So, recently I was reading and article about DLC and they said that Bioware has taken back their original statement about a expansion like DAO:Awakening and now say it is a possibility. Has anyone else heard this? I will have to see if I can find the article again.
I keep wondering about that, because were they not making an expansion for DA2 before it was canceled? I'd like to think DAI merits an expansion if DA2 was going to have one.
I have delved into my Artemis poems and . . . I find I want this. Bad.

Excerpts from "Artemis to Actaeon"
Edith Wharton
Ere death had stamped it there. This was thy thought.
And mine?
The gods, they say, have all: not so!
This have they -- flocks on every hill, the blue
Spirals of incense and the amber drip
Of lucid honey-comb on sylvan shrines,
First-chosen weanlings, doves immaculate,
Twin-cooing in the osier-plaited cage,
And ivy-garlands glaucous with the dew:
Man's wealth, man's servitude, but not himself!
And so they pale, for lack of warmth they wane,
Freeze to the marble of their images,
And, pinnacled on man's subserviency,
Through the thick sacrificial haze discern
Unheeding lives and loves, as some cold peak
Through icy mists may enviously descry
Warm vales unzoned to the all-fruitful sun.
So they along an immortality
Of endless-envistaed homage strain their gaze,
If haply some rash votary, empty-urned,
But light of foot, with all-adventuring hand,
Break rank, fling past the people and the priest,
Up the last step, on to the inmost shrine,
And there, the sacred curtain in his clutch,
Drop dead of seeing -- while the others prayed!
I from afar
Beheld thee fashioned for one hour's high use,
Nor meant to slake oblivion drop by drop.
Long, long hadst thou inhabited my dreams,
Surprising me as harts surprise a pool,
Stealing to drink at midnight; I divined
Thee rash to reach the heart of life, and lie
Bosom to bosom in occasion's arms.
And said: Because I love thee thou shalt die!
[. . . ]
For immortality is not to range
Unlimited through vast Olympian days,
Or sit in dull dominion over time;
But this -- to drink fate's utmost at a draught,
Nor feel the wine grow stale upon the lip,
To scale the summit of some soaring moment,
Nor know the crown of life and seal it up
Secure forever in the vaults of death!
And this was thine: to lose thyself in me,
Relive in my renewal, and become
The light of other lives, a quenchless torch
Passed on from hand to hand, till men are dust
And the last garland withers from my shrine.
Edited to highlight this quote because feels:
"And this was thine: to lose thyself in me,
Relive in my renewal, and become The light of other lives, a quenchless torch Passed on from hand to hand, till men are dust And the last garland withers from my shrine."
The poem is written in the voice of Artemis to Actaeon--the man who saw her bathing naked so she turned him into a deer and hunted him for his transgression. So. Anyway. Carry on.

Right? Actually, I forgot an important piece of concept art Carrieli found. Though it has changed since being uploaded, the original title was something like "Sunken Arlathan" (though she could tell you better, my memory from last night is slightly hazed from having 30 minutes of sleep total ). If we look at this, and then at the art from What Pride Had Wrought, perhaps this was above the area in Cadash Thaig.
But I agree. It seems likely that Solas sought powerful mages after waking, perhaps specifically ones trusted by the People. What you mention about his wonder at Mythal's continued presence is also a good point; I feel like he definitely did not know, perhaps until we did.
I'm just imagining this pitiful Solas wandering around Thedas mewling "halp" as he held out his little ball.
It's in the art book as Arlathan. I wonder if it was originally intended for us to see it THIS game.

He does not. It does not take away from the fact that my Lavellan wanted to climb up on him the second he said endure.
I think I've adopted lizasaurus' Abelas as True Abelas, so was suddenly taken aback by that screen capture. Maybe Mythal forced her temple guardians to shave their brows. It's a very rigid process, being trained and accepted into guardian-hood. The final step is complete hair removal. (Mythal does this by hand, with a magical straight razor, for all her devotees.)

I like to think prolonged uthenera(spell?) causes eventual hair-loss. Hence, bald Solas. x)
I definitely experienced some intense sympathetic embarrassment when Cullen shut his eyes to sing.
YES! I fully expected the singing to stop but Cullen still going on and doing air-guitar and stuff. Oh Cullen, I'm getting embarrassed thinking about it!

That is totally part of the theory. We know it was Solas because of the plaintive "squeak squeak squeak," his dread wolf slippers made during the search.
Thank you though! We knew it was once labelled online as Arlathan, but to see that remains in the book is awesome. I kind of hope we still see this design, perhaps in DLC.

Please do find the article again! I need to read this!

I love how so many people saw Solas as a meek, weak nobody when the character was first introduced, only to find him to be a smooth-as-eff badass in the game... and now many are back to "lo, he is a pathetic weakling who lost his stuffed toy!"
Poor guy. It's nice to know he really is more complicated than the sum of what people make him out to be. I really do wonder what he'll show up as in DLC.

The more I look at this - it's kind of inaccurate. Solas approved of me pretty much just existing. For me he was the easiest character in the game to get approval with. Him and Dorian. Vivienne was the worst.

I sat through Torchwood just to listen to him. Well I may have stayed for the adorable Ianto/Jack romance....
Want some advice? DON'T WATCH SEASON THREE! I expressed my unhappiness with that season in this thread before.
Spoiler
It kills Ianto in the stupidest way possible, retcons his bisexuality to being 'just Jack' and has Jack commit several actions that make it impossible to ever like the man again.
