I think strong group dynamics have already established within the thread; people who post regularly and talk at the chats have created bonds and inner jokes around a kind of humour they share (and I do too, as well) People outside that dynamics may feel they are no longer welcome and they cannot address any issues outside the ones being talked about by the usual posters. Of course I think everyone is entitled to their opinions and preferences; but if you approach such group dynamics in a confrontational way, chances are that you will end up being confronted by the whole group.

I believe this is a thread where everyone can voice their opinions even if they differ from others; I myself have had lenghty and respectful discussions with people that don't have the same opinions as I do. I would never have felt comfortable posting otherwise, as I have my fair share of intolerance in real life and I avoid it like the plague on the internet, where I go for leisure and fun, not drama. If someone at any time wishes to express discomfort over other people's posts, it's better to do so in an open manner. If you write while assuming that you will find opposition and lack of understanding, that's probably what you'll get.

That being said, I think that reporting satirical art is completely over the top. There's no harm in sending a PM to the person and explain your concerns, anyway it's much better than running to the moderators.

Just wanted to be constructive, this is all I will say about the matter. And now, I join the dancing party:

So, if when the DLC in which we confront Solas comes upon us, how is your Lavellan going to react to seeing him, again? How would she feel if he wanted to rekindle the romance?

I plan on having two separate playthroughs. I predict my Penelo Lavellan will be the type to forgive and accept because "Twue Wuv."

Then, I have another future elven character all planned out. She is going to be loyally Dalish and eff those who hate on it! She will basically give him the finger then break into song. Probably this.

I suppose that depends on when we see him, under what circumstances, and what has passed during the time between. If Solas is MIA for months and months without a whisper of a word--written, fade-sent or otherwise--my Tala Lavellan will be pretty pissed off, though also relieved, when she sees him alive and well (hopefully) again. If this occurs in conjunction with Tala discovering who he truly is on her own or through Leliana's spies prior to this meeting, she will be very cautious, suspicious and even more angry, though greatly conflicted and still relieved that he is alright. She would be willing to hear him out, and how she reacts from there would depend entirely on what he says and how he behaves towards her.

Regardless of what she does or does not know of him/his role in all of the stuff, she cares for him greatly, and that won't simply go away without closure, which she has been unable to get due to his disappearance. If she doesn't hear from him in any form, and a tonne of time passes, she'll be worried for him, and more than slightly annoyed. "WHERE IS THAT EXPLANATION YOU PROMISED, HM?! YOU ****. *throws knives at rotunda walls*"

But I imagine ultimately, irrespective of whether or not she knows who he really is, she would be inclined to forgive all his stupid behaviour and silent disappearance, if he explains himself in full, and doesn't pull any of that **** with her again (assuming he wants to rekindle their relationship). Like, total 100% full honesty. Otherwise, she'd write him off as untrustworthy and take some time to get over the emotional hurt. Maybe bang a few Dalish boys and cry about it later. Run a marathon. Climb a big tree. *shrug*

I could go on, but I feel like this isn't making a lot of sense. I have feelings about this. My Lavellan has feelings. We have feelings. Feeeelings.

Edit: snipped quote for relevance.

It's totally worth going to their tumblr and giving the full version a look.  ^_^

OMG, the freckles.  So much of the Solas fanart omits them, and I think they're just darling.

So in the interest of proving that I'm not unlurking just to comment on the drama-fest, I posted shifty-eyed Solas because now that I'm on my second Lavellan play through, I have begun to realize how much screen time Solas spends looking at the PC out of the corner of his eye. Like he's constantly weighing and analyzing everything you do, but trying to pretend he's not. I see what you're doing, shifty-eyed elf-God!

I know his expressions are the same regardless of PC, but I headcanon that for Lavellan, he's intensely checking out dat elf booty.  And for my Adaar, he's thinking, "Why the f*** is this joker in charge of saving our sorry butts?!"

Ok seriously though this reminds me of something I've been racking my brain over lately...is there a single scene in the whole game where both Cullen and Solas are present? Because I cant even for the life of me picture them standing next to each other even and it seems weird...

How she'll react.  Confused I guess.  She's kind of at peace with the breakup - depending on timeline.  Like I've said before, my Lavellan is pretty centered.  I think she would want to make sure he's ok and she would definitely want to help him.  He's still really important to her.

If they could get back togther - if Abelas is a LI in the DLC. Nope.  (i know that is sooo very very very very unlikely).  Without my Abelas fantasy - umm...I would need the DLC to show SOME sort of healing.  I'm really not a fan of them getting back together without them having an actual discussion.   It'd be so unhealthy to me and I can't abide by that...at least for my Lavellan.  There was so much **** unsaid and depending if he's fucked up again and then nothing is said and you just press...get back together button...yikes.  I think both parties need to talk a lot out, not screaming or anything.  Just talking and laying everything out on the table.  And you can actually forgive him and move forward.  And he can find relief in that you know everything and that you understand what he truly is.  You can decided to rekindle the relationship or say, "I'm sorry, this just isn't going to work".

So all of this ^^^

The singing after Haven.  They're in the same scene but not side-by-side.

TBH I miss how DA2 had the companions turn up in each others' homes and interact via cutscene so much.  The DA:I companions don't feel nearly as familial, which I guess fits the tone of the Inquisition, but I miss my horribly dysfunctional adoptive family.

