The codex says some random Ferelden built the most recent version but... it doesn't really seem like something that could be built by a single person does it? And then, why? Why build a giant fort in the middle of some mountains if those mountains aren't a major military pass (they don't seem to be) or otherwise important to the crown (no evidence for that either).

I imagine Skyhold's isolation works well for the Inquisition though. It'd be pretty hard to march an army to conquer the keep. I haven't really figured out how they manage to feed themselves since the area around Skyhold doesn't exactly seem to be cultivatable but they also don't have latrines so magic I guess.

Beach would have been great, but maybe Solas was worried about his bald head getting sunburned?

The land around Skyhold seems to be pretty fertile.  Inky will mention that in the garden, and I assume there's more land to Skyhold than what we see (the Inquisition followers and horses and refugees have to be somewhere).  Bonny Sims mentions she's working pretty hard to make an isolated fort feel like a major city (and it's implied that the Keeps you capture are helping with trade).

It's sold out, you should make more. Then when a dlc with solas appears, have a bunch in stock instead of playing. Play later. Then buy yourself a nice dinner for a job well done.

Your business sense is so nice, Rabbit <33 I'm going to make two different versions I think. Black and White... I really like the way the white looks like real bone vs the black. I'll probably show them off later.

@Almasy87: I'm actually not too sure on what the shipping to Europe would be. Can you PM your zip code? I'm about to head out to ship out all my orders here in the next 30 minutes or so. I can check the price and get back to you.

So...this is totally random and out of context, but I promised I'd post any theories or interesting codexes to both threads.

http://dragonage.wik...try:_On_Skyhold

The original keep, as studied by the writer of the first entry in the Divine Age (post-Adraste, post-First Blight) was not only elven, but built in multiple elven styles throughout the centuries using materials from all over Elvhenan. Skyhold is also extremely isolated, which fits with the idea that the ancient elves used no roads, traveling mostly by way of eluvian. There was probably an eluvian in Tarasyl'an Tel'as during the time of Arlathan, which may or may not still be there (besides Morrigan's eluvian, that is).

Also, that writer in the Divine Age? He tried to rebuild the elven keep (the present keep is built in the Alamarri style) and was struck by lightning and killed. Like whoa. O.O That's not weird at aaaallllll. Did he just screw up construction? Did he need additional pylons???

According to Solas (who wrote the 4th entry) Skyhold attracts spirits to reenact the battles that took place. Clearly, something went down here.

I do hope we are further enlightened on Skyhold's history. It is definitely suggested that there is much we are not shown (of the place), and I like that idea of the dwarves being connected - possibly. It makes me think about Solas commenting rather cheerfully about the dwarven ruins you come upon, when heading into the caverns under Old Crestwood.

As for the lightning attack, it struck me as though Skyhold was "disapproving" of such alterations, or something.

Haha thank you~! I'll be making more this week and restocking my store on Monday more than likely.

I hand sculpted the master in polymer clay, then I made a mold in silicone that I've been using to cast the replicas in resin.

I hope you'll be making them a long time. My birthday is next month and I know what I'm buying with my birthday money!!

I have a headcanon that Skyhold has a spirit, or perhaps multiple spirits, who have inhabited it since the beginning.  It would make sense for a place of so much magic and history to draw the attention of spirits.  They've seen Skyhold change hands countless times, heroes rising and falling, and they remember each one.  Including Quizzy.

I'm from the South, it's a fine place...as long as you fit in. Sorry, couldn't resist the correlation. I'm a big fan of irony.

LOL!

I'm from the south too (if you mean the southern states).  :D

Anyways this discussion about Morrigan or Solas on who would be picked? I would always pick and save Solas.

But hopefully we won't have to do such a thing cause that's just crazy if you ask me.  -_-

I seem to remember several mentions that the Undercroft was built for a specific purpose that no one could figure. That basically it's this huge space that seems like it should be there for something since it sort of undermines the general structure of the building. Who knows if that was always around or a later addition though.

Wonder if the guy that got electrocuted got too close to something big? If Skyhold is holding the sky back, maybe building the spires in the original elvhen style messed with that in some way and temporarily weakened the Veil (or whatever exists there). Too much power with no where to go and bzzt....

If there were an eluvian under Skyhold I doubt Solas would just leave it and hope everything was OK. Unless he put up wards. Or unless the writers needed him to be ignorant I guess xD

The Undercroft is open to the air, and is mentioned to have been warped by incredible heat.

One theory I've seen is that a dragon lived there, possibly one of the Gods or their Chosen.

Well it works for a number of horror stories, so I can get behind that. :D

I do have this strange fascination with inanimate objects/things, that develop a "will", so to speak. But considering we have a built in concept of "thin veil", magic, fade, spirit and demons, well....those would probably make more sense, than a sentient building.

......and out of likes. Hate that. :P

At the very least a dragon could have roosted there when dragons were more prevalent. It's a nice little hidey-hole. Either way, Skyhold is a weird place and I hope we get some more insight about it.

Speaking of dwarves, now I'm gonna drop some dwarf theories on ya:

http://dragonage.wik...arven_Runecraft

The shaperate forges runes that contain "the memories", which include actual thoughts of the shapers (much in the same way veilfire runes can convey thoughts and emotions). The runes themselves are NOT a written language, and the few dozen that ARE known are only truly known by the shaperate.

"They are not, as many surface-folk believe, the written language of the modern dwarves, but rather are remnants of a lost language that predates Orzammar, the dwarven kingdom, and even the tens of thousands of years of history recorded in the Memories. "

AAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH! *dances frenetically*

So 10,000 years is only a minimum estimate for how long dwarves have been around! And that's not all. The memories in Orzammar may or may not be the oldest memories. After all, Kal-Sharok was the original capital of the Dwarven Empire. The move from Kal-Sharok to Orzammar occured about 6500 years after the founding of Arlathan, and about 1000 years before the first blight. It could be that the memories there are even older.

Also, remember Dagna's little lyrium trip? What she's seeing is a wall of memories on a Titan-sized scale. I'm not sure that the concept of "memories" isn't dwarven in origin. But I'm like 99.99% convinced that it's TITAN in origin.

Okay! Now that I officially beat the game last night (technically this morning), and I was dying the whole game cause I really wanted to romance Solas... NOW I CAN!!!!!!!!! Only thing is that I feel obligated to beat DAO (lost all my old save files) and DA2 (haven't actually played it) so I can have a custom world in DAI. So I'll have to wait for a bit. Small part of me wishes I'd known what the custom world thing was before I started. Elf would have probably fit a tad more my first play through with the default history vs my human history I will be using (I demand to be married to Alistair. I refuse to see him with Anora.. hate that chick <_<)

But YAY SOLAS LOVE!!!!!!!! *hugs everyone*

Um... this should probably be a time to point out I don't know what kinkmeme is and I thought I was gonna see a fic about a spirit inhabiting Skyhold... I suppose the "kink" part in kinkmeme should have given something away. ;_; I'm dumb.

*grabby hands!* And a LIKE.

Don't get my brain a-buzzing on Kal-Sharok. Really want to explore that place (both in-game, and in lore). I have spent a few days, over the past few years, getting completely lost in thought, over Kal Sharok. That WT mission regarding Kal-Sharok had me foaming for more. I am still fairly convinced that the dwarves of Kal-Sharok are bordering on another race, from the dwarves of Orzammar and the surface. Whether due to their exposure to the blight, thousands of years ago (and them not reacting exactly the same as those that come in contact with it now), or because they had always been somewhat different, and ages of isolation, invasion of things yet unheard of by those on the surface, further changed them.
