Did Cullen's VA ever get in trouble? Does anyone know?

 

Well, the tweets were (eventually) deleted and he was very hush-hush about it, and has been quite tight-lipped since, and there's some evidence that his spill is the reason why they had to reveal Cassandra and Cullen's LI status's so early. It's just that, they're the actors--they get excited about talking about their characters and sometimes they don't quite know what they can or can't reveal. Although they might have been briefed by now that there will be no talking about sex scenes or lack-there-of. I kinda hope they have.

I know this is hard, but we could just drop the romance, knowing he probably can't speak about it, and learn as much about his experience with Solas as we can. Maybe he'll give us a hint, but likely not. He's a fantastic actor, and while I certainly want Solas to be a LI, I also want to know what it was like for him to play such a character.

Besides, someone will ask about Solas being an LI. Someone will, it is the Law of the Universe. I'd just rather it not be any of us.

Exactly.  We can safely assume that romance/anything plot related is something he's not allowed to talk about, and I worry that trying to 'sneakily' get him to reveal such things will make it less likely for him to answer any Solas/DA related questions .  I know we're all excited, and eager for any tidbit of new Solas info, but I think keeping the questions strictly about the work/what acting out the character was like/whether he plans on playing the game, and other safe topics will show him that we respect him as an actor and are looking forward to his interpretation of the role.

Oh, I bet. The Qun seems to preach that Qunari dream differently, so the Iron Bull might think Solas has shaved a little too much off the top. Varric, as a dwarf, just might not have the frame of reference to understand, but I think he'd be interested. Sera, I think, will have some issue with it. It's just the feeling I'm getting from her. Cullen might be wary, too. Cassandra sounds like she'll have very few if any problems with it. Vivienne... I think she'll be wary but not overly distrustful, and Dorian will be fascinated. Cole will obviously have no problems. Blackwall... well, he's a Grey Warden. I don't see him being too alarmed by it. Josephine... don't know enough about her. Leliana looks like she'd freak out, though.

That kind of makes me wonder just how important Solas is to the main quest in Inquisition as opposed to the other companions. Whenever he is talked about, it seems like the Fade is being talked about in some capacity. I wonder how far they are taking it. Is he just a scholar when it comes to the Fade or maybe a dreamer like Feynriel and has no relevence to the main plot or will having him with us affect the main plot in some way?  

 

Edit: @Dr. Doctor I clicked the link and on one of the related videos someone called the mad hermit a "forest hobo." Can't say I have ever heard anyone call him that.   Anyways I can see Solas being regarded as a hermit by the others though from what we know of his personality I think they will see early on that he is more than what he seems. Also, if I remember mages can sense powerful magic like Morrigan did with the mad hermit so I think Dorian and Vivienne will probably develop more respect for Solas if they sense that he is powerful before the other companions.

I feel you, even I'm debating going a different route my first play-through just so I don't have to sit through that bout of disappointment. It seems like I have all the time in the world, but I really don't. So I'd rather go through knowing what 'formula' is going to work. But, even though I say that, I probably will still go in blindly playing a female qunari or female dwarf (depending on how they look this time around) if nothing is released concerning Solas. I did that with ME3, why can't I do that with Inquisition? (Other then the game is apparently time consuming as opposed to ME3 which I got through pretty quickly, not so much with the DLC add-ons but I still play through it for the story alone.)

Bad ass? Oh ho ho! I do wonder what this means! I am totally ready to be surprised and amazed. I also recall hearing in one of his interviews that if he could play any character he'd want to be the historical Vlad the Impaler so... I do wonder...

I was worried I'd post it in the morning and no one would see the video, but I'm glad everyone liked it so much. I even got a personal message from someone who was posting it to an Alistair Fan Club on Facebook. xD

I had to spend all day away from the computer, and so I missed the excitement, but I'm glad I didn't wait to post it then, if it did lighten the pain for some of you who were so crushed by the non-reveal drama.

I'm sticking around, but I don't want to watch the gameplay / combat video. The plot and customization and combat are really things I'd like to keep secret from myself, but I was interested in knowing the romance options after being crushed by Samara in ME2 (though this was done beautifully), and Joker and Vega in ME3 (another franchise, I know, but I'm sure someone here will be able to relate).

I hope having him address all the BSN was a good thing though, and that people are not all like, "Well now I don't have to buy a happy birthday message from GDL" [for whatever reason].

It would be interesting if we, as a player, stumbled into Solas while in the Fade. Nothing big, nothing major, just a metaphorical brushing of shoulders that causes him to investigate further. But more likely is he hears some poor soul got chucked out of a Fade tear and comes looking for us.

Anyway! I would tend to agree, and wonder whether physically leaving the Fade will affect whether or not the Inquisitor dreams at all as a result? If so, then I still think it would be interesting if that was how Solas' character was introduced. I wonder whether Dwarves would be forced to dream as a result? I don't know how many people read or watched Eragon, but I feel like that limited trippy dreaming would fit his mysticism nicely.

Qunari really do just look right as warriors. Still hate the chin tats, but she looks great otherwise.

 

I'm going to cross my fingers for some mage and rogue spec footage! I really want to see Knight Enchanter and Tempest in action.

Yea, not a big fan of that chin tattoo either, but I'm sure that is just an option and we won't have to have them. Not a big fan of face tattoos in video games. Anyways I'm glad that we can play as a mage qunari. That sounds like a very conflicting PC in terms of race and the fact they are a mage. Also glad that we are not playing Serrebas mages. Not a big fan of having to see my PC mouth mostly sewed shut.

By the way I hope we get to see some more of the elf PCs. That female screenshot of one looked good. Maybe they will introduce a male elf in the gameplay video?

I posted that it was available as soon as it was available in this thread, and then had to keep checking in case someone else did what I intended to do as soon as I got paid. xD

GDL was so nice about it. I was even worried that I'd get a message back, being like, "It has to be a personal message (Happy Birthday, Congrats on your Marriage, etc.) and can't advertise a brand" when I asked him to wish us a good time for the release of DA:I, but it all worked out. (: You're very welcome to it. It feels good to make people happy.

That's a confusing question. It seems like something an extrovert would do at least. d: I'd expect that if he is in the dreams of others it is because boundaries of who is where in the Fade and which dreams are whose are less strict than that.
