I don't know if I like the glimpse of Solas we see very much, especially the glimpse who see right after wicked hearts or whatever. He's just so...infuriating! Especially given how everyone else treats the Dalish. I just don't feel as though there was an adequate response to his "I'm not yoooour type of elf" statement.

It just felt like...hmmm...after having Sera and everyone beef on you so hard it seems kind of harsh. It just got me thinking about how no one in DAI really feels like a true friend. How many would actually stand behind an elf, a mage, a dwarf, a talvashoth. if the Inquisitor didn't have the anchor, didn't have authority who would ever stand by them at all? That feeling of distrust, of distance, it never really went away for me.

 

It's not just about the Anchor.  Sure, the Anchor is the reason why the Inquisition forms and everyone joins up, but it's not why they stay. Your Inquisitor has to meet them halfway, and if s/he isn't willing to, that's not the companions' fault.  If Varric can befriend a Vashoth Inquisitor, and Cassandra a non-religious Inquisitor, then it's not about what you believe.  It's about who you are as a person.

 

As for Solas (and to some extent Sera), IMO their opinions on the Dalish and the elves in general do not make or break them as characters.  It's always more complicated than that.  Solas himself waffles between "my people" and "our people" when referring to the elves, both in his banters and his scripted dialogue.  Yes, it can be infuriating (Solas after Halamshiral, Sera after Mythal), but I think the devs gave us plenty of dialogue options to disagree with them or challenge them.

I felt the only one who disliked my Lavellan was Sera. Solas may be a little harsh, sometimes, but I just have to reaload my City Elf in DAO and how she is received by the Dalish to give him all the reason in the world.

Is still the motive I headcanon an originally City Elf Lavellan.

I love this so very much.  Pokemon X/Y was my favorite in the series in a long, long time.  Mostly for Professor Sycamore, but I also actually thought the main storyline was interesting.  Which almost never happens in a Pokemon game.
 
Maybe give Solas a ghost-type pokemon?  He's into trees and spirits, how about Trevenant?

I'm planning on doing everyone in the inquisition with two pokemon each (can't get the energy to do more xD ) based on their character. Solas is getting Munna (because dreams) and Zoroark (because wolf-like, illusions and foxes are generally seen as tricksters in myths)

I'm doing my pokemon/dragon age crossover fanart and I'm thinking about pokemon trainer Solas's clothes. I was thinking I'd give him a green hoodie, white scarf, black undershirt and blue pants. Then I realised... he'll look a lot like AZ.

 

 

Immortal being who was once very powerful. Deep love for what he had. Lost in a strange world that has forgotten what it was. Saved those he loved at a terrible cost.

 

I'm mainly just amused I gave him the same colour scheme without meaning to xD Gotta give him a red beanie to complete the look. Or a Flabébé!

I'm literally almost 100% sure I shouldn't even respond to this because I'm equally certain it's not going to end well, but I can't help myself so here goes.

 

First, not liking Solas is totally okay. Some people here do not. But if you come here and do not expect that a fan thread will argue you to the death about it, you're in the wrong place. Because they will defend him. To the death. Maybe not to the death, but maybe to the death of this thread if need be. So I'm just saying, dislike Solas all you want, but you're never going to win that conversation in this particular thread.

 

Second, you must be playing this game vastly different from the 400+ hours I've put into it so far. Because at the end of every game Dorian basically calls me his bestest friend for life, Sera's given up going back to Val Royeaux to hang out some more, Cole is basically my adoptive son, Bull and the chargers are like family, Viv stuck around to help pick out my new wardrobe,...I mean I don't know. I could go on. But basically I would trust almost every single one of them with my life. Besides Viv, Sera, Leliana and Varric. And that's only because Viv and Sera put themselves before anyone else, and Leli and Varric have more important people in their lives they would put before me. 

 

You get from this game what you put into it.

I got to the endgame of X/Y (starting with Lysandre's crazy apocalyptic plan) and my jaw just about hit the floor.  How did attempted genocide, faux-nuclear superweapon, and tragic feels get into my Pokemon game?

Cullen would. Seriously. Or Josie. Cassandra does not care about who you are at all. Dorian can become a real friend. Sera will stand by you if you show respect for the people. Varric in any case. Dagna. Blackwall really is the last to judge. And all those people who signed up for the inquisition because you inspired them (see Bull's cutscene). Yes, there is racism. But the Dalish have been working hard for it. You reap what you sow after all. It's not so easy to blame any one party entirely here.

However, I have not yet understood how racism has anything to do with it, so maybe I even misunderstood the issue in the first place. 

 

The Dalish are not exactly hospitable. I am not sure how Solas approached them, knowing him it might have involved arrogance and lecturing, but anyway. I remember how the Dalish treated me -- even Dalish me -- in DAO and how they almost slid my throat as a welcome gesture in DA2. There's usually two sides to a story and who can't see that and can't even take being pointed to that is totally wrong on this thread. On the internet, actually.
