My music loving heart skips a beat (read: I get a girl boner) at the thought of Solas being gifted with any instrument, but then my meanie brain butts in with the thought that it seems unlikely for him to also be highly talented in that regard when he's already extremely cerebral, eloquent and painterly. And an Elven god, graceful, powerfully gifted in the ways of magic and general rebellious awesomeness.

 

But hey, my loins won't argue. Instrumental Solas would be hot.

Singing. Isn't there a comic out there about Solas being jealous of other's singing capabilities? We needs it. We wants it.

See I want that but his voice is already too melodic and sing-songy.  I feel he would have a lovely voice. 

 

EDIT:  Maybe cooking.  He's ok at simple stuff.  Like stuff you can make at a small camp fire, but beyond that...TERRIBLE.   Also, maybe throwing.  Like physical "sports".   You ask him to toss you something and it falls short and you're like 'what the crap?'

I don't think it was Fen'Harel in the fade.  I don't know why I'm certain, but the part where he's like

I think he was going to say reminds him OF Fen'Harel.   It just makes sense since Felassan is like Dread Wolf's #1 fanboy and Briala and the DW are similar...in a way.  So Felassan could have been talking to another god - possibly Falon'Din. He seems to be set up to be the next villain and Solas does seem to know him personally - he slips up a bit in game.  Solas says - 'his vanity was second only to his self-regard' - like how do you know that unless you KNOW the person.  Or it could be someone else. 

Ok it definitely makes sense to me that he would would say that about Briala...

So do you think there is a certain part of the fade a somniari could access that would let them communicate with the locked away gods? I always got the impression they were somehow completely unconscious...but I guess that's just because Cole says they're "sleeping" but I suppose they could just be physically sleeping and still be conscious locked in the fade somewhere seething and planning big revenge....

*comfort* I know what you mean. It's even worse for me watching the final cutscene. I can't bear thinking about what's coming next, what he thinks he needs to do, how terrible it might be. Gah!

People with his smarts often have an artistic side of some sort. It could be that he puts all of that into his painting and such as you say, and would not play an instrument. Like you, I enjoy the thought that he could.

Dorian: Well, you don't have the most refined of palettes. So, Solas, what do you call this, "Root Surprise?" "A Ram Died for This?" Is cooking a new thing for you? Odd.

Solas: Yes.  . . . I mean no.

Dorian: Well you cook about as well as you tailor your clothes.  

 

Edit: Obviously agree with Kissiebear about the cooking.

You make a very good point. He's so poetic when simply speaking that it's not a big stretch for him to sound lovely singing. SIGH. Solas, y u so gud at things.

 

HA! I could totally see the throwing thing. He's brilliant at directing magic, but ask him to toss you the waterskin around the campfire one night, and it flops sadly five feet to your left.

Love piano. I remember being able to play Pachelbel's Canon with my eyes closed in school on the keyboard, but I would have loved to be able to play a proper piano with all the feets pedals and everything. x) Just gotta learn... and get a piano... and space to put the piano in. x)

I literally just read it and going into the scene knowing it was coming it really did seem like he...also knew it was coming. It also weirdly implies that he is not in his own body...which I really didn't want to subscribe to but....iunno I guess.

Regarding the vallaslin - no. 

 

It's also possible, it was one of the gods - but the design was lost a long time ago. Vallaslin design - even in modern Thedas - can differ from clan to clan. But again, it's pointedly commented on so it's unlikey.

Just a further musings on Felassan's final comment:

Felassan was always kind of a tricky bastard. His closing lines are essentially to say that the [mortal] elves are stronger than "he" thinks. Then he immediately starts to compare Briala to Fen'Harel. If this is another elven god we're talking about, then he's essentially implying that the mortal elves might have the tenacity to do exactly what Fen'Harel did to the gods.

 

Or-if the end goal is to end up with a new empire and the mortal elves as slaves, that they will ultimately refuse to submit.

Ughhhh Babelas. The end of chapter 6 slays me every dayum time. I'll probably have to type up some notes to see if Tina's up for it. I don't want to force her into writing anything she's not into, especially if she's riding the glitterotica train at present. Perhaps we just need some GlitteroticathanEra!Abelas v. Falon'Din and it transitions to the present where they meet again with Tenebrium!Lavellan?
