That is honestly the dumbest thing I have heard in a long time. I mean, really? If marketing feels that withholding the last two love interests is what will add mystery, what are they implying about the game as a whole? Is the story that bad? The dialogue that lukewarm? They need to hold us in suspense about the last two characters we can romance, of all things?
And no, I don't believe the story or writing is bad. It just seems laughable that the "mystery" focus would be on a couple of characters and not something like the villain or a plot point - which I will note most people are fine with not knowing until they play. Plenty of ways to hype "mystery" that would leave fans feeling excited and not just frustrated.
Yeah, this. The game is very much still a mystery and if they wanted to guard the mystery of the game then maybe they shouldn't have the story portion of the demos not keep the last two LI a secret. It's like they think that any player interested in the romances will go after any/all of them and not that people pick favourites. *smgdh* Everytime I start to have faith in their marketing dep't I'm left frustrated and disappointed again. *irritable sigh*

), because there seems to be NO rhyme or reason behind this 'mystery' strategy but it's killing me not being able to have fun planning my first playthrough (well, not PLAN, but you guys know what I mean, lol).
Again, it comes back to this: why punish the small handful of fans who are waiting for the last LI reveal when everyone else gets to celebrate and move on? The Solas/Varric/BW/Viv fans are stuck in groundhog day while the rest of the forum gets to actually look forward to playing the damn game, and that's the main issue -- it's not fun anymore, it's taking our attention from the game itself, and making people irritable and argumentative to boot. It makes zero sense on a marketing level, and seems like a cast iron way of killing people's enthusiasm.
Sorry again guys. I'm really annoyed about this, more so than I should be over a game But, ugh...I'm not even holding my breath for Gamescon after this last nugget of wisdom from the marketing guys 
EDIT: I've just been having a cruise through the Blackwall thread and Sheryl Chee has basically said that they (and presumably everyone) will have to come to terms with not finding out the last LIs till launch:

But really, this info at least lets me know that I should probably leave the forums for a while. I don't want enormous story spoilers and it seems we won't get the announcement I care about any time soon, if ever. I'll probably come back to see what Gamescom is all about but otherwise, there doesn't really seem to be much point to sticking around and waiting.

Yeah, this. I've gone back to plotting an elven mage Cullenmance...which is really fitting, since in this scenario my elven AW from Origins was "the one that got away." Kind of nice to bring it back around that way. And I feel like he should be with a mage, because reasons. If Solas is a LI, he'll be with my stabby rogue human, but I've kind of back burnered thinking about it. Since we really have nothing to go on. *sigh*

I knew I was going to be unlucky...i love bot Varric and Solas as LI...and of course they are the ones we would not know about if not until the very end...
and here I was just whaiting for the release of the LI to get my preorder from gamestop (and I HATE gamestop with a passion, but seems like EA doesn't want Amazon Italia to have the deluxe edition ).
well, now I don't have anymore doubts, and I will whait for after the release date to buy the game.

While it is frustrating not to know for certain and my main issue is the...not fairness but...segregation that the decision to not reveal the last two LI seems to create. It feels like it is creating a case of have and have nots with those who are waiting to find out where they fit. That isn't fun for anyone. The world outside BSN is just going to shrug either way so I am not certain that this mystery is really all that vital from a marketing point of view, but then again, I am not an expert and I have a vested interest in finding out.
I don't want to know details or even who is race gated, just who is available. In part for planning but also in part so I can get over the disappointment and focus on the important part of the game. And I really don't want story spoilers while looking for that information when the game is released. Just a simple yes or no.
But knowing they aren't going to tell us is something. It means I can stop looking for it each day. I already know that I am going to love Solas in game as a character and LI or not, he is my go to mage.

Guys, we don't know why they're keeping them a mystery, there could be a multitude of reasons that they can't tell us. The forums are on edge lately, I get it. I still think they should get it out of the way as soon as possible so that the disappointed fans of the non-romanceable characters aren't bitter at the games release, but as I said earlier, we're a niche group so I understand if they don't.
I've just read through everything and... I really feel just like everone is feeling. If they left ALL of the romances unknown, yes that would be a mystery. Leaving just two of them with four possible characters and their fanbases left hanging is .. Well kind of stupid? I don't want to say they don't know what they are doing, it is their job. But still not a good idea, seems obviously bad with all the negative comments about it. I guess it will be good to go on vacation on wednesday

Yeah, I could get back to FFXIV and the friends that I've deserted... I've been so preoccupied with DA:I and haven't really been able to concentrate on anything else, at my age I should know better. But at my age I should also remember that time moves soooo much quicker!

And then my excitement and hopes were crushed by that one sentence that Sheryl said, I just can't find any words.. I want to say how unfair it is and how they're shooting themselves in the foot doing this, but the only thing I'm going to say is that I'm not mad, I'm just disappointed. *lets out a long-suffering sigh* I think I'm going to eat some icecream now..
