Not at all; the first time I got that line and after the very suggestive "Wake up" one with my Cullenmance Trevelyan, I though "This guy is hitting on me? Yes, yes he is." It could be my I-see-wuv-everywhere glasses, but with that pt I got the impression that Solas had a small crush on my Trev.

I already liked him but the moment he said "Wake up." I was like... "I'm romancin' that ****. Right. Now." Then I remembered I was a human and couldn't and made a sad face. But my next play through is gonna be an elf.

Question time: How did your Lavellan react to meeting Mythal/Flemeth in person, after the Temple? If they believed in the gods, was your Lavellan's faith renewed (omg, a god, she's real!!!!!) or shaken (we pray to her everyday- she could have helped us all this time and did nothing????) by that experience?
And then, did it have an impact on their choice to keep/remove their vallaslin (be it Mythal's or another god's)?

Also: Did they speak with Solas about meeting Mythal (pre break-up, I guess)? How do you think he reacted?

Hmm. I think prior to meeting Mythal, Solas had somewhat successfully shaken Yara's belief in the gods. She didn't completely kick the idea to the curb, but she was definitely starting to see her people from a more outside perspective. Seeing how easy it was for her to potentially manipulate the faith of seemingly thousands of humans, she began to fear such a thing being used against her.

My Lavellan has an intense, fearful desire to remain in control of her life.

But when they ran into Mythal, particularly because it was in the context of being Morrigan's mother...I'm not sure she knows what to think just yet. She may not entirely believe that it was Mythal. She probably planned to speak with Solas about it, but didn't quite know how to breach the subject. ['Ok, so he's an ancient elf. Does he not believe in the gods, orr...?'] Shortly after they returned the drama between them went down, so there's a very good possibility it never came up between them.

I would say Yara has a healthy respect for the gods, while not necessarily being subservient to them anymore. She rejects Sera's opinion that they are demons. She also opts to keep her vallaslin, due to what it meant for her to acquire it, and the fact that she thought she was challenging Solas on the off chance he thought of her has a slave.

When she does find out who Fen'Harel is, she will have a brief concern that he did shake her faith a lot. After all, that's basically what her Keeper told her would happen if she ever crossed paths with the Dread Wolf.

I've been thinking of a new Origins runthrough.

I'm torn between a Dwarf Noble and a City Elf/Dalish Elf.  :o

City Elf was my very first play though. Dwarf Noble was my last before my current replay for DA2 purposes... I never got to finish her due to getting a new PC and losing my saves in the process. But maaaaaaaaaaaan... such a depressing story arch. I cried. A lot. I felt SO BAD for my dwarf.

old response but..

I see the glitter is back. Can we now merge again?

The silent minority has spoken, and they felt there was too much smut and too frequent off topics. Either take the whole package or not at all.

I do that too.  I pick one person and that's the only one I romance on any playthroughs of that game.  DAI was the first time that changed for me.  I started playing a human female romancing Cullen but I kept wanting to flirt with Solas cause he was just awesome.  So I made myself finish the human playthrough all the while thinking I'm totally making a female elf next playthrough.  Then you know, the end so I really *had* to play a female elf to see if it actually changed the end at all, which sadly it didn't.  But now I can't NOT make a female elf to romance Solas.

Although I recently replayed DA2 - which took me far less time than I thought it would - and romanced Fenris instead of Anders.  I believe my reaction was something like:  Huh.  Wow.  Ok.  I'm thinking I should have romanced Fenris when I first played this game.  Yeah.  I should have.

Come to the elf side. I started off with an Alistair romance in DAO and got mad when he offered to "let" Tabris be his mistress after she put him on the throne. NOPE. Created a Cousland, romanced Zev and it's been all elves all the time for my main PTs. I do the other romances to see the other content but I've been lucky enough that Zev/Fenris/Merrill/Solas (OK not Sera) have been my favorite romances anyway!

But yeah...elven glory. We need a slogan.

No, actually I don't because I'm no Solasmancer. But I do know only going with Cullen every single playthrough. ;)

But why not? He's my guy, I've basically committed to him. I have no problem with that and I don't ever understand people who say "I must try so hard not to romance xyz because I wanted to try out abc". Why? Watch the cutscenes on YouTube and invest the gaming time in a romance you wish to follow. The game is a bit too long for me to put up with a different character only to check out the romance. Always Kaidan, always Alistair, always Fenris, always Cullen.

I am curious, do you play male or female characters? I play self-insert, so always female.

I wanted to weigh in on this. I believe there's a fuller experience when you play it yourself rather than watching someone else's Inquisitor on YouTube. For example, I'm in the middle of rolling a human to romance Cullen, it's gonna take a longass time, but to be able to see the scenes myself with my own character, with the work behind it making it feel more worthwhile than if I (for lack of a better word) cheat my way into seeing the scenes.