So I just came back from school, grabbed some lunchables, and ready to reply:

Your commentary isn't the issue! No worries there.

The issue is whomever felt it was necessary to report Carrieli and me over our art posts and have them deleted by a moderator. That's the censorship. That's what's wrong.

What are they? Anti-Charlie?

What's that effect where if you censor something, it has the opposite effect which makes it more noticeable?

Yeah, the ones from last night. :/

Hm. There's one really weird thing though. Not a single piece of Carrie or Liz's art is directed at a person. Rabbitonfire did a picture of Cole in a bikini and nobody reported it. There was also a pic of Samson in a bikini with a Cullen waifu pillow and no protest. So why is it that the censor bat comes for the art poking fun at Solas?
IMHO, it's not about context. It's just straight up "protecting" your pixel husbando.

http://forum.bioware...v30/?p=18677807

Hey guys, the Cullen Thread was A-OK with all this art. No ban hammers, no nerf bats, no reporting.

Yep, definitely someone targeting husbando. I've always been kind of weirded out by people calling a fictional character their boyfriend or husband, I mean.. it's not consensual!

Me too. That's one of the things I actually really appreciated about DA2. I liked that they were friends with each other outside of when Hawke was around to group them all together.

The Streisand Effect - she wanted to block pics of her beach house on a scientific study that like 20 people had seen. After she cried about it, the pics were downloaded thousands of times.

Ha! My husband calls Solas my "elfy boyfriend." But he has a weird sense of humor and talks that way about... pretty much everyone I can relate to. My best friend is my girlfriend, my OTHER best friend is my wife... he used to call my OLD BOSS my "work boyfriend" before he quit...

I was originally thinking about it because I am somehow stumped at what the dynamic would be between Solas and Cullen. Like just awkward single word acknowledgements? It's stumping me big time for some reason...

Damn! Stupid real life keeps me away from all the fun here. But I just have to catch up this time.

I can't wait to be at this moment in DA where everybody will realize there's no god, and what they thought were gods were just flawed beings nowhere near deserving the status of gods. I might grin a bit too wide if that happens. I need something to shake the core of them believers,

Man, for somebody who has not even played the previous DA games you have a pretty harsh opinion.

I am no religious person but you do take it quite far with your general aversion, no? How can you bear so much hatred for it after such a short time?

But I am going to guess Drake is probably right. Not everyone is in on the joke, so instead they are left to fill in the blanks as far as what is going on. This thread is seen by a ton of people, not all of whom post. From someone just casually chilling around, they may not see the joke. Instead they just see someone who might be making fun of them. And then outraage.

But Liz did nothing bad. I was not on that chat and I still can see how it is only fun. Why can't people just accept it even if they don't like it? Everything must always be packed in wadding. Are we really so fragile here? Some fine stereotypical sissies we are. <_<

Most of my educational background is in psychology, so I apologize if/when I get too preachy. You have my permission at any time to say something to the effect of "shut up, Elfy, no one likes a psychologist."

Edit: also, I did apologize ( and I apologize again) for what I said earlier this week. What Colonel said made me realize that it had been an inappropriate comment despite that I meant it as purely informational to someone who had asked.

Eh, that's true, nobody likes a psychologist. Best you just hide it, works well, believe me.

Seriously though, why do I not get the impression that you are being honest now? All the apologies... Why so scared to state openly what you like and don't like? Why not willing to ruffle a few feathers and make a few enemies but remain true to yourself? Having studied psychology does not define how you see a piece of art or anything. I have that education, too, and I take no offense in Liz's art or see any reason to hide it. I'm not into Abelas, I can still appreciate the fresh air she brings to this thread. I really like Cullen and that one pic I saw with him in it, that should probably offend me. But it does not. This is not about psychology or anything. It is about an approach to life and how serious one takes stuff.

Stop hiding your opinion behind petty words and just be yourself. If you don't like something, fine. Nobody will tell you off. As it is, half of the people here would probably agree with you. Is that really so horrible? Do we all really need to be of the same opinion all the time? How dull would life be. There are a few people here who I happen to disagree with often. Still, I respect them, secretly like a few of them. Life is not so black and white. And I really don't know what psychological theory you meant to apply here.

To whomever it applies:

Liz is a strong person, she won't be heart-broken over a few critical comments. But what she surely does not need is a smiling face with a dagger hidden behind the back. Tell her if you don't like something, she can take it. She's no fool and does not need patting. As it is, maybe she can even understand and find middle ground. But going around, hiding the criticism to not be disliked/get into trouble, and then reporting her.... damn, that's gutless. We are all civilized here and I want to believe that every person on this thread is better than that. Everybody should be allowed to state his opinion and be accepted doing so. Both sides.

Prolly super awkward.  Solas would probably intensely stare him down...like he does everybody.  Cullen would blush and rub his neck awarkedly because...Cullen(dude do you need a heating pad or something???).  They don't seem like they would have much to say to eachother -- I mean other than polite hellos.

It's a bioware game :P

Jokes aside, I wouldn't be surprised if he was, not because of any stereotypes or blah blah but because they're supposedly a lot more "Greek" than the other cultures, so to speak. I don't think he is, I don't honestly care, lol.
