That part wasn't from the Fic, I just think that's too convenient. I don't think it's right. It's just, if he's all "when did I say I would save you?" Why would he free slaves? Why would people abhor and forget him? What if everything we thought we knew about Solas is wrong? What if he's a better liar then we thought, what if he has lingering guilt from leaving everyone to thier fate?

 

Okay, maybe I get this all wrong but in case you really take fanfic as a basis: don't.

Besides, you really overstrain those rhetorical questions. There's a lot of people on this thread and you can be sure that about every possible theory has come up already and every opinion is represented by at least one person here. What if - yes! What if everything. We don't claim to know "everything about Solas". And the "lingering guilt" is also no new idea. We will have to wait and see how things turn out.

But how is that related to racism?

And don't forget that the Dalish are just as racist toward humans as the other way round.

I want to know your opion though, and this a judgement free zone. Supposing it's just fantasy racism and all, and since your icon is a dwarf(am I right?). What do you think about Solas and his racism towards dwarfs, in particular the level of overall systematic racism it implies.
Alright, let me say it this way. Solas and everyone in Thedas looks down on dwarves in more ways then one. They have the to speak of currently, a top selling author(varric), a genius/the best arcanist, the best engineer(Bianca), but people still look down on them. How does it make you feel, do you just shake it off and keep going? If it interfered with gameplay would you care?

dwarves are looked down on? From the game i've been getting the impression that they are viewed as a model minority. They can live in the upper class district, they have positions of power due to their vital role, there are no complaints towards them other than being short. Personally, I like the internal conflict, it makes the world more immersive because it reflects our world in a realistic cynical fashion. I wish there was more for possibly a warden but inquisitor has been reminded by everyone that they have no idea what people really think of them. So you remain naive in your own company.

edit: They're also practical and non-magical. So safe and efficient.

I've never played DA2 but I got it in the sale so I'm really looking forward to giving it a go, but I don't know who I wanna romance. xD I know Anders is meant to be nothing like he was in Awakening but I still wanna romance him for that, but then I've seen some gifs of Fenris giving Hawke an angry kiss and I really wanna see what that. (* . *) Gah!

  

That's what I'm worried about. ;_; I want to pick the "right" romance first just in case I can't do another PT. I've never played it myself but my partner did, and I remember he hated it, and I remember not liking half of the companions (Isabela and Merril namely) myself.

Hope I'm not too late to reply but I love both romances. Both characters have troubles but they are good romances and they both can either end in tragedy or end in a happy ending ....or one of them in a somewhat happy ending it depends on your choices.

Anders is a good romance and he says some sweet things to your Hawke but Fenris is sweet too make your heart melt and his romance is a bit less dramatic lol

But it's your decision and If you are going to play once and like less drama maybe Fenris should be the one to romance. If you decide to play again give Anders a go.

Yes I know..I'm just the kind of person that plays the heck out of a game when I like it. I've played Borderlands 2 about 8 times now...mass effect 2 at least 15 times...the list goes on lol! XD

When you are a house wife and have no job or drivers license due to seizures you try to find something to do when you are not cleaning house or cooking. It's weird but that's just me.

I can only imagine the number of playthroughs with mods of Alternative Start, Interesting NPCs, and that one new immersive romance mod where you can potentially smack a woman for flirting with your man. I felt I was inside a cheese teenage romance book.
