....
So, is this confirming what some of us are thinking? That he has feelings feelings for her?
Plz no...
I think it's telling that the quote was that Solas has strong feelings on Mythal. Not for. If you were talking about a romantic relationship, I'm pretty sure you'd say that the person has feelings for someone, rather than on. Having strong feelings on something or someone can mean a lot of things. I have strong feelings on Canada's Prime Minster, for instance, and they are most certainly not good feelings. Hahah. But feelings can be complex, so I doubt it's some kind of black and white situation with Solas. It rarely is.
That being said, I wouldn't be completely horrified if we learned that Solas/Mythal had some form of romantic relationship in the past, and he still harboured some kind of feeling for her. BUT, I would be surprised if they went that route, and do feel like it's kind of lazy writing, and personally feel the whole thing would be way better if it was more of a mother/son, mentor/student dynamic, with great mutual respect, perhaps bordering on reverence on Solas' part. Guess we'll see!
Really though, Solas always seemed like the type of guy that matched better with some young cutesy elf, not really badasses. I don't think he could handle a woman with strong opinions of her own, lol.
I disagree. I think Solas would match best with a partner who he sees as equal. In order for Solas to see someone has equal, I feel they'd have to have a hefty intellect and a broad mind, or at the very least an intense curiosity and desire to learn, coupled with a desire to do what's right. And those who think deeply often form strong opinions on various matters, which I think Solas could understand and appreciate. What's more important is having the wisdom to acknowledge incorrect conclusions and be open to new ideas.
In his balcony scene he talks about the wisdom the inquisitor shows, which impresses him greatly. I don't see a young, cutesy elf embodying this for him. Unless she was wise far beyond her years. But then that kind of goes against the whole young, cutesy stereotype. I could see him being matched well with a young, cutesy elf if she were wise beyond her years, however. It just doesn't strike me as the most appropriate scenario.
This is part of why the halla and the wolf shtick throws me off. No. No thank you. My Lavellan is a ****** bad ass, a bloody bear disguised in a little elf woman's body, who could figuratively tear Solas to shreds (if she were evil and had the inclination), and Solas was all over that.
But I suppose this is kind of headcanon territory, so nobody's really wrong.
I seem to have rambled. Carry on!
