Re Unicorns: It was in reference to the fact that the thread was really chill and the folks on it were pretty Bioware positive. He was also kind of poking fun. Public forum threads with low levels of drama read: harassment, massive trolling - nothing that has ocurred on this thread - is rare. Feel free to visit the rest of the BSN - it's a cesspit in places.
What's happening now is that a few people are being targeted by censorious prigs who can't take a joke that's not aimed at anyone other than a pixel boyfriend. So now the thread has mods all over it because somebody complained they felt they were being personlly targeted by SFW art. Which is ludicrous because we don't know eachother, and how anyone can take a few pictures of solas rocking back and forth with the word "creeper" personally is bananas. Just ignore it. Or draw your own fluffy art. This is the internet folks - grow a pair or perish.
For the record. I'm glad the velociraptor Solas' survived the post purging.

i looked at the date, and it was in 30 July 2014. before anyone knew what solas was like. that definitely tells you alot since i heard people were viewed as nicer before content was released.

Perhaps the positive connotation of the word "unicorn" would hold more water if the thread contained more of these much rarer creatures Mr. Gaider refers to in the very same post: "reasonable folk." Not to say that none of you are reasonable, or that you're all unicorns, or that all unicorns are bad.
What I am saying is how disappointed I am that talking over our differences like reasonable adults is no longer an option. You don't get to ask a third party to moderate for you in real life. You ignore it or you talk about it, because that's what people do. We should be adult enough to police ourselves, right? When an awesome person like Capricorn gets in trouble just for posting nice art to support great artists and show love, that's when you know things are getting out of hand. Plus, all of the jokes of last night were 100% harmless (hint: meant in good humor for everyone to enjoy). Furthermore, they were funny. And I'm here to have fun, not to get irritated enough to feel like I need to say this sort of thing.

To those who might must understand, she means those who equal purity to be the same as virginity. Like if you lose your virginity, you are no longer pure of heart. Your virginity does not define your good actions. And also, the fact that unicorns will only approach virgin maidens and sleep on their laps.

A pretty long while, like half the page count existence of the thread ago. Unicorns are generally referred to people too delicate and pure to glance at smut or other depictions of sexuality. Pretty much prunes, yeah. party poopers. It's generally said negatively, at least by me.
Another less known term are Dalish Princesses. It's a sort of ironic joke because the trope of princesses are damsels in distress but dalish are tough, hardy people and the non-existence of a princess in their clan based system.
edit: I believe the dalish princess was a response to those wishing for far-fetch happy ending. Not like solas will see you again, but "you will live happily with solas forever and be a god with him" kind of happy ending. But could be cross-referenced to the same meaning as unicorns. I forget. Take these definitions with a grain of sand.

I don't view it as the current opinion, maybe when it happened before the game release but not now. That gaider comment was on july 30th, 3 months before DAI came out.
edit: I view the unicorns as violent narcissistic creatures who would kill horses if they could. Watch the elder scrolls, or the documentary Supernatural.

This is purely theoretical on my half, so I could be wrong, but I was thinking about this and looking back to the posts just before the warning came and it was, as you say, gifs and pictures of punk rock(I don't know the genre, guys with big hair and makeup). A mod isn't going to have time to sift through all the posts and read the reasonings behind them all, they're just going to see the pictures and say "Off-topic". Even though those who were posting them weren't being off-topic (it was regarding glitterotica, right? Elven pantheon anyway, still technically on-topic).
If what I think is true, it's still unfair, but understandable.
Also I was going back through the mods comments after I saw the warning, and it seems the Blackwall thread recieved a similar warning. What this could mean, I don't know however. Just thought I'd share. It's painfully obvious we are being watched.
