screwed up the picture upload process. I apologize for the crappy cellphone camera quality, and for the less than satisfactory quality of my sketch. Especially his necklace. I did a bad, bad job on the necklace.

*Quietly goes to hide out of shame and plan to improve the sketch.*

I see the Anchor as a function of the orb, and I figure it's as much Fen'Harel's power as the orb is his.  The orb, maybe could be seen as an operating device, and the Anchor as a program.  I suspect for the intended user with full access who understands how to use it, the orb and Anchor function could probably do much more than simply opening portals and walking the raw Fade, though I imagine that's the big reason Solas wanted it.

He no longer has the power access his orb would have provided, so he goes to take it from Mythal instead.  Now what I wonder, is the power alone enough?  Or is he still going to need something like the Anchor?  Possibly while it's still stuck in Quizzy's hand?

As far as Solas never physically being in the Fade...  I don't know if I believe that he hasn't.  Especially with Flemythal being able to do so.

But these are just my own thoughts on what's going on with him.
