Did we ever discuss Miltonian Satan Solas in this thread? I know it was actually discussed in the pantheon thread, but once things die down here, if it hasn't been brought up, I'd love to see other opinions on Dread Cormorant Solas.

it was kind of a weirdly intimate face stroking between solas and flemythal, was a little jealous but then he kills her so eh

 

was more worried about him and the spirit of wisdom. solas never really gives blackwall a straight answer about doing the do with spirits, iron bull kind of teases him about it, his post mission banter with cole says something about "in his own way he knew wisdom as no man or spirit before"

 

like did we only get to romance him after we mercy killed his ex girlfriend?

 

Now that is an effing good question... I would say, knowing the guy, no, but that he and wisdom were involved some way... Definitely. Why would an intellectual not want to court wisdom (and lay her)... Thing is, wisdom belongs to no one man or woman... So yes, he may have "shared" with wisdom but wisdom was never his in the way Lavellan could have been.

First off I don't go around to other people's fan thread and spew hate on their favorite character and don't give me that  "using words where their meaning don't ring true" bs...when you talk negative about someone's favorite character that's exactly what you are doing.

 

I'm not saying people don't have a right to be angry at Solas but constantly coming in here to do that and gushing over someone else for 20 pages long is getting annoying.

You don't like what's being said? That's fine. Everybody is entitled to an opinion. You can even type it down and share it with everybody else on the thread. Discourse (so long as it's kept respectful) is good. Solas is a complex character, and it follows that our feelings about him would be equally diverse and complex. 

 

Reporting, censoring, and drawing moderator attention is not the answer. 

 

And it's happened not once, but twice now. Both times in response to SFW (but ribald) humor. That's the source of my resentment; the fear that if I express an opinion that somebody dislikes, that person is going to go crying to a mod and hit me with the censor bat.

No Solas it's been like this for a month or two and I'm getting (and I know I'm not the only one) tired of the Solas bashing in here. The guy isn't perfect I know but it's been constant and as you can see it's ran some old fans off (or they hardly come in here anymore) and I'm fixing to become one of them.

 

 

Also I am not the one that reported to the mod I'm just being open about what I think of this thread.

Though IMO the huge approval hits you get from the mage/templar decisions are a pain in the ass because they come so early in the game.  You've just met these people, but it's very possible to get no content from them for a long time because you did literally ONE thing they didn't like.  I ran into that problem with Cass in my first game (conscripting the templars, didn't get her personal quest until just before the Temple of Mythal) and Vivienne in my current game (allying with the rebel mages).

 

You should get Cass' 'hunt down these people, kthxbai' quest pretty early at Skyhold.  Killing each target with her in the party gives you one Cassandra Greatly Approves and one Cassandra Approves each time.  And there's five targets.

 

Viv... yeah.  I have no idea how to get that woman's approval up going full pro-mage.  She likes my Adaar, though.

For me the Solas wisdom thing is tied to this sort of stuff.. yes I know that's speculative and fuzzy but the point is I think it's to do with his motives and wisdom/pride as his major character themes/motifs etc (feel me?) rather than any sort of romantic involvement with his friend Wisdom

I'm sorry...I didn't mean to make more drama, I really am.  I just don't like being accused of things that I haven't done. Usually people should expect to reap what they sow. I'm not taking this drama any further because it's stupid.

Weird.  Did you tank his approval with the mage/templar decision or the Wardens decision?  I had high approval from him for those choices, so I could take approval hits here and there.

It was the templar/mage thing I believe. I conscripted the mages. When I agreed with stuff he said, it was enough to have him still like me, but without that.. pfffllff, right down the toilet, though not enough to get that punch Solas scene. Still never got that.

 

The disposition system is annoying indeed, but it's the reason why people get two sides of Solas. It's natural though, nobody's going to be completely okay with someone disagreeing with something so important to you as spirits and their nature is to Solas. These disagreements whether we like it or not do color how we see people sometimes.

I was mostly lazy about the "Kill people/collect things" companion quests. I didn't even finish most of them until after Halamshiral. And I think my Lavellan also managed to ****** off Cass at every turn with her insistence that the Herald thing was a pile of nug poo  They eventually wound up being friends though.

 

I'm just resigned to not getting any Viv content this pro-mage playthrough.  My Adaar is not enough of a jerkwad to get her full disapproval conversation, so she's just going to passive-aggressively judge him from her balcony or something ><  Does anyone know if there's a save editor where we can tweak approval?
