This piece of art is wonderful  I wished we could have real white vallaslin, in the CC they look pink :/

Seconding the real, burning need for white vallaslin.

<snip>

Discussion point: Muscley Solas or skinny Solas? Apparently he's buffer than older male elves in game, but I dunno.

If needing to choose from muscular as in body-builder or skinny as in basement dwelling nerd, I'd pick skinny, because out of the two, that'd be more accurate.

But in actuality, I'm gonna be generous and say he has a kind of lazy swimmer's body. Triangular, svelte, lithe, somewhat defined, though unlike most swimmers, probably no visibly defined ab muscles and smaller pecs. I'm would imagine he doesn't devote time to building muscle or toning himself outside of his regular activities, what with his other pursuits and love of sleeping (you and me both, dude!), but I do think a byproduct of a nomadic lifestyle coupled with what must be a low fat diet would result in a fairly fat-free, toned bod.

His shoulders/arms are likely the most toned, what with all the staff twirling and fresco painting. Unlike Babelas, who undoubtedly has spent countless years just fervently working his thigh-master, staring into the middle-distance in mindless boredom.

Do not underestimate the physical activity involved in painting a fresco... All those large brushstrokes = good shoulders...

Mural painting is no joke. I got roped into doing one for my highschool a while back, and for a short person, it was suffering.

^ These.

Is it working?

Yes. Your evil knows no bounds, miss.

I have long hair!  You hate me!  *cries*   Ok, ok it's dark hair ... except for the grey parts but we pretend those don't exist.

Is just the almost fanatical description of that "cascade of golden locks" in certain fanfic that irks me... :P you are safe too... and yes, the childish rage that still linger in embers in my psyche sometimes, of when I was a kid who could excuse only Lady Oscar for the long blond hair (because she was bada$$. She was no Mario's pricess )

She have short hair  :P so she is safe (and she is too cute to hide!)

-snip-

I know what you mean. I love Samus (Metroid) but the fact she's a blonde just puts me off her so much. ;_;

Also, have a heart since I'm out of likes. <3

I really like the aesthetics of long hair, and I think with the way the game works, that long hair would actually look a bit better than the shorter hair styles, but it's not practical. As an actual archer ™, you /have/ to tie your hair back when your shoot. Hair getting caught in the string can send your shot way, way off.

Yep, yep, yep. And then you get the spawn of Katniss's where it's all in a braid. Braids can still be dangerous! I know a girl who has braid that goes down to her butt and I tell you, it's a heavy MF. Have a heart. <3

My girl is a mage so she can turn her hair into snakes if she wishes to(such a shame there's not such specialisation in DAI),so as far as she's concerned keeping them long is more practical. :P
But yeah, jokes aside I see your point and if it was a real life battle, long glorious locks would possibly be their doom.I have really long hair IRL and they are caught pretty much everywhere.

That's actually a running theme I have with my characters! Anything melee-ish (Warrior, stabby Rogue), they get short, short hair and some scars (Warriors have more than Rogues since I'm almost always a tank and they're getting hit in the face directly), Archers short too, although I'll allow fringes, maybe some small scars, but Mages I don't mind too much having long hair, and they're never scarred since they're not in the thick of things like the other classes.

I would like long hair in a game if they ever solved the clipping issues.  But these days it seems most game devs either go exclusively with short hair (including a dozen different styles of buzz cut oh yay) or just ignore the clipping (which just looks bad).

Noooo! *cling*

We'll know gaming mechanics has truly surpassed anything when we can have flowing hair that's not like water and can take someones head off with the clipping. I don't blame BioWare for going the way they did with the hairstyles in their games. Hair's hard. D:

Ha, all this hair discussion! I must say that the obsession with redheaded ladies in video games lately makes me preen a little.

Until I remember that those ladies are actually bottle-redheads and don't really reflect real redheads. But pffft whatever. VIDEO GAMES!

But yeah, BioWare has notoriously terrible hair, unfortunately. I was relieved at Solas' baldness back when we were first getting glimpses of how the hair looked in the game.  Until hair is done better, I'd rather they stick to the short and non-clipping styles. Just, you know, with more of them and not with 10 different versions of a buzzcut.

What's wrong with a braid? It keeps the hair out of your eyes and off your chest, which is what matters if you're shooting. A bun or a braid work perfectly well for it.

Red head have little effect on me. My cousin is a redhead, it run in the family  :P but yes, in the last years redhead are "the new blonde" in videgames.

Hair in Inquisition have like slapped on "for male played directly from Mass Effect slapped on female skull". I was unaware there could be that many bald/shaved styles. -_-

Short doesn't mean unfeminine/manly/shaved/buzzcut.

Until BW tell us what happened between Solas and Cory (if they ever do) we're all stuck with guessing and our own interpretations.

I know. I just like holding off on the "wow, what an eff up you are" line of thought until I know for sure he actually did eff up in some spectacular way. What seems to be the obvious situation is easy to speculate on... it's interesting to consider what else might have happened now and then. :)

I'm sure a lot of folks would have long-haired characters if the CC offered it as an option. For my rogue, short hair made sense, so that's what she would have had regardless. But I'll join the "too many mage Lavellans" group. I can see the appeal of falling for the Dread Wolf as the Keeper's First, but ehhh... nah. My ordinary rogue will be her own special snowflake over in the corner. <_<

Perhaps what you guys are feeling is an aversion to poor description rather than actual hair color. "Long golden locks," is way cringeworthy, but there's nothing wrong with blonde hair, red hair, or any hair for that matter.

Probably. I can say I find more than a little eyerolling reading over descripted hair in fanfic. Never found one where the protagonist have short hair, actually.

Is something rarer than finding a non-mage Lavellan in a Solas fanfic. :P

Now I'm getting flashbacks to terrible fanfic descriptions of 'azure orbs'.

Thanks.

I actually would love long hair on CC, and I don't think it'd be unpractical. What would be, on the other hand, unpractical, is for Bioware to actually put time into meshing them, texturing them, and animate them while avoiding all clipping as much as possible.

I think the lack of good long hair in DA:I comes mostly from a technical standpoint. And the lack of good medium/short hair comes from the fact they're Bioware and suck at one thing and one thing only, and that's doing hair.

And like I said, long hair CAN be badass as well. A warrior doesn't have to have medium or short hair because it's "more practical". After all, the Inquisitor is ALSO a diplomatic and political force, and as such, can care about their hair and overall appearance as such position would require them to.

Viking's Lagertha hairstyles are awesome, and she's a badass warrior.

I dare anyone to say that she doesn't look rad AND that it doesn't look practical/realistic.

Short hair isn't  the most "logical/practical" choice for the Inquisitor, and doesn't have to be.

I just want everybody to express their hair glory in any ways possible, but right now Bioware only favors short and medium hair, so it's a bummer.

I switch between archer rogue and mage.  And I prefer rift mage - not because that's Solas' spec but because I find it interesting.  Knight enchanter is a bit too OP for me.  And corpses are icky so no necromancer for me!  But tbh I think I prefer my rogue over the mage.
