And hey so what is the deal with fanart? Is it uncouth to just drop your own? Is the porny stuff generally unwelcome? >_>

 

It's fine to drop your own.  NSFW should be behind spoiler tags.  Really NSFW stuff should be linked to rather than posted (I think that's part of the site rules, actually).  You should also provide a source for artwork that isn't yours.

Thinking about it...

 

The only time Cullen even mentions Solas is if you flirt with him during the chess match (which I picked because it seemed like a friendly flirt rather than a flirty flirt) where you can hint about wanting to spend more time with Cullen.  If you're romancing Solas he'll say something about how Inky maybe would prefer to spend more time with Solas.

I was wondering the other day if anything similar happens the other way around, as in Solas asks you if you don't prefer Cullen?
But I guess not, right..? (I only ever flirt with my LI so I have no idea).

 

My Lavellan is still doing her job, it's just nights that are hard for her. We have to wait for DLC to see how much time has passed, if she had the time to move from sadness to being really pissed off. 

 

 

Oh boy.. Now I just imagined, what happens if at the start of the DLC it went like "2 years had passed bla bla...". That is a very long time.
Anything more than a few months would be too long for my poor Lavellan's crushed heart! D:

We have too many artists. We want to invest like half the budget in garrish character design.

 

But I really do hope Bioware goes a bit over the top with them. Solas has his hobo charm. It stands to reason that for contrast, you'd want the rest of the pantheon to be the exact opposite.

I'm a bit boring when it comes between my image of the elvhen pantheon.

I always imagine them like a cross between lotr,atlantis and a movie of Hayao Miyazaki.

SOLAS THREAD RULES AND REGULATIONS

2. Participant agrees to love Solas unconditionally, above all others, except in the cases detailed below:

   1. Participant may simply “like” Solas.

   2. Participant may simply find Solas interesting.

   3. Participant may not like Solas at all, but be willing to discuss Solas in a mature, reasonable fashion.

3. The Solas thread is a shared learning environment. Everyone is expected to contribute. Lurkers are permitted, as long as they only lurk for a specified amount of time before introducing themselves. Introduced lurkers are permitted a minimum of two posts per week.

4. Participants in the Solas thread are required to practice patience. If someone has not liked or quoted your post within 48 hours you are permitted to bring it back up once to try again. You can not fish for likes multiple times in one day.

16. Participants must understand that just because they have an opinion does not make it the most important opinion being discussed. No one person in this thread has a better opinion on a debatable subject than anyone else.

17. Participants are required to read and memorize the thread cycle chart, along with the request off policy.

18. Participants are asked to try to have a lot of fun discussing Solas, looking at the pretty art, having really awesome theoretical conversations, and enjoying everyone's varied personalities.

Work had gotten in the way of my rule list, but never fret, I am off at five (in six minutes) where then I will be free to do whatever the hell I want.

There shall be no misunderstandings in the future after I'm done with the thread. Heh.

The biggest problem with reporting for any reason other than harassment/homophobia/personal attacks/racism /other more important things is NOW the thread is going to be on their radar. And the mods might take it upon themselves to get rid of whatever else they want to. Art, fanfics, comments. Whatever. Now we are being watched.

 

I am sure this isn't the relevant conversation but I am catching up a bit on the thread. 

 

Anytime I have stuck my nose into disagreements, in my silly attempt to be a voice of reason (Mims does it so much better) it's because I was terrified that we'd end up being watched.  I have no desire to censor anyone.  I have always only cared that everyone feels welcome, and no one feels uncomfortable.  Which is such a futile undertaking because it's impossible.  We all hail from different countries.  Have vastly differing sexualities.  Some people are just here for the theories.  Others didn't romance Solas at all but just like to hang out. 

 

I can't speak for anyone else, but I assume sometimes when people make calls for toning it down or to be more on topic, it's to keep the thread open.  We all love this thread and the people participating in it.  We don't know if it was just  a Mod popping in and saw it, or someone reported it.  I have no proof of anything.  But I see it far more likely someone reported, and I have no idea what their motivations were.  And as Ave said now we're on their radar.

 

Here's the thing:  Sometimes when someone says "hey that's really NSFW" they're not attacking you personally, or making a judgement.  As far as I understand the forum rules, no embedding NSFW pictures/art, link to it.  They're not censoring you, they aren't being a prude.  It can get the thread shut down.  I personally am not bothered by NSFW, but I don't want someone reporting it and having the Mods watching the thread.  And in squabbles in the past, that's all anyone cared about.  (I'm not going to get into things that make folks uncomfortable because that's a can of worms I don't want to deal with right now when we're all already upset and on edge.  Rather keep it to the forum rules.)

I haven't been in this thread as long as some others.  I started lurking before the game was released, and started posting after Solas broke my heart.  We've had a revolving door when it comes to who is active in here.  We're a lot more ehh relaxed? about things than it used to be.  And I am ok with that, I am not saying I want the thread to change.  The culture has shifted, and I adapted along with it.  I enjoy the people we have here now, and I enjoyed the people that are now missing. 

Just please guys be more careful.  If you don't care for the content of a particular poster's posts, either put them on ignore or scroll past it.  If you feel like someone has said something that feels like an attack, or you're genuinely upset/offended, send them a PM, hash it out there.  If you're sharing art (your own or someone else's) and you're concerned it's not entirely appropriate or you're worried it could get you into trouble, link to it instead of embedding it.  Please I am not telling anyone what to do, just sharing some advice for the good of the thread and all of us that love it.  Don't report.  PM the person first.  Please guys.

Well, the "ax-crazy" Andruil isn't from the Dalish stories, but the new info.  But yeah, I'm hesitant to see them simply as villains, because DA deals in a lot of gray area.  The possibilities really take the imagination.    (I'm an 80s kid, so I admit to having more love of glitter than is probably healthy.)  But considering the servants and priests apparently dressed as fancy and flashy as Abelas and the Sentinels, it does make you wonder how the noble classes and higher presented themselves.

Exactly. Solas is kind of the anti-pantheon god, right? It only stands that his physical appearance would contrast the others. Plus, if you look at various royalty throughout the ages--or rather, the people in positions of great power, with loads of money and leisure time--they're typically decked out in ridiculous, affluence-bragging ****. I feel it would be no different for the pantheon, even if there's not mega-glitter everywhere.

This is sensible, but my brain is choosing to ignore it in favour of fabulous gaudiness. I don't know, I can't help it now. Speaking of movie comparisons, an image of the Elven Pantheon dressed like the people from the Capitol in The Hunger Games just popped into my head. Huh.

 

WHO IS THE WONDROUS SOUL that first suggested glittery elven gods, anyway? I don't know when/where this started, but now that it's in my head, it's there forever. Like glitter.
