Hey, I have a Solas romance question. I've romanced him before (in fact, he was my romance on my first DA: I playthrough), but I want to approach it differently this time. Does my Inquisitor have to flirt with him before the Fade scene for her to be able to kiss him? I want the Fade scene to be the first time she uses the heart icon.
TBH one my main goals in life is to draw really cute porn that gives people really confused feelings. I'm just delightful that way.
I support that aim... It is... honorable.
I am sorry to interrupt your dicussion, but i have some questions about the Dread Wolf. First of all i have yet to play female elf in this game, but it is my next playthrough. I have gathered from discussions around on the forum and youtube etc that the romance with Solas is very well written and emotional. I don't know anything about it except that it ends badly. So what makes this romance worth it? Is there alot of exclusive dialogue between them because of the elf thing? Is there more if you are a mage?. Is the romance filled with awe moments? Is it a cliche?. I am very curious about it, but i don't want anything spoiled, just wnat to know why you think it is worth pursuing.
It's very intense.
It's a bit thin when it comes to content but each bit of content is so well done (writing, animation and acting) that is amazing.

With Solas, I would recommend picking all the flirts. I think you MAY be able to skip one - but I've heard if you don't flirt enough it doesn't pop up.
Apart form that... I must now excuse myself and say goodbye to you all because I fear, I won't be able to follow them.
Don't you dare. Don't make me Rick Roll you in Middle English again. I will.

I can confirm that isn't the case. My first Lavellan was not intended to be a Solasmance so I hadn't flirted with him, just with Josie and Sera, but I still got the option to kiss him in the Fade.

I wanted to roleplay her as being angry and not so flirty. Oh well, thanks for answering my question ![]()

It is worth it. I'm afraid I can not elaborate without spoiling.

It's pretty intense. It's the most meaningful to the game in terms of lore. I'm not a fan of comparing them to the others - they all serve their purpose for different audiences.
Very well written. Pretty emotional. Both VA's do an excellent job conveying the affection in the relationship...especially GDL. I would definitely recommend a run-through as a female for all people playing this game. As far as class, there is probably a bit extra depth to the whole first/keeper thing but that's deep roleplaying. It's literally never brought up outside of a flirt and every class has one. I played a rogue because they are fun and I think it was just as impactful.

I've seen other people say they picked only one flirt and did not get the option to kiss him in the Fade. So maybe also a certain approval is required? I'm not sure, like someone else said, I usually only flirt with the person I intend to have as an LI.

Ooooh, ok then. That's good to know. Good to know indeed...
Looks sound for the most part, but I find the whole 'avoid taking anything too offensively' or 'too personally' thing a bit unnecessary. No one's in control of the degree of offense they experience from rude or insensitive remarks, intentionally offensive/personal or no. As long as they deal with it in a civil manner, I don't see how being 'too offended' is a problem. It falls under the 'being civil' category, right?
...I think I'm just going to be nice and see how that goes. *cough* EXCEPT TO KILLABEE OF COURSE *cough*

Don't worry, you're fine! The option should still come up.
If you all insist...
More will come.
I do have a new found obsession with Falon'Din....and all his glory. his Elven Glory. ~hhhhnnnnnnnnnn~
Same but with Dirth.
Dirthamen is bae.
*Jerry Seinfeld voice* So what is the deal with Solas? No Soul and no ass?
That is one of the main reasons I expect ridiculous outfits. That and Solas talking about how vanity was a major motivator for some of the gods. Tevinter is also a bit over the top. I would love if Arlathan made them look tame by comparison.
So far almost every elf that has reason to remember the old ways [Solas, Abelas, Felassan], does so with a hook. Arlathan was great and amazing...buuut also kind of a shitty place as far as the people went.
Is it wrong that part of the reason I want a DA game set in Tevinter is for the outfits? I want to play as a DA hero who is rocking the most OTT Tevinter garb they can find. Something that flows behind them when they come striding into a room. And all in black. Just bring me the smexy black attire.
Y'know, for someone as powerful as the Inquisitor, they sure don't dress it. Needs more swishing cape and spikey bits.
I think I may have just birthed a new obsession here. I had no idea I cared so much about clothing.
I so want Arlathan to be insane levels of outfit as well. All the colours and jewels and... yeah, I seem to just be flat out picturing this now..

I'm not sure "badly" is the right term so much as "painfully." On both sides. Possibly that is what makes it worth it - the sheer emotion in the content we got is amazing. Not just in the writing, but the voice acting, animations, and the intensity of the scenes. There's not necessarily exclusive content for an elf romancing Solas beyond the fact you're the only one who can, but it does end up feeling like the story has that much more impact for an elf. No difference for classes though, beyond a slightly different flirt line based on what you're playing. And they're all awesome. ![]()
And then of course there will be DLC and who knows where that will take us. Hopefully somewhere good.

I mean I can only speak for myself but I love angst and pain and drama in my love stories so....

Most of us here love the romance because it goes extremely well with the overall narrative of the game. I think saying that it ends badly isn't quite accurate. It ends badly if all you are looking for is a simple, fluffy romance. [And there's nothing wrong with that!]
There's a lot of emotions going on. Personally I would say that it isn't so much that it 'ends', as it is 'incomplete'. We're left with a lot of questions. Most of us hope that some of these questions, including the state of Lavellan and Solas's relationship, will be answered in DLC.
I usually tell this to people who are trying to decide whether or not to romance Solas:
- If you like romances with strong narrative ties, don't mind some tears, and enjoy intellectual men, then check it out!
- If you dislike any of the above and want a clearcut happy ending, don't romance Solas until the DLC cycle for DA:I is complete.
...ahem..
You guys do know the rules thing is a joke, right?
How in the world would that ever be enforced? Who would listen to any of my rules anyway? Half of these rules make no sense!
...I just broke the 'take things too seriously' one, didn't I. lol
Seriously though, a list of rules like this one is a good idea. We need it, un-civil savages that we are XD

Well this forum already has like a thousand rules. Not sure how well they are enforced though lol
