Wait did Gaider leave?

 

He is moving onto the new Bioware IP. So he's still writing with BW and probably available for consultation regarding DA, but he's no longer on that writing team.

 

 

That's what I'm hoping too!  Weekes might be persuaded to allow Solas and Lavellan a happy ending (well, as happy as a god loving a mortal can be!).  I mean, I'd like it if the Supreme Happy Elfy Ending was achievable through completion of certain quests/actions/etc. kind of like how in FFX-2 you had to do a new game plus and complete over 100% to get the happy ending for Yuna and Tidus.

 

I'm fairly sure that Solas' fate is already decided but I'm not sure that means that we're not going to have the option for a (relatively) happy ending. The fandom seems to be able to come up with fates for Solas that shock even Weekes so I don't think anything he comes up with will be as grim as the saddest scenarios that we can come up with.

Also, someone informed me that the birthday of the original Solas thread is in THREE DAYS (i.e. March 6). In just three days the official Solas fandom will be a year old!

Well, this is a SOLAS thread so we should always try to keep conversations about Solas

 

Does anyone here also really want to read a book about young Solas getting his rebellion on?  I think that would be a fantastic story, especially from the Weekes.  And concerning he is now the Lead Writer, perhaps he will be able to give Solas a slightly happier ending if we romanced him? :3

 

I'd totally be psyched if there was a book on young Solas! I want to know more about the real Fen'Harel -- How he was like back in the days of Arlathan? Who were his closest peers back in the day (besides Mythal and spirits or whatever)? Did he have a lover or two? How were the elvhen gods really like? Were they really as bad as he says they were? Etc, etc, etc.

LOL poor Solas XD  I like the idea of Lavellan being playful like that.  Solas can sometimes have Grumpy Old Man syndrome so it's cute lol

 

I love how cute Lavellan's animations are during the romance scenes with Solas, like she's so flirty and coy (cocking her head to the side and so on).  Definitely a big change compared to her i-gotta-poop-get-outta-the-way walking animations in all the other scenes ahahaha XD

 

But COME ON guys maybe Solas' fate isn't completely set in stone yet!  HAPPY ENDING HAPPY ENDING

On a tangentially related note, my Hermit shirt just arrived!  I got a small and it's actually pretty long on me.  Longer than most girl's shirts.  I'm usually a S/M depending on the shirt style, so if y'all can't decide between sizes, err on the smaller side.

It is very adorable. Regarding Grumpy Old Man syndrome, to be fair, Solas is pretty damn old. xD

 

I try to stay positive that Solas might get a happy ending (whether he's romanced or at least friends with the Inquisitor), but sometimes it's hard. I don't know, I sometimes keep myself open to the possibility that his story might end tragically. At least I'll somewhat be ready for it if the time comes. 

 

But I really sincerely hope there is a happy ending for him...

I laughed at the "I gotta poop get outta the way" line you put in there lol! The first time I saw that balcony scene I was like "Dear GOD Lavellan's walking like she just got a massive wedgie!" 

 

Anyways stay positive ya'll. I'm very positive we will get that chance of a happy ending.

Ten years. There have been ups and downs, but  Mr. Gaider shaped so much of what draws us to and fascinates us about these games. He wrote so many great characters, lovable love interests, so much wonderful dialogue and biting snark.

But nobody could take the reins half as well as Patrick Weekes. He's the perfect successor. It's an occasion happy and sad and exciting.

 

David Gaider is leaving Dragon Age?! That 'Maker, NOOO' video is playing in my head right now.   Alistair, Morrigan, Shale, Fenris, Cassandra, Dorian... such awesome characters and some of my very favorites in the whole series. Though I am now 100% more interested in whatever the new super secret BioWare project is.

 

Weekes is pretty fantastic as well though. Dragon Age is in good hands. I suppose I might like that Solas character a teensy bit.

 

Apparently Gaider helped Weekes in writing Solas. I'm hoping that he helped him write all the sad parts and now we will have a lot more of riding off into the uncharted west on unicorns since Gaider won't be involved in DA.

 

Eh, not so sure about that one. I cried soooo hard at the end of Mordin Solus's character arc in the Mass Effect series. So proud and so sad at the same time.

 

On the topic of Solas, here is a random-ish question I've been mulling over.

 

When Solas speaks through Cole at the end of the game, Cole immediately forgets their conversation. Do you think this is because Cole voluntarily makes himself forget or because Solas erases his memory? If the latter option, is it possible that Solas somehow used Cole's own ability against him?

Ah, but I'm happy for Weekes. I think he'll do well, even if my emotions fear it. 

Though I am gutted to see Gaider go as he is responsible for writing all my favourites. I'm glad he'll be within earshot by the sounds of it, because I'd hate for them to go working on DLC and have someone else write his DAI characters D: 

 

But Weekes, as head writer that means you have the power for ALL THE SOLAS. Yup. Make it happen.

 

I'm so behind on all this, I see my PS4 installed a new patch today as well. I should probably find out what that is.. After sleep.. When it's not half 3 in the morning..

I think Weekes said that Solas just removed the memory of his plans or where he was going, but nothing else. Which should mean that Solas did it.
