Omg just skimmed a million pages and you guys are THE BEST OMG. Holy **** I'm fangirling SO HARD right now... Please be real, oh please be real...

Wow, I leave for an appointment and come back to lots of wonderful information and some of it very hopeful! Thank you for those asking the questions and then making sure we got the answers as well. That was awesome. 

 

As far as the current never-ending romance debate , I think I am still in the Vivienne may not be a option category. 

 

Of all the announce romances, Cullen makes sense as being race gated against Qunari and Dwarves. (keeping in mind this is based on comments he has made in other games and yes, they could have him grow as a character) He is also straight. 

 

Iron Bull, pan sexual was originally thought to be gated due to size which would mean available to Qunari but not Dwarves. Thanks to John, that didn't happen but that would be factored into the selection at the beginning. 

 

Varric as straight and for Dwarves only would off balance Cullen and maybe Iron Bull(if he had stayed gated) but that would mean female Qunari would have one choice. Enter Solas ungated who give choices for both Qunari and Dwarves. 

 

The gay options are non-gated as well as all the female interests. 

 

This means a gender imbalance but it also means that not all of the females were created with the perception that they are only meant to be girlfriends.  This could be a touchy point and the apparent imbalance may also be why they haven't announce the last two option. 

 

Just my opinion and while I am dancing in my house while reminding myself it is not a true confirmation, it does feel hopeful.

It's difficult not to have my hopes up. I mean, I remember back before Iron Bull was confirmed a romance and they backtracked on that tweet about the romance only to confirm it, later. It just seems more and more possible. He gets cooler sounding with every heavy breath the fans make. C'mon, Bioware! You put a big juicy elf steak and dangle it's greatness in front of us and expects us not to want a piece of that?

 

If not an LI, at least give us a few opportunities to try (oh, and believe me, I will try) like they did with Varric.

 

 

Either way, he's quickly becoming the guy who never leaves my party.

Silly useless fact for the day: Indira was also originally in Torchwood. So three Torchwood alums have made it into the DA franchise. Eve Myles, GDL, and Indira. No real point to this........

(my money is still on her being the voice of Viv....could be wrong, but I suspect it.)

GDL's tweets gave me a lot of hope that Solas would be an LI. I feel like he would have known it would get people's hopes up worded that way and I think he might have just avoided the question if there was no good way to address it. It's not confirmation, but I think it's a strong hint that Solas has good chances.

 

I know they said things may not be even, but I also remember at least twice David Gaider asked us to give them the benefit of the doubt concerning distribution. I'm going to give them that for now and lean towards thinking they are going to give everyone equal options outside race gating. I think it will be Solas/Vivienne in the end. I do feel bad for the Varric thread and there are a lot of awesome people over there that I'll be sad to see let down, but I feel like equal options is the more important thing right now than a specific LI getting in. I mean, everyone has fans and some people will be disappointed, no matter. If it were me, I'd rather lose my favorite if it meant a point for equality, especially considering lesbians are getting half as many options as straight women without Viv. I know I've seen a few of the Varricmancers say they felt the same about the distribution issue, if it comes down to that.

I /knew/ I recognized her! I didn't bother checking to see what I knew her from... apparently it was Torchwood. (But yeah I'm thinking she'll voice Viv too)

I totally agree! This is great, and practically confirmation. But, still, not actual confirmation, and I am very wary about assuming things that are not actual confirmation.   And I hope you're right about Vivienne.

I've been completely useless today.  Just walking around like this:

 

 

Which I think is creeping my children out.  OH WELL.   I'd fairly well convinced myself it would be Varric and Viv, which makes this all the sweeter.  I think Cullen may have to wait for my second playthrough. I know it wasn't a hard yes, and that a certain amount of caution is warranted, but I feel so happy and relieved, like now I can get psyched up about other aspects of the game and hang in here without this lingering anxiety about whether or not I was going to have to listen to that lovely voice for an entire game knowing it would never say anything, you know...mushy. If my feels get stomped at this point, it's my own fault. At the moment, I just want to dance around flinging rainbows and revel in this very good day.

 

I do feel for the Varric thread, they're lovely, and I know this makes their prospects seem a bit dimmer. But I wouldn't discount their chances completely just yet! It ain't over 'til it's over.  The Viv people should be all smiles, though...she's looking likely. I hope Indira is voicing her, she's got a great voice!

I danced and ran around the house flailing like the girls in town in Fallout 1 & 2 for a solid 3 minutes before my husband asked me to stop so I know just how you feel!! What a hopeful day

When I first played DA2, none of the romances interested me. I wanted dat dwarf but my dreams were dashed. If he doesn't get the LI spot, I will be disappointed but if they were to provide us with some closure over the whole Bianca thing or give him happiness, then I will be content.

he's Felassan's boss. Because, let's face it, most of the elves in the series go a little nuts about getting the Eluvian, so it wouldn't surprise me if F's boss is also an elf. And dreamers can kill people in the Fade, so there's that.

I don't think he's likely to be Imshael because Imshael doesn't seem too plugged in to what's going on. Felassan's like "chaos is coming, yo", and Imshael is all "oh cool, didn't know that".

However, still in crazy speculation mode, I think it's more likely that F's boss is also his boss, rather than Solas being F's boss.

Hello guys! Just wanted to say that I'm really happy for you, and I hope that we'll get dev confirmation very soon! As for us Varricmancers, well. It's not over yet, we're just going to have to hold on a bit longer. 

 

And if i can't have my dwarf, well then an intelligent mage with mystic powers and a welsh accent is pretty much fine by me! 

Have you guys tried the VA thing? Since you guys know who is voicing him already, you aren't waiting on a confirm. Maybe try finding out if he's appearing somewhere or doing a qna someplace?

I admire the Solas fans' adeptness at picking appropriate gifs.

They are AMAZING aren't they? They've inspired me to start a gif folder on my hard drive, but it's still a very tiny collection, atm.

 

Man, if, when it all plays out, I have the option to m/m romance Dorian, Iron Bull OR Solas, I have even less certainty of who I'm gonna chose for my first playthrough. THIS IS SO NOVEL. Actually having a variety of choices. WOW. This is cool. Wow. Thanks Bioware.
