I don't view it as the current opinion, maybe when it happened before the game release but not now. That gaider comment was on july 30th, 3 months before DAI came out. 

 

edit: I view the unicorns as violent narcissistic creatures who would kill horses if they could. Watch the elder scrolls, or the documentary Supernatural.

What exactly constitutes spamming? I totally understand if too many .gifs were causing a problem, but the terms "spam" and "off-topic" were used by the moderator. So. I am curious. Because they could have easily have said TOO MANY .gifs! I'm drowning!! And that would've been fine. Understandable. Easily done. 

 

What is NSFW? What constitutes spamming? What is love?

 

Also, to add to the "unicorn" definition, the term also carries with it the sense that purity=virginity, which, frankly creeps me out. NOPE. Flemyth disapproves.

To give people an idea on how harsh BSN's spam rules are/were, we could rarely have a meta conversation like this for several pages without getting a thread locked in the old days. When I came back around the launch of DA:I, you can even find me having a nam flashback about off topic conversations. It just wasn't something that we were able to do.

 

This is why BSN is famous for some absolutely insane posts, such as Tali's sweat and 'would Tali like anal.' When people can only talk about one thing, madness sets in. 

 

There's definitely an element of bullying going on as far as reporting SFW content. Hopefully the people who are abusing the feature will eventually get noted for it. The rest is business as usual BSN. Its just likely the mods aren't watching non-problem threads.

I don't know that the Dalish claim to actually be descended from the nobility of the Dales.  I'm not sure we really have much of an idea of the political structure of the Dales.  Keepers in the time of the Dales were, yes, keepers of lore and history and did spend much of their time trying to recreate or uncover the past.  The Dragon Age Wiki says that the Keepers claim to be descended from the nobility of the Dales but I see no citation at all backing that up.  It also seems unlikely as, from what I can recall, the Dalish choose their Keepers based on magical ability not bloodline.

 

And yeah an oral tradition is probably the worst way to try to keep records.  Each person it's taught to will put their own interpretation on it in the retelling and things get changed over time no matter how hard you try .. it's kind of like a long lasting Whisper Down the Lane game.  Writing is better though that can still be interpreted differently.

Totally disagree on that last part. The Celts as well as many other ancient societies, had no written language and all their history and tales were transmitted orally. It took time and years of training so that each teller apparently repeated the story exactly the same.

it was only once they became more disparate and that great tradition was lost that tales became more fragmented and altered.

In fact, one anthropologist (can't remember his name, it'll come to me later...) claims that in some small tribes, stories that they tell, that they themselves don't even understand as they are soooooo ancient. But they re-tell them exactly the same way to maintain that link and knowledge.

You're right we do. And that's honestly why we are as upset as you are that the censorship of both last night and the past THREE WEEKS has been a thing. Part of "being nice" and "being chill" is accepting varieties of opinion, being able to take a joke, and letting stuff that doesn't interest you roll right off your shoulders. Not getting offended, demanding that only your ball is recess appropriate, and all others unfit for even discussion or viewing.

We're still here. You know why? Because we actually care about this thread. Enough to voice our disappointment and desire for change into something more accepting, open, and yes, as you said "nice" and "chill." The atmosphere of the past three weeks had been downright hostile and passive agressive.

I, as well as many others, want that to change into something positive where we can post what we want safely without warnings, moderation, and censorship. The vice grip this drive-by, vengeful reporter has had on this thread has led to nothing but escalation and purposeful shaming. We want that to stop and do what adults do - utilize the scroll button when things don't froth your cappuccino.
