I much prefer Gaspard to Michel.  Which is odd, because Gaspard is far, far worse than Michel when it comes to his racist views.  But he's an honourable man.  I disagree with him politically but I like him.  My Lavellan would still happily let him die to reunite Celene and Bria, though.

 

I suppose this is why I love The Masked Empire so much.  I went into it thinking I'd love Celene and hate Gaspard but everything about those characters is so much more complicated than 'this one is good, this one is bad'

 

That's probably why I love TME a lot as well. I didn't expect that TME would make me dislike Celene even more. What shocked me was that I actually ended up liking Gaspard (even though he is a bastard). Michel was kind of a surprise as well. When I first played DAI, I was okay with Michel but then having read TME and how he's actually like, it made me hate him. 

 

So, wait, I have to ask -- Gaspard has to die in order to reunite Celene and Briala?

Finished Inquisition two nights ago and I just can't let that character go. Didn't even romance him and yet... it hurts!

This is also the first game and Character that has had me reading fan fic. Why does reading it feel like reading an ever so naughty book though?
Keep thinking people are looking at me funny...

He has had a similar effect on me. I was never really into fan fiction before this, but now, Idk... Some of it is decent, actually.

I WAS SAVING MY LAVELLAN'S VIRGNITY FOR HIM. Like, she was totally going to give it up to him in the wyvern grove with all the corpses and human remains around! And that's not weird. It just made the veil thin! And our skin tingle! Who cares if they were the decomposing bodies of Crestwood's inhabitants! Decomposition can't get in the way of true love!

I have to avoid romancing anyone else or else I won't be the virginal white halla he needs me to be. I can't be tainted or else I'm worthless! Unlovable! Unworthy of Fen'Harel's attention! I have to snub all other possible LI's or else he'll never come back and take me to the sacrificial table of fornication. Where we'll make sweet love before he kills me so we can restore elvhen glory!

Yes.  The only way to keep all three alive is to find the three pieces of blackmail and force them to work together.  But that means that Bira's network is used for Orlais rather than the elves and al three of them hate each other and the Inquisition.  I think if you ask for mercy for Gaspard then both he and Bria get exiled.

 

It does feel weird to reunite Celene and Bria after everything Celene did to her, but it's pretty obvious they still love each other and getting them back together at the ball means that Bria is finally going into the relationship knowing what Celene did.  The fact that she's willing to forgive her is sweet, in an odd sort of way.

 

And Gaspard... Gaspard is honest about being a bastard and I suppose that's why I like him.

Okay then...

 

The next big quest I have to do now is Wicked Eyes and Wicked Hearts but I'm putting it off because I haven't decided who I want to rule Orlais,  having read TME now. I let Celene rule alone on my very first Lavellan PT and let all 3 work together on my Trev PT. As much as I'd love to have Celene assassinated, and possibly let Briala rule through Gaspard, that doesn't seem to fit with my Lavellan.

 

Oh well, I'll figure it out when I reach that point in the game.
