Eww can you imagine ? Mythal as mother in law and Morrigan as sister in law ?
And my awful warden as a brother in law!
Morrigan suffering intensifies.
Eww can you imagine ? Mythal as mother in law and Morrigan as sister in law ?
BEST THING EVER
Morrigan was already my sister in another life (Warden best friend) and Flemeth is total MIL material
Hypothetical scenario/character question for the thread that I thought of the other day but forgot to post:
Which is more important to your Lavellan - Solas, or elves as a whole?
No right or wrong answer, just interested in everyones' characterizations.
Generally... I'd say elves, and even more specifically her family. But she considers Solas to be within that sphere, so the level of importance is practically the same to her. If we're talking about what she'd choose in a Solas or modern elves scenario... I'm really not sure. I imagine it would depend on the details. I've always thought it would be interesting to see if she could be kinda "corrupted", but based on what she's done so far, I don't know if she would choose her love over the well-being of others. If the situation was grey enough, and Solas managed to sell her on it, perhaps. It's definitely one of those things I can't really predict until it happens.
And I have another question.
We know Solas's drive is to save the elves.
Let's assume hypothetically that the specifics of this do NOT involve unlocking the mirror and waking/unleashing the banished slumbering elven gods.
If not this, what do you think it could be? I'm interested in alternative ideas.
Making all elves mages
I'd assume it has something to do with the blight and the Old Gods. One of the few things that got Solas sincerely pissed was the Gray Wardens and their behavior.
yeah what is the deal with his hate boner for wardens
Eww can you imagine ? Mythal as mother in law and Morrigan as sister in law ?
morrigan was my warden's sister from another mister, this sounds rad.

Yeah if not releasing the pantheon then definitely something to do with the blight and the archdemons.
So the moderators really care for context? I've seen other sfw being banned. It's just that nobody remembers, heck I don't, it was a while ago.Just my thoughts on this last one. I chuckled. But, its also a bit passive aggressive. It has nothing to do with Solas- and everything to do about making a comment about certain people's feelings. I get why people might feel justified in making it. But I also get why that sort of attitude might rankle people.
I don't think it should be banned or anything. But this is the sort of thing that is perpetuating the drama. Things will continue to be awful if both sides keep poking each other with sticks.

Solas
Kill everyone but leave Solas for my Lavellan ![]()
Everyone is in depth and I'm just like, "not Solas."
But yes, it depends on the context. I took it as "who would she save if she had to choose." If it wasn't life or death, it would still depend on context, but Solas wouldn't be as easily pushed aside.
Yeah that's what I meant. She's not going to sacrifice thousands of people for a guy but when it comes down to it the "elves" are an abstract group of people and Solas is real and means something to her. My canon Lavellan has no clan, and very few close elven friends at the moment (she's certainly not chummy with Sera). It's not like the elves aren't important but there's a difference there...
Like if you were to ask me if I'd "choose" my partner or my country. I wouldn't let my country burn to save my partner, but I probably wouldn't turn him in if he skimped on his taxes or something. Sure, losing some tax money isn't really great for my country, but it's not going to tear down the government either (this is a hypothetical scenario... my partner is not even a citizen of my country so leave me alone IRS).
i liked sera's "drop em and rebuild the empire" idea
like rabbits, they can outbreed the shems
I'd pay for this DLC.

Depends on what elves are we talking about. I have headcanoned my Darel as a city elf who had to adjust to the Dalish life, but she was always called flat ears and couldn't wait to be away from those snobby. So she wasn't very sad about them being slaughtered (first run). She was more sad for the City Elves that couldn't be helped anymore. So if the elves are only Dalish...well, bye bye. With Solas she goes, to help ancient elves like Abelas and the City Elves.
She would find City Elves more importnat than Solas, but only barely.
old post but i've been suspicious off what gets reported. Everything below is kind of nsfw.

