Frankly I think Solas is more into political manifestos and critical essays... but when he does try his hand at poetry he is surprisingly good if somewhat abstract.

Out of likes:  This is how I actually always viewed him.    That's how he and my Quizzy bond actually.  She's not very...artistic.   But they talk politics, religion, etc etc.  My little smartie-pants. I <3 her so.

I love my Morrigan romance! I never quite got too attached to Alistair of Zevran, so I made a jerkWarden on a whim and was surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Morrigan was always one of my favorite characters, and seeing how she's turned out in DA:I was one of my favorite parts of the story.

That said, while I do enjoy the canon being locked to certain characters and interests- I can also see why some people want to play their own versions. That is generally the role mods fill. Same as non-canon fanart and fanfiction. Sometimes the heart wants what it wants.

I assume it is mostly just to facilitate head-canons. Some people want to have a human/Solas romance. Even if it is a glitch fiasco, seeing a small part of it is still fun to the user. Same with male/male mods, ect.

It isn't something I am personally interested in, but I'm sure there's plenty who might have fun with it. Some people might even want to see the screenshot hilarity that must be qunari/Solas.

I'll admit, if I had DAI for the PC, I'd download the mod just to see this happen:

Spoiler

http://jakface.tumbl...ance-with-solas

I have created a male warden for Morrigan and a male Inquisitor for Cassandra. both run where worth it.  and a maleShep for Jack. Maybe I'm going to make a new Shep for Tali, I don't know.

Surely one of the thing I like about the gender restricted LI. It "force" me to get out of my habit of playng a female character, and make me even want to play a male sometimes. And is really fun changing completely character sometimes!

That's what I like about genders for LIs being restricted too. I usually play as female but I want to romance characters like Morrigan in DAO, Jack in ME2 and Cass in DAI. So I "force" myself to roll a guy just to romance them and it really is a different and interesting experience. :)

Hehe, FemAdaar always looks like she's just a moment away from smothering her companions in her bosoms. I should make a very motherly and sweet Adaar someday to make up for my snippy Lavellan.

So... I checked out that Solas mod (the one that lets you romance him as any race) and...

I just don't see the point.

It has a lot of clipping, Solas and the game assume you're Dalish and the final scene makes no sense.

With those three immersion ruining things why not just roll a female elf? (or an elf in general, if you're cool with with using a mod that alters sexuality?)

Eh.  Some people just can't play elves, dwarves whatever.  If they are willing to put up with the glitching and the vallaslin scene....god speed.  Some people just want to see it bad enough because it helps their fantasies.  I know a lot of people went into the game with no intent on romancing Solas and ended up really really liking his character and wishing they could...his scenes(even as a friend) are really intimate.  Sometimes it's hard to remove that idea that the first character that "fell in love" with him is the OTP.

People gunna mod what they gunna mod.

Gender-restricted LI and awesome RPGs with set protagonists (Deus Ex, PS:T) were what helped me get out of my bubble of only playing female characters.  I'd play any race/gender/orientation combo now, though I do still have a preference for playing female.

Even if what the heart wants is a hot, clippy, motorboating mess

This is very true. I can definitely understand those feels.

With Solas it also doesn't help that you can't even get shot down by him. So it feels like you don't have a true answer as to why he might not be interested.

I wonder if, during the vallaslin scene, if you play as another character than female elf, face tattoos are erased just as much?

Like, you have a human with tattoos on her face, do they disappear as well?

Could be fun.

I wondered about that, actually. I'm guessing it would remove any tattoos, unless the vallaslin are specifically tagged. I'm impressed that scene doesn't just crash the game when it can't 'find' vallaslin on your character.

It would be funny if it was just a toggle. So if you did not have tattoos, you'd actually gain tattoos after the scene.

I guess I don't see the point because if race or gender prevents me from romancing a character and I don't want to play a male character or a dwarf or whatever then I just wont be able to play that content.

But that's my feelings on the matter and not everyone is going to share them.  Which is cool.  Doesn't stop me from seeing the mods as pointless, though.

I'm far more into playing as a male Inky to male Warden.  I think the lack of voicing acting is what makes a m!Warden less interesting to me.  I do have a m!Amell/Morrigan worldstate, though.

As for Shepard... I just can't get into playing m!Shepard.  As much as I want to romance Jack and Tali, I just can't play as him.