But I do RP my characters, as opposed to self-insert, so perhaps that's where it stems from.

Saying that, I do fall into one-romance PTs every time. I can't not romance Alistair, I can't not romance Garrus. Chances are once I've done my Cullenmance, I'll still stick with Solas. Part of the enthusiasm of replaying DA or ME over and over again is by romancing my favorites. (Edit: I'll even stick with the same character design and classes with replays, so it's not just romance. xD)

Edit again (I should get my brain in order before sending replies T_T): I think if I'd just watched Solas's romance on Youtube, I don't think I'd be nearly as interested in trying it. Going through the whole game with him makes it more enjoyable. On the other hand, if I hadn't seen gifs of Cullen's romance, I probably wouldn't have tried it. x)

The Warden does have to be the one to suggest being Alistair's mistress.  He'd rather break it off completely (because that man is too honourable sometimes...)

My Surana was fine with it.  But she prefers him staying a warden with her (until Here Lies the Abyss, I guess).

Also, Alistair counts as an elf romance.

*waveyhands* Since it's being talked about, is it possible to have Alistair remain a Grey Warden and have the Warden survive? I'll admit I'm replaying Origins purely to see if I can, because it refuses it on the Keep. Also, is it possible to have Loghain live and he kill the Archdemon wihout Alistair being executed?  (again something the Keep refuses to let me do)

As long as Alistair does the Dark Ritual then he'll live.

Spoiler

If the DR is performed then the Warden has to be the one to do killing blow.  So it's not possible to have Loghain live and kill the archdemon.  The Keep will automatically correct that to him dying.

EDIT: Alistair in this situation has to be made king (with Anora as his wife) or exiled.  He can't stay a warden.

It's been so long since I did that PT that I couldn't remember but you're right, she does have to suggest it. That ended up being my ultimate sacrifice run >.>

I refuse to accept Alistair into the elf club. I know he's elf-blooded but... if he were really an elf he wouldn't be king <.<

He's also Orlasian and he can be king!  And he's the son of a mage.

It's probably a very good thing Alistair remained a warden in my canon.  I don't think the nobles will be too happy if the 'half Orlasian, elf blooded son of a mage revolutionary' got out.

There's so much irony there. I hope that Loghain learns about Alistair being half-Orlesian when he dies. He's probably rolling in his grave when he realizes he let his daughter's husband die only to have her marry the son of his enemy xD

I had a hard time sorting out my Lavellan's feelings about Flemythal, and reeling over the Solas breakup didn't help.  Then I got her badass one-liner to Corypheus: "I don't believe in gods."

So that's that.  She's not like Sera, and she does believe that whatever she met in the Fade was in fact Mythal in some form.  And she was terrified of Flemythal.  But she no longer thinks that there's anything inherently special about gods.  They're just more powerful, but power does not make one worthy of worship or reverence.

The Keep did (and maybe still does) let you become Alistair's mistress while recuiting Loghain (which wasn't possible in the game).

Which is better than the 'me or him' line Alistair gives at the Landsmeet.

EDIT:

And no romance in DAO got treated as badly as the Alistair romance.  The only way to get a good ending is to have him perform the Dark Ritual.  And then DAI comes along and, whoops, you let Alistair stay a warden?  Well, he's either dead or vanished.

My memory is failing me again. If you're not romancing him and bring him along for the archdemon fight does he still sacrifice himself? Or is the only way for the Warden to live through the ritual or through romancing Alistair?

I think even if Lavellan still believes in the gods (I haven't decided) it's got to sting a little that Mythal has been around for thousands of years without so much as a "hey what's up" to the Dalish. Think of how much it'd clear up if she filled them in on some of the information that they have wrong. Makes me wonder (and really frustrated) about what she means when she says something like "you know not what you ask" to a Lavellan that questions why she's been silent for ages. Clearly the Dalish aren't doing great as is, so what awful thing does she know that could make their situation any worse? And will Solas get that understanding/reasoning now that he's absorbed some part of her? I have so many questions!!

Also, poor poor Alistair. When I finally made a male mage, I had Alistair become king, marry Anora, had him do the dark ritual and let Loghain live.  Alistair really hated my male warden.

He'll only sacrfice himself for a romanced Warden.  If he's not romanced then you'll get to choose before the killing of the archdemon triggers.

So...

Alistair!Romanced, No Ritual, Brought to the final fight: Alistair dies

Alistair not romanced, No Ritual, Brought to the final fight: Player's choice

Alistair!Romanced, Dark Ritual, Brought to the final fight: Warden will automatically do the killing blow

Alistair not Romanced, Dark Ritual, Brought to the final fight: Warden will automtically do the killing blow.
