Solas came pre-loaded with a lovely term of endearment in the form of "vhenan." Calling his lover "da'len" would probably raise a few eyebrows. At the very least, my Lavellan would not appreciate being called "little child" by the man she's taking to her bed. Perhaps if they were not lovers and she was quite young, it would work. If people are writing that in to their stuff because they somehow like the idea, I guess more power to them... but if they aren't aware what the terms mean or how they are used, that could be awkward.

 

I agree! I also find "vhenan" sweeter. 

 

I guess that using hahren/da'len bothers me because where I'm from, that kind of relationship is not considered... well, virtuous, maybe? I'm not sure how to describe it. To me, it seems to denote someone of an older/younger generation, which is why I feel like it is inappropriate.

I wonder why he chooses that particular word as an endearment.  Solas is pretty precise in his language, even when he's lying or omitting information, and he uses it as a way of distancing himself from the world.  Lavellan can even point out during his personal quest that he's known for not needing help.

 

But he calls her his "heart," something he couldn't live without, something that sustains and gives life.

I knew going in the end game and I just...I still didn't expect to be so affected. I wish I would have had her punch him...then kiss him...then walk away crying before he got a full draw pulled on him. 

 

 

Same here... I mean, I already knew that he was going to break up with my Lavellan, but it still hurt more than expected... 

 

I just finished the game last night and ugh, the feels are ruining me!

 

But remember: even if he broke up with Lavellan he still loves her. He can't even say he doesn't when she asks him to.

I also wanted that option for my quizzy... She would have raised her hand to hit him, but draw back and hide her face because the tears are starting to flow. 

 

And I didn't even plan on romancing him when I started with this character... I thought you could flirt with him but it would ultimately not go anywhere, like flirting with Harding or Dorian (as a female) does. How very wrong I was...

 

After he broke up with my Lavellan I had to switch over to my Lady Trev and start on her romance with Cullen. I needed something sweet after that.

I just got to the latest chapter of "By the Still Waters", a fanfic by emilyenrose, and it's got a very interesting theory on Kirkwall when it was still Emerius. I don't know if it's ever been suggested here. This was the first time I encountered this theory though, so I thought might as well as share it with you guys. I recommend reading the fic itself first, because it's really good, but if you're not interested, here's the theory:

Kirkwall was where the magisters entered the Black City, through labyrinths deep beneath Darktown. That's what the insane amount of blood rituals were for, and why the city was built the way it was.

 

The fanfic posits that there was even an ancient elven altar deep beneath Kirkwall, complete with eluvian and orb, though to which god is still unclear, and I'm finding that harder to believe since we've never had any suggestion of anything that specific. An entrance though, I can see it having been the case.

 

And if we add in SeaBassChan's theory that perhaps Sundermount was where Fen'Harel slumbered, then it makes even more sense, because of course he would have fallen asleep right next to where he sealed the gods, assuming that ritual had drained him completely.

I always picture Dalish elves having these kind of dances (there has been some discussion pages ago about Dalish music and dance) Even ancient elves, perhaps, had intricate and slow dances that could last for days, but I imagine Solas enjoying the more primal dances remaining from the first days of elven existence (sorry I got a bit carried out by my imagination here)

For some reason, I imagine her dancing to be a totally frenetic combination of African tribal dancing, belly dancing, First Nations grass dancing and some generally crazy **** mixed with some contemporary goodness. I don't know. I can picture it in my head.

 

And then I imagine my Lavellan gets a bit tipsy in the pub one night after a day of successful questing with her pals, and without warning Maryden surprises her with a Dalish tune she'd endeavored to learn just for her, and she loses her mind in the best way and goes all dancing badass on them and Solas is amazed and confused and alarmed and has such a massive boner for her and doesn't know what to do with himself so he just stands there, hands clenching tightly until he dies.

 

It is GLORIOUS.

I always pictured some kind of celebration by a big bonfire at Skyhold (maybe just a random celebration to loosen up the people of Skyhold, or maybe it's in celebration for one of the Thedosian holidays) with Tala suddenly dragging Solas from the rotunda to have him join in the celebration and then a scene like this eventually happening.

 

 

Plus, you know how some people have this belief that dancers are good in bed?

Rogue Rain, haha.  Oh boy that sounds like a name someone would give to a character because they were trying to be 'deep' or something.  Complete with pale skin, black hair, and eyeliner.  Or that could just be the need for sleep talking.

Super late here.  Sadie, my cat, has been yelling (meowing) at me and running across my keyboard for the last 10 mins because that's her 'subtle' hint that she wants to go to bed.  (yes my cat let's me know when she'd like me to go to sleep because she wants to cuddle with me.)