I think I was the opposite. I was more into playing a male Warden than male Inquisitor. It could be because of the race I played for my male Inky though -- he is a Trevelyan so I'm having a hard time playing my second DAI playthrough with a non-elf with all the elfy bits we see in the game. I do have a male Lavellan I plan on playing but I put him on hold to play my female Lavellan again. :P

As for m!Shepard, I feel you. When I first played a male Shepard, I was so turned off by how robotic he sounded in comparison to f!Shepard. But I persevered because I really wanted to romance Jack, and it was wonderful.

Ahah, I wanna test that out now, I'm so curious about it! I figure it might be quite buggy, but will give an insight at how it was programmed.

I'll admit, watching him motorboat Adaar must be hilarious.

I'm just not interested in these mods.  I'd love to romance Morrigan but she's not into women.  And because I don't like playing as a male Warden I'm not going to romance her.  Same with Tali in ME2.  I really, really wanted to romance Cass as a Lady Inquisitor in DAI, but she's straight so I'll roll a m!Inky at some point.  And another one for Dorian.  For me, that's part of the fun of a game like DAI.

Some people are just not into playing male characters, nothing wrong with that. It really doesn't bother me playing male I guess cause I have played games in the past where you can only play male. I'm glad you can play female in Bioware games I love playing Female Hawke/Warden/Inquisitor/Shepard as much as I love playing Male Hawke/Warden/Inquisitor/Shepard...equal love.  <3

I really don't understand why Jack isn't a bi LI.  And it really, really annoys me that you can only get her backstory if you romance her (in fact, that bugs me about a lot of the ME LIs.)

I'm planning on rolling either a Cadash rogue or Lavellan mage for Cass and a Lavellan mage for Dorian (it was going to be a Trevelyan but I've seen so much Lavellan/Dorian fanart that I'm just in love with the pairing now.  Plus, I'm planning on making a male version of my canon Lavellan so I can have one Lavellan that has a happy ending with their dorky mage boyfriend.)

Oh yeah, I agree with you.  I never romanced Morrigan and probably will never finish my Dorian run.  I just don't like playing as dudes if I don't have to.   I wasn't attacking your right to see them as pointless, just offering a friendly musing as to why someone may like it.

My feelings on mods are 'I love them'.   If we didn't have mods I wouldn't have the  amazing "Sloth from the Goonies" mod on SKyrim that made the game for me.

I have this headcan with my Adaar where she would just almost suffocate Cole in her bosom daily. Because he is like her little brother/child. And I can totally see her in "mother bear" mode while Cole "describe" her "activity" with Bull, screaming "don't think those things in front of the child!!!" to Bull.

I didn't see your post as an attack!  Sorry if I came off as blunt.

And I'm a huge mod fan.  I just like mods that add to the game, rather than alter it.

Imagine the vallaslin scene with a female Adaar. She's pretty tall, right? Imagine Solas' lovely hand motions as he removes Adaar's "vallaslin" only it's on her breasts instead of her head.

<snip>

Yeah, a huge factor into whether or not I will even PLAY a game these days is whether or not it will let me be a woman. I'm just not interested in being a man. I like my ladybits and I want to be able to play as something with them too. Moreover, I feel that the more I vote with my money that I am pointedly seeking out female-protagonist content, the more studios and games will respect the female demographic. The more representation we have, the more likely we'll be able to get our gender out of bedroom-restricted content, and into dynamic characters with depth.

I'd love to romance Cassandra. And I'm going to do it as a woman. And I'm ecstatic. That playthrough will never be my canon because it isn't canon. I'd be delusional to insist it were. I'm not going to force Bioware to make it canon in the future either. But it's a way I'm excited to play the game all the same.

Mods trends towards making games for me. The Interesting NPC mod for Skyrim is fantastic. I can't imagine playing without it.

Just like how having Ser Gilmore as a party member in DA:O via mods spoke to me. I'd mod that in over and over again given the opportunity.

EDIT: Top of the page Solas.

Now I want to do this, a Tamassrin(ran?) Inquisitor. ;_; And a m!Adaar who's grouchy in a I-just-woke-up sort of way. heavy lidded, always deadpan.

I should just give up on life now. DA:I and roleplaying my characters is my life now.
