No, still not working, but since we can see the name of the file, I know now who you're talking about.
Patrick Fischler, a great actor I've seen in numerous TV Shows. And hum, kinda, I guess, even though I don't like Patrick's face much.

Spoiler

I do see it, if I put my thumb over his hair. Someone needs to shop out these heavy-duty eyebrows and make him bald For a true comparison.

I don't know. His jawline, eyebrows and lips are kinda killing it for me. These are really defined traits in Solas face, and they don't match his.

Although, he has the nose for it, and overall face shape.

This thread is weird. Did anyone consider what would happen when half the posters picked up and moved out? It's like Solas breaking up with me for my own good again.

If you just would have had the pantheon theory discussion in here like you are over there now, the mods never would have warned us.

I guess we can create a new chart, where a mod post a warning message to tell us to keep it down, leading to the thread entering a slow posting mode that makes everyone sad for half the chart.

I would have preferred it if Thane had leaped into the scene and killed Kai Leng with a single backhand, then died giving a thumbs up to Shepard. Or at least knocked him back into a respectable villain status. Still one of my favorite scenes in ME3, when he sasses Leng for being beaten by a long-gone terminally ill retired assassin.

But I wouldn't have supported a cure for Thane. Too much of his story was wrapped up in his dying, his coming to terms with his death, and trying to make amends. It'd...cheapen it, I guess.

Kind of like how I wouldn't have supported curing Blackwall's calling as part of the romance if he was, um, actually a Grey Warden. I don't approve when characters get to dodge the Bullets of Fate that we've been waiting in dreadful silence to fire for ages.

Honestly,  I just didn't want him to have to die in game to give the option of a headcannon cure for those who wished it.  As we knew he was a viable lung transplant option he could easily have survived the game,  the PTB just clearly didn't want to use the resources to give us a choice, and that is what really stung after a 2 year wait we got an excruciatingly awkward snog in the hospital and the stupidist fight ever... and it still kind of stings now.   Its weird, not having a choice breaks my brain,  I love Mordin's death simply because there is an element of choice there.  Legions death just annoyed me and Thane's... don't really have words

This is why I'm quite uncomfortable with the cliffhanger end of DAI,   I now have trust issues with Bioware  , but try and take comfort in believing that PW kind of gets why we were upset about Thane, and would not want to do that to the fans of Solas.

Thane's history from before he meets Shepard is what you said: no wife, an estranged son, a dangerous illness - Thane had come to term with his inevitable death, and didn't searched for cured that existed (cf Shadow Broker files). BUT during Mass Effect 2, he meets Shepard, he can find his son again, he can even fiind love again. And at the end, the last romance scene: he wants to live, he is once again afraid to die - because now he has his son, he has Shepard and their friendship or love - people who care about him. I had no doubt, after that, that he'd search for cure/means to significantly extend his life. But then in ME3, it's like ME2 didn't even happen: Thane is at peace with dying, had done nothing beside sitting on a hospital bed for 6 months, and he didn't search any of the treatments we'd heard about (and also, his illness had magically changed between ME2 and ME3 :/). So, even if a complete cure for Kepral's syndrome had been discovered, it wouldn't have "cheapened" anything: on the contrary, it would have been the continuation of what we saw in ME2: a man learning he can find new reasons to live (family, friends, a lover maybe, and the good he can do in the galaxy), and taking the courage to fight, for them, but mostly and firstly he has now to fight for his own life - a life he wants. But nooooo, ME3 changed Thane and it's like ME2 had never existed...

That's exactly why I will never import my ThaneRomance in ME3. that and no one even mentioning him after he died. every time I talk to Garrus and Joker post attack on the Citadel and they talk about Mordin, I always expect them mentioning Thane. And I'm always annoyed that they never did. I so immersion breaking...let's not talk how bad is if Thane was Shep's lover. bleah!

And in a way, this decosntruction of Thane make ME2 even more useless than already feel during all ME3. -_-

Whatever happen to Solas, I hope we have at least some reaction from the companions.

Given as Weekes was apparently against the treatment of Thane in ME3 and he wrote the Solas romance because he felt like it (and wanted to make the character more tragic) I think we're safe when it come romance acknowlegement.  Weekes also said on twitter that he'd like to be able to patch in dialouge for the Clan Lavellan war table mission.  He seems to care about this stuff.

The more I see of ME and DA, and how difficult it is to carry choices forward, the more I start to think that the illusion of choice is far more important than actually letting the player influence the plot in a major way.

Take ME2, for example.  The plot of ME2 is on some pretty serious rails.  Shep's death, Horizon, the derelict Reaper, the attack on Normandy, and the suicide mission all play out pretty much the same way no matter what you do.  But the companion sideplots have plenty of room for roleplaying without actually derailing the main plot.  IMO this is why the Dark Ritual decision was such a pain in the ass for them; it introduced a significant plot element for a major character (Morrigan), but only existed in some people's games.  And while I think the Kieran/Morrigan/Flemythal set of scenes were handled beautifully in DA:I for what it's worth, it was a tremendous use of time and resources just to wrap up that one plot thread.

One thing that's great about Weekes is that he really seems enthusiastic about what he does, and willing to engage with fans. I'll never forget that little story he wrote via twitter about a Salarian noir detective. It was really awesome. His wife also works at Bioware [lead editor].

Which was why I was ready to flip some tables when people temporarily chased him off twitter.

@Maria13 brought up a question, a few days and pages ago, that got me thinking. She asked what were some peoples current thoughts on the Forgotten Ones?

I have two theories, based on absolutely nothing, in-game.

1) The Forgotten ones may have been the OG's. Original pantheon. Then, some upstarts (possibly even their kin), decided that they didn't care for the current "gods" regime. Whether it was for some moral/ethical reason, or they just wanted to be the "Kings and Queens", I haven't sussed out, in this completely unsupported hypothesis.

2) The second one, is somewhat similar to the first, but more in "reverse". Not sure why, but I rather like the idea, that a number of these characters are related to each other (in a "family way"). May be due to youthful readings of old mythology. *shrug*. Anyway, the second idea is that the Forgotten Ones are (at least some of them) the children of the known DA elven pantheon. These "children" disagreed with, disobeyed, or were simply seen as a threat to some or many of the pantheon. Hence, they were cast out and their identities were collectively called "Forgotten Ones".

As to the events that separated these two groups from the original pantheon, well.....no idea! Again, none of this is substantiated in anything I have found in the game lore.

The main reason I am considering these silly thoughts, is because it gives a rather no-nonsense reason why Solas/Fen'Harel, would or could, easily connect with both groups. I think of it like this: You have two friends, that are married. They divorce, and begin the process of separating their lives. You were always friends to both, and you continue to juggle such a friendship.

Granted, I am aware of the very abbreviated nature of these theories, and their relation to Solas. Still felt like putting them down on paper___errr, forum post.

About the glitterotica thread, I'm glad they got one; it was funny and kept the thread lively, but tbh after some time to me it became tiring and too dominant over other conversations; I'll visit them in small doses and hope all the amazing people didn't leave this thread for good.

Oh Gaider.  You magnificent bastard, you

I am currently getting to (vicariously) experience evil dev chuckles, though.  My BFF is developing an interactive novel using Choice Of Games and their tools, and some of the beta feedback is the funniest thing in the world.  Things like people requesting the obviously bad-news-bears younger Illusive Man character to have a happy ending to his romance.  And she's just caught between BWAHAHAHA and "WTF is actually WRONG with y'all?!"
