Yes I agree this day has gone by a wee bit slow but I just finished Asunder and probably will read again! Wow that was a good book....

Dorian and Vivienne both appear to be confident mages (Dorian is proud of his magic and enjoys showing off and Vivienne is... well, she's Vivienne,  'nough said) so will they really give us another?  I guess even if he's not confident in the traditional sense he doesn't necessarily have to be insecure or meek, he could be too oblivious or uncaring to be self-conscious.  That's actually one of the things I love about my sister so I'd enjoy that in a companion

When it comes to banter I always find Vivienne the easiest. She seems very shallow, fashionable and full of herself. She reminds me of Morrigan when you first meet her (except the fashionable part although she does like jewlery). I find these types of companions very interesting though. I sincerely hope that, in time, she will be more fleshed out and perhaps grow a sense of respect for Solas and his intelligence. Though it is very hard to imagine her getting past his clothes.

 

Edit: To answer your question it will add variety if they gave that sort of personality to Solas. Also if you count all companions you will find that there are more proud, confident, and fun companions in the party: Vivienne, Dorian, Varric, Iron Bull, and Sera as opposed to those who do not have this type of personality: Cole, Cassandra, maybe Solas. I would much rather Solas be added with Cole and Cass if only to avoid too many similar personalities within the party, but that is just my opinion.

I suspect you have made an accurate guess. I can see him as an academic sort who doesn't even notice anything outside of his field of expertise. Or he could simply dismiss anything that doesn't pertain to the situation at hand as insignificant. On one hand he comes off as oblivious, and on the other as arrogant. I think both are equally likely.

He's there because he just wants to be left alone to experiment and study. That sort of made me think of the mental image I currently have of Solas, actually.

I'm sure we've speculated about what I'm about to say a bunch of times but I'm in need of a Solas fix so I'm gonna do it again!  I could see Solas having been a prideful youth who got overconfident and made a mistake that possibly hurt other people, so he fled and became a hermit/loner to keep from hurting anyone again and took the name Solas as a constant reminder to humble himself.

 

Edit: omg I need Solas now before my mind enters an infinite loop and crashes.

dorian seems flamboyant to me as well, I got that vibe when I first saw his concept arts, after all he didn't get dramatic hands mustache guy from thin airXD I still will probably have him in my fem-human mage inquisitior 's party. As long as iron bull is romanceable with human females (still convinced he is because of what one of the devs posted a while back, i can't remember her name... and then jerked the fans around even more when she was like "or is he?", i think it was karine weekes (sp?))

He'd look at Sera like, "Uh, you belong to our ancient master race and this is what you're doing with yourself? Nice going. Why did I wake up, again?" She'd probably look at him like, "Wow, so much for our ancestors being all that. This judgey pain in the a$$ puts me to sleep every time he opens his mouth. Respect my life choices, dude." And Cole, who knows Sera hates him, figures out the "Fade expert" isn't any better than anyone else at helping him figure out what he is and thinks, "Maybe I should have stuck with the unfeeling, incorporeal thing after all. This sucks."

Ok, now I need to save my likes so I don't run out before Solas' definite possible reveal tomorrow   So, I know it's VERY possible we won't see him tomorrow, but there's still a chance we could know more of Solas in less than 24 hours   As excited as I am this interminable waiting has helped me develop a lot of patience so even if someone else is shown tomorrow or no one at all I'll survive.  I think.

It will be less than 3 months until the games release on 7/7/2014 which is technically 8 days from now, that's not that long, especially when you think about when information came out in jan to june, we're over the worst of the waitingXD (or worse, last year when we had few companions if any revealed) But i suppose the closer it gets the more awful it isXD I know it was that way with Mass effect 3 for meXD
