Mine are, especially when unexpected. It's like a very soft tickle, but it's quick to get used to and feel nothing from it. x(
Well, I think I feel something for a very short period, but... The feeling isn't one I enjoy much. As if I had a slug on my ears trying to move. Blah.
I can, lol. And nibbling on elven ears from behind is hawt.
Yeah it is! Hence why I feel even sadder at not being able to enjoy it. My boyfriend is sensitive enough for the both of us, though.

It might not necessarily be a lie. Just because it doesn't outright mean "'Henry' is in fashion this year, yo," does not mean the inference wasn't taken from what Solas did say. My mother tongue works much the same way and is next to impossible to translate more than the general idea of what is said to people who ask. ![]()

I prefer to think that, even though the same words are used in actual dialogue, Solas often speaks an ancient dialect we would only be able to glean the slightest meaning from anyway. It would explain why some sources describe the Dalish as speaking only elvish among their own people, when canon would make that impossible since it is also described as a lost and fragmented language. Or it's an oversight, which would make me sad.

I had to think for a while about why Lavellan only understands some of the elven that Solas speaks, and I wound up settling on this explanation:
Maybe it's a bit like modern church Latin vs. actual Latin that would have been spoken by the Romans. Even if you could follow Catholic Latin mass and say the words, you wouldn't be able to really understand an ancient Roman. In the one conversation where they call each other "hahren" and "da'len," Solas corrects Lavellan's pronunciation of the word "abelas." She puts the stress on the second syllable (a-BE-las) and he stresses the third (a-be-LAS). Solas's pronunciation is also how the character Abelas says his own name.
So Lavellan knows enough of the language to pick out bits and pieces of what Solas says, but his version of elvish is different from the garbled fragments, and she can't *really* understand him most of the time.

All right, now that I've a moment. Before work this morning, I was inclined to re-watch portions from the Temple of Mythal sequence.
The idea was to pick up a certain character's mannerisms for possible fanfiction, but instead it got me thinking. These have probably been talked over before, but...
Remember when you enter the Temple proper and the ancient elves activate/fall back behind the dragon statues? Corypheus is caught by and briefly destroyed by this weapon or barrier. Of course he commandeers another blighted body and pops right back up, but I wonder whether this might be a significant weapon. Perhaps it would harm or destroy anyone not wanted in the Temple, but what if it were specifically to stop blighted life forms from entering?
Also, when Solas speaks to Abelas for the final time, the part where he totally does not tell him he hopes he finds a new name, we know what you said dude. Abelas nods in response, very slightly, just once. Abelas acknowledges him without another word. But I don't believe Abelas is the type, after all this time and pain, to accept a platitude. Anyway, I hadn't noticed the little nod before and I got excited, haha.
(edit: Solas basically tells Abelas: "Your story does not end here, it is within you," which Abelas acknowledges.)
If you notice in the temple of Mythal there are painting of elves on the walls that have red outlining their bodies. I wondered if perhaps those represented red lyrium elves or blighted elves. I think crazy Anndruil brought the damn stuff back from the void. Well.... Flemeth also says she knows what Corypheus is better than you know. I wonder if he has always been a pain in the rear.
Abelas, even in his short time in game, is a wonderful character. Whoever did his animation did a fantastic job with gestures. I love it when he is standing on the platform above the inquisitor making a judgement. He seems very precise and his decisions carefully weighted.

I did notice these paintings, yes. It would be interesting to think the ancient elves had their own (incredibly effective) weaponry against the blight, though it appears that if a corrupted being possessed enough power these wouldn't make much difference. If we learn that Elvhenan was at least partially wrecked by the blight (and it seems likely it was), seeking out what they knew might end up being at least part of the DLCs. It could help us address the question of the Calling and might make a good lead in to Solas, as well.
As to Abelas, yes, absolutely. What I meant by "not accepting of platitudes," was that his acknowledgement of Solas and his comment seemed to mean something. I doubt someone like Abelas would have wasted a gesture on something like "It'll be ok bro," no? He definitely seems thoughtful, even from so little screen time.

I'm not sure I see that as a lie. We have been given the impression that names for these ancient elves are more than call signs but holds more meaning. At the moment I see these names as masks, as in a chosen personality or a part of you you need to reconcile with or somehow work through to become "real" - to overcome a divided self. Loosely, telling someone that their story isn't over isn't incompatible with wishing that he finds a new name. It may be an instance where we miss out on something meaningful because we (as in the quizzy) don't know the context.

Coryflora himself probably wasn't, since he was around after the Old Gods had disappeared/stopped speaking to their high priests. That was well after the conquering and fall of the elven empire.
It is, however a definite possibility that the blight existed in some form before that, but was sealed away somewhere until the ancient magisters released it out into the world

Of all the elvish phrases, the fact that this is the only one I know the translation to should surprise... NO ONE. It's about as predictable as Solas making a mistake.
Like the one he's about to make when he sends Abelas after you to make sure you're alright. And sets you up for sexy ancient elvhen time. And that other time when he tells Falon'Din about Lavellan. Accidentally. Who then tells Dirthamen. Who then tells June. Who then tells whichever of the Forgotten Ones is male. And by then Lavellan has a pantheon's worth of male lovers but still her OTP. Babelas.
I.. I.. would be okay with that. (O\\\\O)
Also... Babelas. Omg. *dying*

Yeah. I actually always felt that way. They are about the same thing. One is just more poetic - what you hear. Though...my joke doesn't work with that one. Also, I kind of like the "promise" that maybe we see more of Abelas.

I was going to say perhaps Corypheus was around in a different form. I know that sounds weird but maybe whatever corrupted him passed something on to him that was very old. I don't know but something in the way Flemeth said it made me think he'd always been around in one form or another. I keep wondering if the black city is Arlathan and when the magisters went in they then caught the blight that perhaps caused the elves problems and then when they returned they brought blight to the world.
