I meant specifically the skin color changing on both Dorian and Solas personally
It's always disturbing to me.
For Solas I don't care because i'm going to assume the person was thinking of the concept art. Despite it being a concept, people already established it as his younger self. while for Dorian, it's not my taste but whatever. I shouldn't judge it any more than a mod of sexual orientation. Which is close to none.
So more elven translations today, because Solas is a lying liar whose translations cannot be trusted ![]()

Emma solas him var din'an.
Emma= "I am"
solas= "pride"
him= "becomes"
var= "our"
din'an= "death"
Literally "I am pride becomes our death". Solas translates this line as "Arrogance became our end".
What. A. Liarface.
"Pride became our end" would have been Solas him var din'an. The inclusion of Emma changes the translation entirely.
Something like "I who am Pride became our death" perhaps? ![]()

I love that you take a linguistic approach to theories; it's fascinating.
I haven't a lot to add to what you said, as I believe it's a pretty solid re-translation.
But I find it interesting how similar this is to what the Nightmare demon says to Solas in the Fade: "Your pride will become your death," or some close approximation. As we said in chat, it also bears some resemblance to the Bhagavad Gita quote used by Oppenheimer: "Now I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." Great stuff.
I thought that was yesterday or last night, or was it this morning? Not sure. I know the Colonel and someone else had a debate, but most of the conversation was under spoiler tags. And not even close to relevant anymore. Pretty sure they agreed to disagree, and it didn't strike me as heated or anything like that.
Nope, never truly a heated debate with me, unless it's Stormcloaks. There's an active debate, but you'll need to get pretty personal to get me angry. Religion is personal, but my mind's not fragile enough to be shaken by something someone else says.
So I was watching GamerMD83's video on Solas and, I even though I don't agree that Solas is Felassan, I think she's right about the orb.
Her theory was that Solas gave Coryphfrick the orb because 1) he was too weak to unlock the power and 2) He legitimately thought that Cory wouldn't survive after trying to unlock it.
This makes sense to me because he says, he shouldn't have survived and "it wasn't supposed to happen this way.
What do you guys think?

People judge, so I don't worry about not judging. I think those sexual orientation mods are crap too, and especially when people make a big deal for ones that make gays straight, but not ones that make straights gay. Like Cass'.
Doesn't mean I have a problem with them making the mods. I think pop-rap music is crap and hardly even music, but no problem with people listening to it.

"emma" can also be translated as "my", so it could also be "My pride became our end".
That being said though, I don't necessarily think he was lying about it. Elven is just as much about the intent as it is the literal meanings, so some definitions can be stretched a little.
Yeah, I don't think he's lying. I think he's just 'localizing' the dialect. Pride and arrogance are similar enough to not really be all that different in context. Saying 'I am pride becomes our death' sounds like a bad film subtitle. Solas is just properly translating it into whatever language everyone is speaking.
I see only white and gold. I don't get it. Is it like a mind trick?
So I saw this link:

And I read through and could not understand because the dress is obviously black and blue. No question. I thought there was some joke I wasn't getting. So I rolled over and asked my husband what color it was.
"White, isn't it? And gold?"
And then I started to get super creeped out by the whole thing.
It's blue and black clearly to me.

Lol that is weird. Glitch in the matrix.
It could not possibly get any more black and blue of a dress. This is so screwed up. lol.I see only white and gold. I don't get it. Is it like a mind trick?

Dear God, not you too...
I see black and blue. But this dress has spread like wildfire through Twitter, Reddit, Facebook, and Tumblr. It's freaking nuts.
Woah, that is so weird. Because I would bet my life that it is white and gold. I can't even fathom how it could be otherwise.
Is it some sort of image that is randomly loading a different picture? Maybe even locked to IP? Hrrrn.
Oh man this dress, hahahaha.
When I saw it, it was white and gold. Asked my fiance and he said the same thing. You guys seeing black and blue have better eyes I think. It's a terrible picture that is horribly over exposed. When you fix the brightness it's very obviously blue and black.

Same here. And I spent years training to be an interpreter. Translation is an art, not an exact science, for all the reasons you two just listed.

I just escaped the dress conversation over on facebook!
The dress is tacky. Case closed.

I see black and blue....people see this as white and gold???
I see gray-blue and gold.

From what people were saying on tumblr, I think it's something like this. Some were saying it changed color for them after they reblogged it. I saw white and gold and have 20/20 vision, so . . . *shrug*
Someone said maybe it was cones or how our eyes interpret brightness. But if it's a difference in how good our eyes are it'd make sense in my case, as my husband has terrible vision and mine is excellent.
I've seen a test for this, except it's specifically to see if your monitor colors are correct. Generally older monitors are more saturated. But it's still an interesting test for your eyes.
