on the subject of AUs, what are your fav Solas AUs?

I have a thing for Professor Solas. Because reasons.

I really like philosophy major college freshman Solas, who talks quite a bit about Nietzsche and Heidegger and how you can't step in the same river twice. He wears a lot of black and drinks a lot of coffee, not because he particularly likes the taste, but he knows that women find it attractive.

That is unfortunately a question I don't know the answer to. When you click report, you can state why. Someone may have written why they reported said image. For all we know, mods may follow this thread on their off time or on other accounts. 
 
All someone would need to do is say: 'this image makes me feel bullied because of such and such reason'. Ship off to mod. Mod is not going to conduct an investigation, its just easier to remove it. 
 
That said, to the ghost person reporting: flagging their posts for unexplained reasons solves nothing. All the mod is going to do is just push it under a rug, or worse, lock the thread. Mods are not going to swoop in and preform an intervention.

That... that doesn't sound like the moderating i'm used to. Sounds very dangerous. BSN is weird.

I will confess to secretly plotting out an AU set in the destroyed world of Redcliffe. What if Dorian and the Inquisitor could never go back? I wonder about these things. 

 

AUs that I have read...there's a couple of really nice back in Arlathan fics that do some fun world building. Also have been enjoying 'Tranquility', which has some templars attempt to make Solas tranquil and it backfires on them.

I know Solas ain't perfect and people are upset with him cause their Lavellan's got dumped but I don't think their story is over it's like every body is giving up and jumping on the "let's hate Solas train" also this isn't a let's talk trash on Solas for 15 pages long thread nor a let's talk about how Awesome Abelas/Falon din is for 20 to 30 pages long thread.

 

 

I'm fine with the theories that people talk about in here(except comparing Solas to Satan) and the art (not all of the art though like the glitter and Solas's head being a dinosaur) but the hate has been growing in here. I've been fine with the jokes and the discussions about Solas's faults. I had no problem with that it just has been getting worse in here.

 

I want every body to get along in here and my first post today I said it nicely cause that's how I wanted it to be...nice but then comes the people with fangs "Oh no some one doesn't like our hatin on Solas,she's got to be the one that told the mod!!!" now I'm not in a very good mood.

 

I get some of you want to punch the guy or kill him but to have pages and pages of it...is very depressing and just makes me want to leave.

First, people aren't upset with Solas, because Solas is a character. They might be having a go at the character, using rhetorical tools like varieties of humor in their discussions. But no one thinks Solas is garbage, because he is a pixel man. One can certainly get emotionally invested in the story, certainly, but ascribing emotions like "hate?" Nope.

Also, be prepared to demonstrate that what was being said about Solas was said with ill intent. (Also, the Din can not be contained, just a fact; glory thighs cannot be quelled).

 

Again. . . .no one HATES Solas with the fire of a thousand suns. He is a character. We enjoy discussing him. 

 

No one barred their fangs. Also, weren't  fangs a side-benefit or something? 

 

 I don't want to kill Solas, my Lavellan does. Nota bene: Not because of the break-up, she simply wants to absorb his power. So.

And there really wasn't 20 pages about the Din or Babelas (although there could have been because glorious). I seem to remember pages about make-up and no one said a thing. 

 

In light of this point then, I want to apologize, and retract my earlier statement that I'm glad Glitterotica got its own thread (in essence at least, although I've been regretting that too, because I do miss not having many of the regulars about).

 

I remember the makeup talk, and it didn't interest me so I zoned it out and didn't bother interacting until the topic came back to something I did like, but on the other hand with Glitterotica surfacing and it grating against my personal tastes, I was annoyed with it and wanted to see it gone.

 

I don't think I was too outspoken about my dislike about for it (at least I hope I wasn't), but if I have I'm sorry, and I'm sorry if I caused anyone distress with it.

I have a Shadowrun AU percolating through my brain right now.  It works surprisingly well.  Fantasy, magic, cyberpunk, ancient elves, crazy Great Dragons, horrible beasties from beyond...  Also it's fun to imagine the Harlequin trolling poor Solas.

 

I also have an AU lightly inspired by Empress, with Lavellan as Fen'Harel's queen in a reborn elvhen empire.  Though that one has taken on a strange life of its own, and I'm afraid to post it.

Re: reported posts, we just can't control that. It may be someone who posts regularly, a lurker, or as someone said some pages ago, someone who just stepped in or a troll. There is no way to know, and there's no way to stop it. And I don't think whomever did it is going to speak up now if they didn't do so before. Sadly, if someone wants to report a post, however unreasonable the reporting is, he/she will. And I honestly think nothing can be gained from constantly wondering and bringing up the subject. Not that I'm telling you not to, of course anyone may speak of whatever they want, but I just think it's better if we just drop the subject.

Back in the day this thread would have gotten locked about 20 times by now. People complain about the mean old censoring mods on here but it used to be MUCH worse and the mods were a lot stricter. Heck, in this case after someone reported something once it's possible that they kept keeping an eye on the thread and deleting things that fell along the lines of the original complaint. I wouldn't start swinging for some kind of conspiracy.
 
Just talk about Solas and you won't have to worry about it, I suppose.

mmm.. solas is cool but.. I rather move to a brooder thread. You've seen threads that only talk about the intended character, right?

Nah, I don't remember you saying anything on the subject until the new thread was made. 

 

Now I'm curious. Got any pantheon (Fen'Harel included) headcanons you'd care to share? I'm not being passive-agressive here. I'd genuinely like to know/have a civil discussion on the subject.

People are not going to post around what your acceptable levels of conversation are.

People will post what they want. If you choose to be offended by it, you can certainly speak up, but you can not expect them to care, or change, for you. But that's basically true everywhere in the whole world.

 

I don't like redheads. They are basically evil.  But I don't expect all the redheads to vacate the thread just because they are creepy and make me uncomfortable.
