That's what I was thinking. Which sucks for the Varricmancers. DG says here that romances are considered after the character concepts are finalized. In this case, this would have been before race-selection was added back into the game. Unless Varric is suddenly not race-gated, of he was lying about not finding humans attractive in DA2, I think his chances are low.

It sucks, because my personal ideal outcome is Varric/Solas. I might romance Varric myself sometime, but mostly for all the Varricmancers. I think that it's, just as he said in an earlier answer, that not many people play as dwarves. So Varric being romanceable would give people incentive, but idk. It seems as if they're considering it for a later game and not for Inquisition.

 

At the same time, I don't see Vivienne as romanceable...nor Blackwall? It's tough to determine. So whoever the last two are, they WILL be a surprise when they come out as it seems it could be anyone at this point. I'd say Solas has a slightly bigger chance but I'm pretty sure that's my bias.

No worries! I didn't read it as grumpy. I understand that people are getting anxious about the last two LIs and getting more information in general and I was just hoping to temper expectations a little bit. Sometimes it seems that the lingering hope that you'll hear something soon ("Today? Maybe tomorrow? Oh god, I don't want to go to bed!") is what makes the wait especially painful. I figure, well, if you think it's not coming and allow your mind to move on to other things, and then something does get revealed, it'll be a happy surprise!

Apparently I was right about Sheryl's intention, but not the validity. lol

 

So, basically, don't expect this info ANY time soon and maybe not even until release, but there is at least a higher probability of getting it pre-release.

I'm..really disappointed to hear how the marketing team is handling this. There are SOOOO many things that are a mystery so far for the game, so I don't understand why the romances have to be one of them? How hard is it to just say two names and drop it after that? I don't understand. Maybe it's because the options are uneven or something that will cause controversy and they don't want to make people upset? (which will obviously make MORE people mad when they find it in-game instead of having time to get over it beforehand) Baseless speculation of course, but the longer they hold out the more it makes me feel it's going to be something like this. :/

 

So many of the characters we know next to NOTHING about. That's mystery, and that's completely understandable that they want to keep those details under wraps. But to go and release 6 out of 8 romances and then be like "Nope! Mysteryyyyy" just really grinds my gears something fierce. Really sucks being a Blackwall/Solas/Varric/Vivienne fan hoping for romance, that's for sure. Add that to the extra 5 weeks or so delay and it's just...ughhh. (I have nothing but love for the development team mind you, it's the marketing decisions that are making me go ?????)

 

Guess it's time to go through my backlog of games in the upcoming months.  I think I'll continue my new hard mode Fire Emblem: Awakening file today..

I want Solas badly as well, it's hard. *hugs to all* I do find it a bit unfair that they release all the others, but not the rest. These LIs must be very close to the plot. Mr. Lloyd said "he's an elf but it's more complicated than that." So...we shall see. I'm hoping for the best for y'all. You're a bunch of sweet people.

Just gotta say, there are voices I find annoying, voices I find boring, and voices I find pleasant. But there are very, very few voices that seriously cause me to want to MAKE LOVE just to THE VOICE ITSELF in a non-corporeal form.

 

Before, this category basically only consisted of Alan Rickman.

 

But I gotta say, listening to this... um, Mr. Rickman just got himself some company.
