Also, while I was looking for other actors who might look like Solas, I stumbled upon James Mcavoy...
What do you guys think? Perhaps a younger Solas?
*faints*
He has the jawline. And the eyes. And...*drifts off into dreamy staring*

The more I see of ME and DA, and how difficult it is to carry choices forward, the more I start to think that the illusion of choice is far more important than actually letting the player influence the plot in a major way.
Take ME2, for example. The plot of ME2 is on some pretty serious rails. Shep's death, Horizon, the derelict Reaper, the attack on Normandy, and the suicide mission all play out pretty much the same way no matter what you do. But the companion sideplots have plenty of room for roleplaying without actually derailing the main plot. IMO this is why the Dark Ritual decision was such a pain in the ass for them; it introduced a significant plot element for a major character (Morrigan), but only existed in some people's games. And while I think the Kieran/Morrigan/Flemythal set of scenes were handled beautifully in DA:I for what it's worth, it was a tremendous use of time and resources just to wrap up that one plot thread.
Yup I agree, it is all an illusion, and that illusion is provided by our PC's relationships and interactions with the characters, it would be impossible to make meaningful choices throughout the story, the best we can expect is different paths to the same end (champions of the just etc). I do understand how carrying over decisions is a bit of a nightmare for them, even on a small scale and tbh I fully support them trying to make each DA game as separate as they can, with only occasional acknowledgement of our choices. The only reason I really wanted to see/hear more from Zevran in DA2 was because of that one line in DAO that killed me 'at least, for a time'... wtf 'for a time' nooooooooooo my Warden and Zev were all set to ride of into the sunset and the epilogue says 'for a time'
Then DA2 buggy ugly stick zev happened
... sorry, rambling.
Regarding Solas and continuation, there seems to be a few that expect he's going to be an ongoing character of the series, and if he is then him having some kind of reconciliation with Lavellan seems plausible and pretty easy to carry forward, but I think that it is much more likely that Morrigan is going to pick up that mantle, especially in light of the developer notes... Or maybe, we're going to have to choose between Morrigan and Solas
(would be a no brainer for me... I like you Morrigan, but not that much).
The Solas romance was added to make it sadder, but would PW really have done that if he knew for a fact that we were going to have to kill him or that he was going to die no matter what? there were surely other ways his character could have been made sadder?
ME was different, as it was a trilogy and ongoing story and protagonist I think players had every right to have certain expectations going in to ME3, but I do understand BWs predicament, they messed up in ME2 by creating too many characters and romances, and the pressure of making ME3 accessible to new players meant that they had to lose some old ones. I see the reasons, I just (strongly) don't agree with them.

I'm glad I'm not the only one thinking this, lol.
He's a brilliant actor, and if there ever would be the possibility of a DA movie, I would definitely see him playing Solas. He is expressive, subtle and captivating, I think he would absolutely be brilliant.

Oh Maker NOOOOOO. I love Morrigan. Her sis-mance with my Amell is still one of my favorite video game relationships ever. They were such good friends, and Morrigan's friendship has such weight to it.
Though I'd still pick Solas. And then my Amell would have some angry words at the end of a fireball for my Lavellan.

The problem, of course, isn't just looks. It's that voice. There's no way we could cast the perfect Solas movie because there's no one with that deadly perfect combination...thank the Maker or no panties or hearts would be safe.
Just have Gareth David-Lloyd dub over the lines. BLAM. Panties everywhere.

I dunno, he's a pretty talented actor with a great voice. I bet he could pull off a Welsh accent.

Yeah, it would be a very tough one for many, can you imagine the tears! but I don't think it is likely, I can't imagine that neither of them are going to be plot important in future games so plot armor seems likely... I do think that Morrigan might be much more upset with Solas now that she knows more about her mother and her motives. Maybe there'll be a choice on who to support, that doesn't result in death... I'd like that I think. ![]()

I love James McAvoy but I really doubt he could pull of a welsh accent that would hold a candle to GDLs I support dubbing because he does look good as Solas ![]()

Shame Ryan Gosling wouldnt work. Or Christian Bale (he is even Welsh). Or Alexander Skarsgaard. because. yum. The have slim faces but something always doesn´t fit.