What constitutes
A: Content too scandalous that it warrants banning and a warning? Where is the line there?
B: "Spamming" (Yes, I'm asking again.)
Also:
C: Who is the arbiter of when exactly conversations get too "off-topic?" Is it content that one doesn't like, and thus off-topic?
And there really wasn't 20 pages about the Din or Babelas (although there could have been because glorious). I seem to remember pages about make-up and no one said a thing.
Alright, here's a bowl of elfroot. Let out the feels. And let's sit down.
Solas bashing =/= honest character critique. The analysis that went on for several pages about whether or not he was a liar (he is - just not a very good one and much of it is out of self-preservation and self-interest). That was a good discussion. Not character bashing. It was looking at the facts. A variety of opinions were ushered. None of them wrong. Some people took that discussion poorly and saw it as a character attack. It wasn't. Sometimes the truth or what people perceive about us or each other hurts or is wrong. But that's the way the cookie crumbles. We're not perfect people all the time and Solas certainly isn't either.
Solas bashing =/= literary analysis comparison. The parallels between Miltonian Satan Solas set this thread on fire about two months ago. It was meant to help add to the discussion of the character, archetypes of rebels who turn against their God or Gods, and fail to achieve that they had originally sought out to accomplish. There's a reason comparative literature exists in MANY levels of education, especially amongst higher institutions of learning, and there are even masters and Ph.D. level degrees in this field of study. Comparison, analysis, allusion, metaphor all help people understand things by offering similarities and differences between them. I know Solas is not Nicholas Cage because Nicholas Cage has hair. But, like Nicholas Cage, Solas has a round head and pointy chin. They both have light eyes. But are they one and the same? Clearly no. Are both men capable of inciting internet fury? As we've witnessed these past... two months according your timeline, the answer is unabashedly yes.
Solas bashing =/= satire, comedy, or ribald humor. As I stated earlier today, tragedy and comedy are one and the same given enough time and distance. Distance can be either physical, emotional, or mental. It is being able to look at something in a different way in order to understand, cope, or deal with a fact, situation, or person. Being able to laugh at one's self, their interests, and even whom they date is generally a good natured trait. Likewise, it is similar to the literary analysis issue - being able to see things from multiple perspectives and allowing humor to color the viewpoint. It connects ideas in ways that might not be readily visible. Likewise, comedy, humor, satire, dirty jokes and the like are all ways to get people to laugh. To have fun. To heal. To live and let live. It's a normal, healthy response.

I know Solas ain't perfect and people are upset with him cause their Lavellan's got dumped but I don't think their story is over it's like some people are giving up and jumping on the "let's hate Solas train" also this isn't a let's talk trash on Solas for 15 pages long thread nor a let's talk about how Awesome Abelas/Falon din is for 20 to 30 pages long thread.
I'm fine with the theories that people talk about in here(except comparing Solas to Satan) and the art (not all of the art though like the glitter and Solas's head being a dinosaur) but the hate has been growing in here. I've been fine with the jokes and the discussions about Solas's faults. I had no problem with that it just has been getting worse in here.
I want every body to get along in here and my first post today I said it nicely cause that's how I wanted it to be...nice but then comes the people with fangs "Oh no some one doesn't like our hatin on Solas, she's got to be the one that told the mod!!!" now I'm not in a very good mood.
I get some of you want to punch the guy or kill him but to have pages and pages of it...is very depressing and just makes me want to leave.
Also...

I may have a guilty-pleasure AU where Solas & Lavellan have twin daughters and one of them marries Kieran (when they're both of age, obviously). Most awkward family dinners ever.
It was the electricity between my fingers and the keyboard, the keyboard and my computer, my computer and the internet, and finally - the internet and you. All of them led me to touch your heart. One to one.
In all truth, I have no clue. But their bromance in the first Star Trek film gave me feels. The second one, not so much (reversal of character development for Spock was.. disappointing to say the least). But ughh the first film. Even with all of its lens flares I love it.
Oh god yes!!! My husband was a trekkie and I always quite liked it but I never thought it would be me dragging him to see the same movie three times...
You live. You learn.
Neither. She cares for Solas, but her loyalty right now isn't with him or the elves. Both let her down.
What's most important to her right now is the Inquisition, her friends and most importantly, HERSELF.
Making all elves mages
that's actually a pretty good idea! or possibly a really harmful one? so yeah, sounds like something solas would be down with.
There needs to be an art war
this is the only good way to fight, just silently throw fanart at each other
Solas
Kill everyone but leave Solas for my Lavellan
high-five for honesty! sorry oppressed unwashed masses, maybe i'll save you next PT
I'd pay for this DLC.
I am so ready for any dlc at this point, like please just MORE

Hey now. Don't drag me into this. Glitter is kind of makeup. So it kind of relates.

That is unfortunately a question I don't know the answer to. When you click report, you can state why. Someone may have written why they reported said image. For all we know, mods may follow this thread on their off time or on other accounts.
All someone would need to do is say: 'this image makes me feel bullied because of such and such reason'. Ship off to mod. Mod is not going to conduct an investigation, its just easier to remove it.
That said, to the ghost person reporting: flagging their posts for unexplained reasons solves nothing. All the mod is going to do is just push it under a rug, or worse, lock the thread. Mods are not going to swoop in and preform an intervention.

Also pages about people's pets. (They're all adorable!)
Also, does anybody wanna dig up an actual quote for the whole "hate on Solas fest" that has supposedly been going on? I've been looking through my posts and somehow I don't actually see any. Imagine that.
on the subject of AUs, what are your fav Solas AUs? ![]()
Neither. She cares for Solas, but her loyalty right now isn't with him or the elves. Both let her down.
What's most important to her right now is the Inquisition, her friends and most importantly, HERSELF.
Same with mine. She's so not down with the Herald of Andraste thing, but on some level she stood for all of southern Thedas during the war with Corypheus. Regardless of race, social class, or magic. She cares about the elves and still loves her clan and family, but I think there's a fair bit of "You can never go home again." She is Inquisitor now; that's her primary identity, and she's learned to embrace it on behalf of everyone, not just the elves.
My Lavellan is definitely too predatory to be a halla. Although I don't mind the visual symbolism of people who do choose to use it as their Lavellan's totem- it is a pretty cool animal. The stag is not necessarily a humble creature.
But I imagine my Lavellan would be more akin to a fox. Another trickster, another predator. She is smaller and perhaps goes undetected by the other forest greats- but she's always watching. Woe be to those who underestimate her.
Same here, and yeah, I should clarify that I have no problem with those who choose the halla as a symbolic representation for their Lavellan. They're highly intelligent, beautiful, agile and strong. When I refer to the halla and the wolf thing, I mean it in the metaphorical sense, to symbolize a predator/prey relationship with Solas/Lavellan. That romanticized concept does not compute, for me.
Fox--nice! Though I said my Lavellan was like a bear in a little Dalish woman's body, I'd probably pick something like a coyote as an actual totem for her, for similar reasons that you've picked the fox. Or maybe a wolverine. Or an ermine.
... Part of me wants to say honey badger.
I also like the idea of Lavellan being like particular birds. :3
For my Lavellan, I went with wolf, mostly because that's what the artwork of the Dalish hunter card was shown as. xD
<snip>
*Lavellan name-twin fist bump* That's why I picked my Tala's name. ;D
<snip>
This thread seems to be seeing threats from hypothetical Solas ex-girlfriends from all corners this evening
Relax folks lol
The much creepier concept to me is the idea of a virginal Solas. Pretty sure a heterosexual man who's lived for thousands of years will have had sexual relationships with multiple women, and I see that as a normal, healthy behaviour. Certainly nothing to be upset about, or feel jealous over. Sexual expression is biologically healthy and normal, after all. What matters is he's not banging any other elf ladies while he's with Lavellan. Unless that's part of your headcanon fantasy. Then, have at it. ![]()
Back in the day this thread would have gotten locked about 20 times by now. People complain about the mean old censoring mods on here but it used to be MUCH worse and the mods were a lot stricter. Heck, in this case after someone reported something once it's possible that they kept keeping an eye on the thread and deleting things that fell along the lines of the original complaint. I wouldn't start swinging for some kind of conspiracy.
Just talk about Solas and you won't have to worry about it, I suppose.
