So I took a beautiful video capture of the scene with my Lavellan and Solas on my PS4 when I went through it in game, and since I'm a glutton for punishment, just watched it again.
It hurts. It always does. RIGHT SOLAS? Yeah. Screw him. Screw that guy. Screw that scene. Screw everything. And by screw, I mean ****, but I didn't want to see that many asterisks in one paragraph. I need an overflowing basket of kittens.
It's been a weird day. u_u
*comfort* I know what you mean. It's even worse for me watching the final cutscene. I can't bear thinking about what's coming next, what he thinks he needs to do, how terrible it might be. Gah!
And it really, really annoys me that you can only get her backstory if you romance her (in fact, that bugs me about a lot of the ME LIs.
That always drives me crazy. I get that with a romance, you're going to see more of the character on a personal level. Fine, that's wonderful. But IMO gating important character development and insight behind the romance gives the impression that this character is incapable of really connecting with the PC unless they've been romanced. And that just turns my stomach. Jack and Thane in particular suffered from this. Dragon Age is better in general, but IMO Blackwall also has this problem.
YES! I am so excited to hear about how your internship has gone! I won't be on until.. probably 9:30-10 PST. It's gon be good.
LIAR. Jk I'm just an hour late...
Ummm, not to sound like a total noob (but I am) where or what is gchat??
Its a google hangout chat that some of the people on here go on to share their art/lore/theories/porn/craziness.

Yeah, a huge factor into whether or not I will even PLAY a game these days is whether or not it will let me be a woman. I'm just not interested in being a man. I like my ladybits and I want to be able to play as something with them too. Moreover, I feel that the more I vote with my money that I am pointedly seeking out female-protagonist content, the more studios and games will respect the female demographic. The more representation we have, the more likely we'll be able to get our gender out of bedroom-restricted content, and into dynamic characters with depth.
I'd love to romance Cassandra. And I'm going to do it as a woman. And I'm ecstatic. That playthrough will never be my canon because it isn't canon. I'd be delusional to insist it were. I'm not going to force Bioware to make it canon in the future either. But it's a way I'm excited to play the game all the same.
Mods trends towards making games for me. The Interesting NPC mod for Skyrim is fantastic. I can't imagine playing without it.
Just like how having Ser Gilmore as a party member in DA:O via mods spoke to me. I'd mod that in over and over again given the opportunity.
EDIT: Top of the page Solas. With Abelas. And it's blatantly my own work. Because I can't find a screenshot with both.
Spoiler
You get a 'like' for the Interesting NPC love.
I just couldn't romance Cass as a Lady Inquisitor, though. The lack of voicin acting, characters using the wrong pronouns and the clipping in animation would ruin the immersion for me. Plus, Cass turns down Inky because she's not into ladies so for me it falls into the non-canon territory that makes it impossible for me to enjoy a mod.

This is what bugs me as well. Mostly because I had so many feels about my friendship with EDI/Liara - mainly I cried like a big weepy baby and they were there with me in the final scene. Omg EDI's good bye. Friendships are so ****** important and I wish BW did more with that. I don't think Solas suffered from this too much - all you really see is how lonely he is and how much he is willing to give up of himself for his "greater good". But he is so earnestly respectful of a friendmanced Quizzy and seems to care for them, that it was pretty much the same. Same thing with Dorian...'my best and only friend' will never NOT make me tear up. TLDR - I cry at everything. Especially friend things.
Eek! I meant PM! Just because I'm doing laundry and cleaning up my apartment cause I've got company today til 9:30PM! Let me grab a tea from Starbucks downstairs and then I can chat for a wee bit.

I should have some rl company over sometime....but then I wouldn't be able to talk about dragonage/Falon'Din/glitterotica....

I tend to compare Jack and Leliana's romances/character development. WIth Jack you're prevented from seeing her backstory and helping her unless you romance her. With Leliana you can help her and learn her backstory all as a friend.

Yeah when you mentioned you wanted to participate in a convention, you weren't kidding when it's about 3 months before any convention.

Same. The only one that's reasonably ok as opposite genders is male lavallen for solas since we know there were lines for him.
Totally get your point of view. I just wanna do it. So I'm going to do it. It'll be awkward - hell, maybe it'll be so awkward I won't finish it. But I want to give it a go! But.. that's also my personality. You tell me I CAN'T do something? I'll sure as heck do it now!
Definitely respect your reasons for feeling differently though!
Well...
In that case...
You cannot draw Rumarin from Interesting NPCs as part of the Skyrim Temple of Sacred Asses. In fact, you are utterly forbidden from it.

Always happy to oblige.

I have no more likes to give, and that sucks, but I feel exactly as you do. Too many games almost didn't get released because editors were frightened at the sight of "the main protagonist being female" (yes, still in 2015, most recent example in my mind being "Life Is Strange"). So yeah, I'd always push for more games with main female protagonists, and for games that allow you to choose to play a female character. That option is still being forgotten too often, and it makes me sad.
UGH. RUMARIN. Holy crap... Maybe that's why I like Abelas so much.... Golden skin tones... Gold eyes... light hair.. Hooded... Mages with weapons...
I WILL DO THIS THING. I HAVE TO DO IT.
Rumarin + Dovahkiin = OTP.
Omg. I didn't even know this person. I mean, I just looked at his picture and remembered him. I played 200 hours of this game and pretty much just turned it into a hellscape of my little pony mounts, randy savage dragons, guns, space armor. I have never had so much fun breaking a game. I couldn't even begin to tell you what the hell that story was about.
.
Also, newflash had my first Solavellan feels in like THREE weeks thanks to this song hitting my iTunes shuffle.
Who knows, maybe I can twist that into being glitterotica Falon'Din x Dirthamen. And save my self-respect.
here have some Falon'Din theme music.

I had interesting npcs mods, but never recruited them since I was too fascinated with Indigo.
can't have more than one companion since they tend to kill too fast for me to soak up exp.

SWEET JESUS. IT EVEN SOUNDS LIKE GLITTER.
Falon'Din as a playboy?
I'm Done.
edit: Imagine him just walking out of an eluvian to this with glitter falling like snow, followed closely by Dirthamen, and then the rest of the pantheon in glorious outfits, all in slow motion
Frankly I think Solas is more into political manifestos and critical essays... but when he does try his hand at poetry he is surprisingly good if somewhat abstract.
He was totally into poetry. The very first conversation you have with him at Haven he breaks out the iambs. Anyone who talks in poetic meter can get it.
The Pantheon was into poetry. Falon'Din is basically Lord Byron, who drank from a skull, brought a bear with him to Oxford when he was told he couldn't bring his dog, was famously described as "mad, bad, and dangerous to know," and also the whole incest thing. So. Also, hot.
Andruil is Sappho.
Dirthamen is Christopher Marlowe. Also a legendary lover. A bit of a scamp and criminal. And hot.
I'll give Ovid to Solas--exiled, wrote some politically scandalous poetry--Augustus and he were not on good terms. Also the Ars amatoria.
Mythal is the Delphic Sybil.
Elgar'nan is Homer.
Sylaise is Emily Dickinson (total homebody)
Ghilan'nain is Mary Shelley
June is Wordsworth. Because he totally waxes poetic about nature and things like flowers and whom Byron mercilessly made fun of--my favorite was when Byron called him "Turdsworth."
I love when this thread posts great music to jam to while working.
