Actually I believe Solas calls the spirit "lethallin".

 

After reading through some of the past discussion I kind of feel that we jump on Solas a bit too much for making bad decisions (myself included).  The only questionable/bad decision we actually know about is he gave his orb to Corypheus.  The rest is all speculation.  We don't know what he did in the past or why although we do know that he feels guilt/regret/remorse/pain about it.  There's some evidence that he did indeed seal away the elven gods but there's also evidence that they probably needed to be taken out of the picture.  However, that's all just speculation as well.

 

We need more context.  Let's form a mob and (peacefully) take over BioWare's headquarters and nicely make them tell us everything.

Without a doubt giving the orb to Cory was a mistake but we have no idea of the context or the circumstances in which this mistake was made...

And if you're completely insane like me he never even directly gave his orb to Coryflora... But simply left it with the Sentinels in Cadash Thaig for safe keeping. <___<

Because for someone like Solas who is all about freedom there would be a big difference between the slumber he freely chose to undergo and the forced confinement of a prison-like sentence. He didn't have to presumably lock away the gods and go into his uthenera, but he freely chose to do so because it was right. Cole mentions how he did it to save them (if his conversation is really about them). And that freedom of choice shaped his thoughts, emotions and future plans obviously. It seems like it was a worthy cause, something while difficult to do was for the greater good.  Being locked away against his will would shape his feelings quite differently I think. If the confinement was imposed because of a mistake he makes.. such as releasing blighted old gods or something it would really give him something to think about. In confinement he wouldn't be able to wander like he did during uthenara. And not being able to watch the outside world move around him he wouldn't be able to focus all his thoughts on ways to change it when free.

I don't see Wisdom as an entity that would feed him the correct answers, but would instead help guide him towards those positive life choices. She would help him see that it's okay to be happy.  I totally subscribe to the theory that the reason he hooks up with you right after Wisdom dies in the game is because she had been pointing him towards you the entire time, subtly telling him to go get his own happiness. And her death sparked that need to finally listen, to take a break and heed the advice of Wisdom for once.

And again, I think spirits are MUCH more complex than other people are giving them credit for. Who is to say if Wisdom could grapple with complex emotions or not.

I would absolutely agree that his thought process under confinement would be different, but i thought our original point was whether or not locking them up together would be beneficial? not whether or not he would arrive at such a shitty conclusion on his own regardless of his circumstances.

 

I posit that he has already been receiving her council, which fell apart under practical application (conclave) and is therefor not beneficial, regardless of his personal freedom.

At any rate, the way she described fade sex as being a melding of emotion and action in an indescribable fashion spoke to me . That's how I imagine spirit x mortal(ish) would be. And yeah, if it were in the fade? ALL of the mind-bending, toe curling mind-bang.

It might sound like I'm setting rules here but I'm not ...all I said the other day was just me saying that people need to tone down the hate and talking about other characters for so many pages. If you are going gripe about that then...go forth and have your hissy fit. 

 

I know there are a few people who agree with me and I thank you but doing this defending myself for defending this thread alone is getting tiresome. I guess I should just leave. I want to get along with everyone in here but when you have people who disagree with you and argue with you very rudely? This place isn't healthy especially in my condition.

Y'know that's the vibe I'm getting when I come into this thread. I'm not saying no one is welcome here but I'm getting to the point where I don't want to come in here anymore cause there are more 'Screw that guy" and "This guy is so much better so let's talk about him a ton" happening in this thread. I'm not saying Solas is perfect and he's upset some players including me but I still love the guy and want a chance at a happy ending for him and my Lavellan other than just wanting to murder knife him like some people do.

 

I feel there is more hate for Solas in this thread and it bothers me. I know some of you want to joke around about Solas and I'm fine with that but it kinda goes too far and then it turns to hate again. *sigh*

Also I don't have to go digging in this huge thread to show evidence cause I know there are few in here that agree with me that have seen it too they just don't want to get into the argument and in a way I understand. I would love to stay but this is getting stressful.

Well we know that solas is falen din but we don't know what the ancient elves were exactly. They don't consider modern elves to be their people.

 

Due to the dinosaur frescos in the game, I made an animorph interpretation of what solas would look like. If Flemeth can turn into a dinosaur, so can Solas:
