I don't think that's insane. It's more in line with what I'm thinking had to have happened, because as people say... you don't look at Corypheus and believe all will be well when you hand him a powerful artifact. And then he didn't recognize Solas at the final battle. And yet Flemeth clearly said Solas shouldn't have given his orb to Corypheus, so... how does anyone begin to interpret that.

 

If he figured handing it over would mean blowing up a bad guy, well, maybe. Still doesn't explain a lot of things.

Wasn't wrong as far as Cole's concerned. I always wondered if Cole sometimes says things purely because he knows it'll comfort them, rather than it being the truth, or what he perceives to be the truth.

 

I read a fic a while back where it basically implied that because Wisdom said it, it must be correct, and it grated against me. Being wise doesn't mean always being right. (Not saying you're saying this, just mentioning the fic. )

 

I wish we'd stop bringing up the argument every five pages. We should just let that go and move on.

Oh, I would say Solas/FH was right and that something really smelt rotten in the kingdom of Elvhenan and because he couldn't take it down [not enough power] he at least used his wit to shut it away...

 

But of course, because he is a moral being, he did it, and because he is a moral being, he feels bad about it.

 

That does not objectively imply that he was either morally or factually wrong.

Possibly they also don't want to state either way to either screw up previous lore or make future lore a retcon of some sort. Keeping crap like that straight in a regular novel is hard enough, all the variables in a shared world setting is going to catch up with itself at some point. Best to keep it ambiguous if it's not strictly necessary to give a solid answer.

lol it's not exactly news, it was brought up multiple times in the thread, mostly when discussing young solas art.

For you no, but I tend to skim the young solas stuff, as it's not my thing personally. Not that the art's not good, but I like to think he always preferred the shaven look. It suits him.

There's just too many things solas could be, sure he could be a carton of eggs, or a potato, a coconut, or a rapier. But could he be a rapier breakfast burrito to make everyone happy. It'll taste weird but it's the a solution to make everyone happy.

I don't think he handed it over so much as didn't do anything to get it back. Solas couldn't unlock the thing but knew Cory's doomed to fail plan would so he just followed Cory around waiting for him to die at which point Solas would swoop in and reclaim his foci.

 

He's not innocent, by making the choice to do nothing he knew a great many people would die but he wasn't the mastermind, pulling the wannabe god's strings to get what he wanted either. The Inquisitor can make a similar choice at the Winter Palace- stop the assassination or let it happen and get the ruler they want on the Orlesian throne.

I'm so confused. I thought we all agreed that we were wrong, that the creature we were referring to as a velociraptor from our jurassic park gifs was actually not a raptor, but scientifically classified as a " Deinonychus" ?

I'm fine with these creatures we refer to as raptors experiencing the Rapture however.  Deinonychus and Velociraptors proper need the Maker too. Moreover, if they were capable of spudfaceshifting, I'd imagine the Maker would bring them towards them in celebration of their magical prowess.
