Also, poor poor Alistair. When I finally made a male mage, I had Alistair become king, marry Anora, had him do the dark ritual and let Loghain live.  Alistair really hated my male warden.

 

Is that possible? I just re-did Origins and I let Loghain live... the Dark Ritual comes after Loghain becomes a warden so it ended up being Loghain that did the frick frack snick snack.

Hmm..I'm pretty sure..it was a couple years ago so I might be wrong. I really don't remember Loghain ever sleeping with Morrigan.

On topic (and likely to cause a hellspirial): Weekes was asked if Solas could be made Tranquil.  Apparently he can.  This does lend a lot of weight to the 'gods were just powerful mages' theory.

Hmm..I'm pretty sure..it was a couple years ago so I might be wrong. I really don't remember Loghain ever sleeping with Morrigan.

 

It was sort of strange. I haven't played that run through DAI yet so no idea how he feels about doing the ritual. He didn't seem to be too mad about it in Awakening though.

Wonder if Cole could be made tranquil? Cassandra said she was... so apparently it's possible with non-mages? Cole's definitely not a powerful mage, so knowing whether it's possible to sever the connection of a Spirit would help make that more clear.

Question time: How did your Lavellan react to meeting Mythal/Flemeth in person, after the Temple? If they believed in the gods, was your Lavellan's faith renewed (omg, a god, she's real!!!!!) or shaken (we pray to her everyday- she could have helped us all this time and did nothing????) by that experience?
And then, did it have an impact on their choice to keep/remove their vallaslin (be it Mythal's or another god's)?

Also: Did they speak with Solas about meeting Mythal (pre break-up, I guess)? How do you think he reacted?

 

For my Lavellan, she's not super religious but she did believe in her gods back when she was with her clan. But after all that she's learned about the elvhen gods from the Temple of Mythal, and then later on meeting Flemythal, her faith got a bit shaken. It made her uncomfortable knowing that these were the gods that her people worshiped all this time, and it is partly the reason why she chose to have her vallaslin removed (she had Mythal's vallaslin, interestingly enough).

I was sort of disappointed that the elf romance seemed so ordinary. I hadn't paid any attention to pre-release information so he just looked like some random bald mage. But since I always romance the elf on my first run, I was gonna stick with it. Then that scene hit and...

 

Now I'm stuck. Now I can't romance anyone else without it being an arduous journey with lots of visits to Solas hoping that he will suddenly open his heart to my Trev/Qunquisitor so I can dump Cullen/Josie/IB and fling myself into the egghead's arms. Alas...

Girl, I know dem feels.  I think we all do, actually... which is why we're here, in this thread, extending the life of our heartache.  YOLO, right?

 

The only way I have survived my Trev run, is by head-canoning that he secretly loves Kyiana, and that at Haven, he desperately fought the urge to smooch her face, only having his desire turned into side-long glances and lots of booty staring.  Trev's got dat bass, after all.  Despite having romanced Blackwall and now Cullen, she can't help but make very, VERY frequent stops into the rotunda to ask about, the Fade, or whatever...

I think even if Lavellan still believes in the gods (I haven't decided) it's got to sting a little that Mythal has been around for thousands of years without so much as a "hey what's up" to the Dalish. Think of how much it'd clear up if she filled them in on some of the information that they have wrong. Makes me wonder (and really frustrated) about what she means when she says something like "you know not what you ask" to a Lavellan that questions why she's been silent for ages. 

 

Ugh, this attitude.  OK, so maybe Lavellan's not immortal and magical and covered in glitter, but if one of you god-like jerkfaces would get off your high horse and EXPLAIN it to her, she'd understand?  Of course no one's going to know anything if you just keep it all to yourselves 

 

This attitude helped destroy what little remained of my Lavellan's belief in gods.  She believes they existed, and there's probably some truth to every myth.  But what's the point of worship if there's no response?  You can say it to Mother Giselle after Haven: it's time to start believing in this world.

I feel you. This is the single most frustrating aspect of DAI for me. At least Mythal doesn't turn up her nose at the Dalish like SOME OTHER ELVES (*coughsolascough*) but STILL. Here the elves are, thinking their gods left them because they did something wrong and if they just do the right magical things that the gods will come back (at least this is what Merrill says) and one of the gods IS TOTALLY CHILLING OUT in the woods. And she's not above using the Dalish to ensure her survival (Apparently she made an exchange for that but we're never told what it is). So what is this? What the heck is going on here that she can't be like, "Yo, I'm here but your ancestors murdered me and I'm not helping you anymore." Or "Hey I'm not really that powerful so I'd love to give you a hand but I can't really so good luck."

 

I don't know what happened with Solas. According to him, he tried to tell the Dalish some stuff, but who knows what it was or how he went about it. And why he won't tell Lavellan this stuff - when she seems totally open to it - is beyond me. Is it because he doesn't want her to worship him? Is it because he is afraid he'll reject him? Is he just being a snob? I don't know. No one tells Lavellan anything. I get that it's a necessity for the story - you couldn't tell JUST F!Lavellan's critical info - but come on. COME. ON.

I'm out of likes, and it's not even 10am.  *shakes fist to the forum heavens dramatically* I LIKE THIS.

 

I self-insterted with my Levellan, and I wanted so badly to say to Mythal, "Look, lady, cut the crap okay?  I'm an intelligent woman, who's capable of making informed decisions, I mean, I'm over here saving the world as a hobby, so do me a solid and stop turning my very direct questions into poetic riddles.  Aint NOBODY got time for dat."

 

Same for Solas.  Stop being dark and mysterious, as sexy as that is (and frustrating), so we can team up, like that motivational poster in my 7th grade guidance counselor's office said, and work together!

Part of it is the nature of the story.  But according to Weekes' interview, Solas was always one step from coming clean and telling Lavellan the truth.  Personally, I think he might just be afraid that either she'll reject him, or she just won't believe him.  It makes sense from his weird, warped Solas-y perspective.  He doesn't think of himself as a god, but she's been brought up to think of him not only as a god, but the most dangerous member of their pantheon.  And he doesn't know what's going on in Lavellan's head.

 

For the woman he loves to think of him differently, or treat him differently after she finds out who he is...I think that would just wreck him.
