Wait, you get undressed to prove your masculinity?
If you're at the beginning of DAO you will not meet him in a long while. He is introduced in the post-game DLC Awakening and will then be re-introduced as a completely different person in DA2. I had a major crush on Anders in Awakening but what was left of him in DA2 was only a shadow of himself, a pathetic wimp. If you romance him he will even force you to let him move in with you right after the first night spent together. I don't care that he blew up the Chantry. In fact that was one of the few moments where I could respect him because he was willing to stop whining and do something to fight for what he believes in.
The first kiss -especially in a rivalmance- was pretty awesome though, I give him that.
Should you wish to romance him I'd suggest a rivalmance because he's so much more alive there.
Ahaha, yes that didn't come out right at all, Delphine, lol.
And YES, my biggest problem with Anders was him pre hilarious Chantry pownage as well. You don't just take one of the funnier and charming characters in a game and make him a total knob... you just don't do that! I'd rather they made a new character or something. Which they may as well have. And it really rubbed me the wrong way how even if you try to turn him down nicely, he still gets all pissy for it. So I'm a dick to him from the start just to avoid that happening altogether.

I don't have to. It's so big it raises the stats of my country compared to all other European ones.

You mean Frederic? Have you not yet encountered him?
Nah, I've met and recruited Frederic, it's not him. If I understood correctly, he was not in the games, but was part of the lore. I shall ask my boyfriend to see if he remembers who that is. But yeah, he seems to remember that someone tried to communicate with dragons.

Yeah, figured I'll see more of them both during DA2 anyway. And I don't know who I'll romance anyway, IF I romance anyone to begin with. Still not over the damn bald elf.

Nothing ever does, and that's how I like it.

I'm a little late on this, but I just wanted to say oh gosh this is giving me new things to think about. And down the hellspiral we go.I love that picture (even if I don't understand the Abelas obsession, he seemed like a sad ass to me xD), but because I'm awkward I wanted to point out that Solas meant the Inquisitor kissing him first was impulsive and ill-considered, and his fault was encouraging it. I've noticed a few people get it mixed up. Just ignore me if I've gotten myself mixed up though.
But I did want to mention how the first kiss is always a bit sad for me after my first playthrough because we kiss him for a complete misconception. He's talking, in his own enigmatic way, about how we've completely changed his plans, but we think he's complimenting us. ;_; Poor girl. At least he likes us back. x)

It figures that after people start calling out men for being silly about masculinity, that a woman brings up penis sizes first
And not just any woman, but an Orlesian, who obviously have the most to prove out of everyone else

It figures that I'm doing that to prove the point of how silly these shenanigans are. Having been used to play video games in male-dominated environments, I'm bound to have to deal with such "masculine rivalry" about who has the best gear, who is the best on the server, who is whatever else they want to appear like to be some kind of stupid alpha male in a wolf pack. It's my own way of making fun of it all.

Siha, men have to undress to prove their masculinity. How else would we be able to see who has a bigger dick?
You know how size doesn't matter, it's all only about performance. What's true for a server is true for anything.

So I was thinking about a superficial analysis of what Solas tells you he has seen in the fade and what it could tell us about him.
Forgive my brevity
The soldiers singing. These are humans possibly Fereldens on their way to Ostagar. Fighting men not trained singers yet Solas tells us they sing better than any chantry choir ever could... He seems to admire their bravery, their skill at working together, their commitment to their cause.
The dead dwarves. Again the theme of bravery and sacrifice, they knew they would die but they all gave their lives defending a small child to the last. Adds the theme of compassion and defending the weak to the above.
The rebel qunari mixing a pinch of sugar in the loaves she is baking. One imagines she is some kind of servant. Solas admires her desire for individualism, to be herself within a system which imposes absolute conformity to the rules. This is the basis of many of his arguments with IB.
The empty house. This is thought to be Flemeth's cottage which remains unscathed, Solas marvels at this but we don't quite know what he is telling us here, respect for the past? How fear limits our normal impulses? The importance of respecting the gods?
Hopefully the basis of discussion. I might post something later on Solas' convos about different spirits. If I've missed any out, please tell me.
This is the thing I love about this thread...people pointing out subtlties that I would otherwise miss. I did not realize that the dwarves where protecting a child.
I'd like to discuss this whole post a bit, but I am on my phone and posting is really hard.

Whenever the size contests came up amongst male acquaintances, I usually got bored and told them if they really wanted to have a contest, we should all just compare them outright rather than dancing around the bush. Then I suggested olive oil and a hotel room as a way of soothing bruised egos.
They stopped. ![]()
And yes, it's past.

What an interesting turn for the Solas thread. *snickers* Now it's only inevitable that someone asks how well endowed the Dread Wolf is...
And this time, NO ONE can blame any of this on the Colonel ![]()

I gladly take the blame. Also, I'm wondering, is he also skilled with his tongue? If all that kissing is a foretaste, then... YUMMY.

That's a typical German man on a mission to prove his manliness by donning strange garments that invite ridicule. If he gets into fights and beats people over it, he's manly. If he ignores them in dignified silence, he is made a British man.
