As superstitious as the Dalish can be, they may find it extremely hard to accept the tattoos just vanishing, along with this mysterious mark on the Inquisitor's hand. That, coupled with being known as the Herald of Andraste, could indicate to the Dalish that you've forsaken your gods and your clan. 

 

On the other hand, by the time DAI is over Lavellan has seen, done, been, and met far more than anyone else could ever think to imagine. She's found lost elven ruins, learned new truths, spoken with literal ancient elves, and potentially wields an elf god's power source in her hand. If frigging Mythal tells you that you do the People proud, there's no clan or Keeper that can say you were forsaken by the gods.

My (so far) one and only warning was for starring out part of a curse word in a post. Apparently that is against the rules, to try and avoid the profanity filter. I've done it before then, done it since, and see it happen in many other posts. No rhyme or reason that I can tell, so I guess it's a case of "whatever."

dislike~ I'm still studying RamseyCassKoopman Growth Models (economists aren't very creative when it comes to naming things) and this thread is the only thing keeping me awake and your scintillating presence is the highlight of the entire thread

They are less than communicative in the extreme. I posted a question asking a mod for help in the HELP forum with a somewhat simple technical issue and never once responded.

When there was all the hacking and rude private anon messages being sent (in the Cullen thread) we also couldn't get a response from a mod (and when we did the answer was to delete it all, no explanation) so we bypassed them and went to Allan and Fernando, who are both very nice and we're helpful, but ultimately it shouldn't have fallen to them.

I also think the mods form personal opinions and forget to mod from a uninvolved party. I know I felt targeted on purpose.

People are still fighting? I thought everything seemed pretty cheery today. Maybe that's because of the number of times the people in this thread have made me laugh today. Comedy gold, I tell you!

Up to the player. Not factual content in every game. Maybe she thinks there are no real gods in her DA world but don't project that onto my game.

And there's no need for debate because neither one of us are wrong. It doesnt matter what you say about your own game, it doesn't make it true in my game.

 

That vision is one I can agree with, I guess the player decides, in a way. Though the game is still written in a certain way, I guess they stay vague to satisfy everybody's way of seeing whatever they want it to be.

 

You're familiar with the absence of evidence not being the evidence of absence, yes? There's enough clues in the magical world for someone to draw the conclusion of there being a god or gods at one point. You have a world beyond this one, with spirits that can literally manipulate and create things around them, and a god is somehow hard to believe?

 

The term god is subjective. To a lot of people, what fen'harel was at full power was a god. What Cornflakes was already was practically a god by elven standards.

 

Telling someone there's no god in this setting is rather narrow minded in my opinion. It's one thing to say you don't think there's a maker and another altogether to say there's no god because we haven't seen the guy all shiny and in robes with Andraste on his arm yelling about how those dang kids stepped on his lawn and ruined his golden home.

 

I'm more than familiar with that, it's the basis of agnosticism. Yet, I find it more entertaining to debate on "is our world a godless one", since it's the only school of thought going against the whole current. The question is rendered moot anyway by the fact Bioware will never tell the truth on any of that, likely because they want to leave it up to interpretation.

And I agree the definition of god may vary from one person to another. I guess, like in the real world, I do not possess the physical and intellectual capacities to be anywhere close to an answer, and the possibilities that a creator is behind the Dragon Age world can exist, yet the possibilities of it all being random and luck, are out there as well.

I guess I should redefine my words to "I don't believe in a human/elf/qunari/dwarf/anything-created god". If that makes it better that way (in the hope you can understand that phrase to begin with, it's so poorly written but my English fails to give me the right synonyms at the moment).

 

That ain't me, sister. I don't think equal representation in media's important, the desire to make a good game is. Any decent story has a variety of people, and backgrounds. Not every one of them has to be represented however.

 

The Qun already has what you want anyway. And a culture being like how you want it isn't wrong. What I find amusing is how proving other culture's religious beliefs wrong brings you such joy.

 

You do realize that your whole "the need for equal representation in media is less important than the desire to make good content" is basically the shield-argument that every anti-diversity people use at some point or another? Doing both aren't mutually exclusive, and more often than not, diversity leads to better content (hence why we can all say we love Bioware, they do a lot of work towards that goal, and their universe are just more rich and interesting thanks to that).
Also, the Qun does not have what I want, even though I'm definitely interested in who they are and what they believe in. But I don't happen to believe in their totalitarian ways of handling people.

 

Also, people found joy in being complete jerks in this game. They found joy in killing some people, or destroying their lives. Yet, me finding thrill at the sight of seeing Thedas requestion everything they believe in, should be such a bad thing? Now that's what I find amusing. I'm not killing anyone, but I guess asking people to requestion things they believe in should be a much bigger crime. I guess Introspection is such a bad thing to hope for.
