I like 'em all But I do tend to favor the badasses personally, and Halinia falls into that category.

Joking aside, I really don't get this mentality of glee for finding that there is no god, if that were actually true... in a fictional setting. Fictional or not actually, it's kind of.... petty. Not even kind of, it's really petty and comes off very small of you. Everyone has their beliefs, no one knows diddly about even a few percentages of this universe, much less beyond that. I take no solace in proving anyone wrong, I just want to know period.

I'd like to know as well.

However, I do like proving specific sorts of people wrong. People like Petrice. Whatever the dogma, if you can prove that what they used as justification for their atrocities was empirically false, then there's a certain vindication in seeing all of their authority and dignity go up in flames. Only with the truly vile people, however. If, say, it was possible to empirically prove that the Flying Spaghetti Monster was made-up, I would feel bad for my friend that seems to worship him. Since, y'know, his biggest crime is along the lines of spamming threads with pictures of spaghetti.

But I don't blame anyone for feeling some petty satisfaction in the Maker being proven false. I'm guilty of the occasional cheer whenever Morrigan actually scored an intelligent point in her debates with Leliana back in Origins.  Beyond it resonating with non-religious people much the same way that a story of a god and a savior betrayed resonates with Christians, it's because Andrastian hard-liners have done their best to eradicate the elven religion and culture, invading the Dales, largely based off this zealous belief in their culture being 'correct' and the path to salvation. I don't hate the Chantry, but I'm certainly not fond of it. It's a political entity that has done a lot of good and a lot of bad. I would feel terrible for the majority of Andrastians, having something integral to their lives twisted.

Much like how Lavellan probably felt after the revelations about the gods. 

And being an atheist in one of the most Christian countries in the world, from a religious family, I empathize with the discomfort of a Lavellan being proclaimed as the Herald of Andraste, and the general culture clash.

But, being fascinated by all of the different religions, I also greatly enjoyed the greater insight into Andrastianism, which is why Inquisition has brought Thedas to life more than the other games for me.

I like how Dragon Age is in many ways an exploration of religion and faith in a fictional setting, and does it with more nuance and maturity than a lot of fiction.

 

As for the stuff earlier:

I would just like to say that I was not part of the Chat and I understood the pictures for the good-natured ribbing that they were, and I disagree with the censorship on multiple levels.

Actually, when a friend of mine first started calling my quizzy this, I thought it was the latter as well When she clarified it was the former, I rolled with it. I didn't really have a name for him anyway, so.

That's the sound my coffee-maker makes when it's done.    It's probably weird that that's a sound that evokes joy for me, isn't it?

On a similar note, when I mentioned to my SO that the first time Solasmancers hear the romance theme, it's when Solas breaks up with them, and that they turned to other romances to prevent hell-spiraling and you know the rest , she turned to face Edmonton and shook her fist at them in fury on your behalf. There was some cursing, but I can't repeat it, because I'm not entirely sure how Gaelic looks like when it's spelled out.

I was in a coffee shop today, and I looked over and saw Solas.  Well, not really, but the dude was a dead enough ringer that I asked his permission to take his photo to post on the Bioware forum and explained why. Turns out he'd played DA 1 and knew what I was talking about, but hadn't followed the franchise since and had no idea that he looked like one of the characters. He knows now, and I'm imagining his face when he first encounters his doppleganger in the game.
